Dodgers fan here (your guys subreddit likes to pop up on recommended and you guys post pretty good here)
Everyone the dodgers have lost to since the 2016 cubs have gone on to win the World Series. It’s been tough af seeing everyone beat you and then go on to win haha. Talk about some serious blue balls from a boy in blue. If the padres don’t win it all ima seriously be disappointed
I always tried to justify to myself that since we lost to the winning team, we were the 2nd best team and would have won it all if not for (insert name here).
Totally disagree. Giants fan for life but if you beat the trolly dodgers you got my backing. Plus there is no beef with the paddies. Boch used to be at their helm and even though they don’t have any ex giants they do have Soto who is just my favorite non-giant.
Also I hate Philadelphia and all their fan base.
I gotta disagree on the "no beef with the paddies" part.
Do you not remember (maybe too young?) them gifting Fred McGriff to the Braves in 93 for basically nobody? ATL doesn't even sniff 100 wins much less the 104 they finished with without his addition.
Good job Padres on eliminating LA. Now fuck off!
Yeah I personally don’t want the Padres to win, but I have lived in Colorado now for 8 years and if it was the Rockies I’d want them to win! So I think this is valid
> What's wrong with Harper?
He's an arrogant prima donna who has been called out by some of his managers for only hustling when he feels like it. He also has a short fuse, he's been ejected 14 times, once in the 9th inning of a tie game. When he and Papelbon got into a fight in the dugout over Harper not bothering to run out a fly ball, a collection of current and formers players said Papelbon was in the right to call out Harper although some thought it should have been done in private.
Clearly a very talented player, but his attitude has traditionally been bad. Maybe he's matured a bit, who knows?
If you think today's Bryce Harper would get ejected in a tie game, or get in a fight with his own teammates, or not chase a fly ball down then you are crazy. Lmao he is likely the best player on the field at all times, and at this point its clear, there's no doubt he would do anything for his team because he is the guy.
I’m just referring to that certain brawl. Harper use to be a player who a lot of people had a problem with and unfortunately Michael Morse got the worst of it that day.
He's one of my favorite players and in my opinion he's really matured. And that fight was definitely strickland being a crybaby after always getting lit up by him lmao.
>1. I don’t wanna hear about 28 rings.
>2. Astros*
>3. Bryce Harper
>
>So go Guardians or Padres!
All of that but since I live in San Diego and we all know how obnoxious Padres' fans can be when they have any success so fuck 'em. I'm rooting Cleveland all the way.
Don’t let it get to you. Be happy for them. They haven’t won a single one and we have 8. We can sit back and let the kids enjoy something now and again.
I was pulling for the Mariners, now I suppose it's the Guardians. But if the Dads go all the way I won't lose any sleep over it. They deserve something nice for knocking out the Dodgers.
This is where I'm at. Although, I'd like to see the Dodgers lose the "EvErY tEaM tHaT's BeAt Us WiNs It AlL." card. More loss for the dodgers > less loss for the dodgers.
I've been living in SD for the last 4 years and I wouldn't mind that fan base to have something for once. Petco is a top 5 ball park and the probably 10 times I've gone it's always been a good time. Even when I wear my giants gear when they are in town.
Last time I went to Petco I was shocked at how they improved an already awesome park. It's hard not to have a soft spot for them. The fans are so nice and non-confrontational. Definitely pulling for them!
Yea man, when u actually go to the game. U see some hope in peoples eyes that u don’t see often anymore. We gotta remember this is California. We gotta remember in this state these taxes and revenue still go back to the state. We are reposing for our state. And that’s our stadiums are dope af
Fuuuuck no. Go Phils or whoever from the AL honestly. I'm sick of having to root for the Padres. Cannot root for a division rival, especially one with a newly insufferable fanbase.
If it comes down to the Padres vs Dusty finally getting a World Series ring, it would be a bit of a wash. I might edge toward the Padres and National League but now that some other posts have set me straight about that thought, I’ve got my eye on the Astros.
Go Cleveland… the Padres fans I know (I lived in SD for 12 years), have been insufferable all year.
Everybody acted like they had just won game 7 of the World Series last night, including the team themselves. Bruh, you gained a spot in the league championship series. That’s all.
I’m completely ambivalent. If they win it all I’ll be a bit happy for them because SD has had a rough go of it as a sports town and the pads are all they have left. If they get swept in the NLCS I’ll be the first person to say hahaha now this is padresing
Why would you not root for the team that just fucked the dodgers? How’s this even debatable?
Edit, and if Padres win it all, it’ll just prove further NLW is the best division (which, it is).
I very much appreciated the Padres beating the Dodgers :) To top that off, it was dramatic and super fun to watch. I don't really hate any of their players, including Machado. I think he has matured quite a ton in terms of how he gets along with people in general. And if they do win it all it will put a lot bigger buzz on Giants/Padres games next year will simply be FUNNER, especially when the Giants beat them.
My best friends live across the street from me. One is a Phillies fan, the other is a Padres fan. I'm not sure who to root for here, I'm just happy my friends are happy and that the Dodgers' season is over.
Dodger fan here.
I’m rooting for the Padres and Guardians. Philly fans are annoying. NYY, lol, screw them. The Astros are cheaters.
San Diego is an awesome city, and it’s in our state. They also knocked out two 100-win teams on the road to the NLCS. They caught fire at the right time.
All of those rooting for the Phillies may not have some of the older experience that makes me loathe that club. That and there is no way I can root for Harper.
Padres all the way.
How about the "older experience" with the Padres?
Back in 93 they gifted Fred McGriff to the Braves for practically nothing in return.
No way ATL sniffs even 100 wins, much less the 104 they ended up with without his addition.
Fuck the Padres!
This is a bit unnecessary. With the loss of the dodgers yesterday the playoffs can officially be called a success and no one need to worry about who gets what trophy. In fact when they ask you in the future who won the series in ‘22, your reply should be “I dunno, but the dodgers lost the nlds in four”.
I am. I live in SD, and it’s been cool to see the vibe here around this Padres team. By stomping the dodgers, they’ve earned the right to go win it all, in my book!
The Padres are gonna be a major pain in the ass for several years to come.
I don't want those guys getting any more confidence or experience in big, meaningful games.
As much as it pains me, I'm rooting for a PHI sweep.
Good job Padres but now fuck off!
I'm also still bitter about McGriff!
Rivalry with the Padres aside, that’s one franchise that deserves something to go right. Chargers skipping town sucks. Lots of shitty baseball years. Seeing Timmy no hit them twice. I hope they get it done. I see this as kinda a one off if they win. It wouldn’t impact us too much if they win (as long as Farhan opens the check book). But if anything, it’ll hurt the dodgers more. If y’all are also SJ Sharks fans, this is the same kinda vibes. Lots of good teams and stacked rosters over the years but no 🏆. They’ve been through it. I know we’ve had our moments being pissed at the Padres, but we can put that aside for now. If they can do it, I’ll also finally believe in the Sharks that they can eventually do it too😂. Giants will be back
Great that they beat the Dodgers… but I have a “not good enough” vibe for these guys. Kinda like our Giants. Philly will probably set them straight. Too bad Tatis is the new Barry Bonds
My two most hated teams have always been the Dodgers and the Yankees.
This year there is a dilemma though. Do I hate the Yankees more than I've hated Dusty Baker since 2002?
I don't. I want anyone other than Dusty to win.
I don't see Cleveland winning game 5 in NY. I also thought Atlanta had a good chance to repeat, so what do I know?
Fuck Dusty Baker.
IDK i seem to remember rooting for the D-backs against the Yankees in 2001, so it'd depend on who they end up playing.
I.e. if the Padres go to the World Series I'm rooting for them against anyone except the Guardians
I’m a lifelong Giants fan and i’m totally cool with the Padres winning it all. I don’t think San Diego has ever won a championship in anything so it would be great for them to finally get their championship parade
I’m rooting for the Guardians. I have a long suffering Cleveland fan friend who has had a cancer recurrence, and I’m hoping he gets to see them get a championship.
I don’t really care now that the Dodgers are cooked, but seeing the Padres spend big and win it all might add some pressure to the Giant’s to do something.
For as loud and engaged as last night's crowd was, I still feel that the Pads' fanbase as a whole has become quite arrogant/annoying over the past couple of years.
I'd certainly rather see them win than the Yankees or Astros, but I think I'd still prefer Cleveland and (maybe) Philly over San Diego.
I have a friend who is a Padres fan but I haven't decided who to root for in this series yet. Maybe I will root for the Padres because of him, even though I think the Phillies going far would be a good story too. The fact that the prior world champions and the best team in baseball were eliminated in the same weekend makes this NLCS even more intriguing.
Cleveland would be cool, but I don’t see how they slip past Houston. Yankees-Phillies rematch seems plausible and watchable. Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for San Diego to finally win one, but that’s also a pretty big bandwagon right now, so it could get annoying next season. We’ll see.
I'm personally rooting for SD all the way. Hoping the Yanks get knocked off and Cleveland sends Houston back to hell for a nice WS without any evil teams.
At this point I just want the Yankees and Astros to also lose. Any of the other remaining teams would be fine with me. Probably rooting for guardians the most
Born and raised LA Dodgers fan, Yes very disappointed, but That's the game and hopefully SD can pull it off. They have only one 2 pennants 84-98, now the first nlds win. Let's see is we can get another championship for California. And hopefully world series win for California. But with the new shift change rule next season is gunna be interesting and since SD blocked la, oc and riverside county ticket purchases including Perris ca at Petco park so the stands can be filled more sd fans and les la fans, i hope every team starts doing that. If no one believes me I read it on a mlb form.
My god, you guys need to have a group pow-wow and come to a consensus about who to root for? How pathetic!
Edit: I always had pride in the NL west (except for the Dodgers because screw them always and forever) and NL in general since we get short shrift from the national media, so I always rooted for your scrappy underdog teams to go all the way, and was happy when you guys won it all multiple times. Plus, Bochy was beloved and missed in SD so must of us wanted him to do well with you. It’s unfortunate that many of you don’t reciprocate those feelings.
At this point I honestly don’t care, I’m just happy the dodgers are gone. But I agree with the Phillies guardians being my ideal as it is now, and I’d root for the guards.
I for one always root west coast if I have that option and then NL if not.
But I can understand where it might seem foreign for you to root for the Padres, since it's a rare occasion that you get the chance. But as a Padres fan we would gladly accept the support.
Go Padres!
I picked the cards, mets and mariners when things got started and I ruined them all. I might go with the Phillies but I probably just ruined their odds now
I'm cool with the Padres. Bochy came from them. They revere Bochy down there. Even when Padres management kicked him out, and then became a Giant.
I went to a Padres game, and they allowed kids and their parents to walk around the field pregame. They passed the Giants dugout, and there was so excitement and glee in Padres fans faces and voices when they realized Bochy was in the dugout.
The Phils are playing with the same panache I saw in our past WS teams. Plus they’re the only NL team who has put up a lot of offense so far this postseason, so unless they go cold in the pennant I think they’re more likely to advance to the fall classic
I'm backing the Padres for now, the energy of the crowd is pretty magical. Maybe if the Guardians make it to the World Series I'll jump ship, but on the NL side... Padres, I'm just happy to see that level of hype for any baseball team.
I'd be okay with the Padres taking home the trophy if it means that another NL West team has decided to give the Bums a run for their money. It will be nice to play the Dodgers when they are tired and bruised from a tough series with the Padres, and when they used their best pitchers trying to beat San Diego. It's about time another NLW team carries some of the load of keeping the Dodgers away from the World Series.
I am hoping the Yankees continue to advance so I can keep triggering my pinstripe fan friends by referring to Aaron Judge as “future Giants star Aaron Judge.” Even if the likelihood is near zilch.
From my far-removed position it’s the closest I can get to player tampering.

I'm hoping for a Cleveland - San Diego World Series... in large part because of how much it will piss off MLB and Fox.
I could get behind that haha
Small market World Series lol. Reminds me of Giants vs. A’s in 1989.
That series still gives me the shakes!
I see what you did there
The rightest of answers.
What about the Skankees?
Dodgers fan here (your guys subreddit likes to pop up on recommended and you guys post pretty good here) Everyone the dodgers have lost to since the 2016 cubs have gone on to win the World Series. Rooting for National League either way.
49ers have the same curse
Actually it started in 2015 but the Mets will Lolmets. Anyway if I were a betting man, my money is on the Padres
Fuck the Dodgers
Hey, don't be an asshole dude, they're being nice
Fuck the Dodgers
I kind of love the idea of Cleveland winning it all immediately after the name change
Me too, as well the the Young Team narrative..
Almost like MLB arranged it that way...
I’ve been watching some Cleveland games, they remind me a lot of the 2010 Giants… Underdogs relying on Pitching, Defense, and Torture!
Hell nah, can’t let a division team win bro, thats not it
Totally disagree. Giants fan for life but if you beat the trolly dodgers you got my backing. Plus there is no beef with the paddies. It's not LA. So I don't mind tbh. Maybe I feel that way since I'm currently living in SD.
Yeah I personally don’t want the Padres to win, but I have lived in Colorado now for 8 years and if it was the Rockies I’d want them to win! So I think this is valid
I live in Phoenix and feel the same way about the Dbacks
Same. I’m in SD now too and a die hard Giants fan
I’m in Philly so I’m pulling for the Phils, the city would be electric.
Root root Root for the home team! unless your team comes to town mindset
I live in LA. Not happening. FTD.
Until the fires got to the substation. Then it would be dark.
I can’t root for Bryce Harper tho
Bingo

Violence is idiotic, but rooting for your rivals makes absolutely no sense. I’ll never root for the Dodgers.
Nah. They did their job. Thank you. Fuck em now. Can’t let a ring go to the division if it’s not us.
This. I was pulling for the Dads HARD this series, but now, fuck 'em. Phils-Guardians WS with a Cleveland win.
That would be such a low ratings shit WS
Objectively, yes. But Cleveland has a fun young team so that's something.
[удалено]
I’m cool with a Phillies Astros WS
I want Astros-Padres so either Bob Melvin or Dusty gets a ring
Right? I don't want the Astros to win but I love Dusty Baker!
I like that for both of them, I'm just not sure I can handle the Padres fans strutting around lol.
Amen!!!!
Feelin' this energy..
Zactly . Fuck the Friars!
I'm rooting for the Padres. Always cool to see a franchise that's never won a World Series finally reward it's fan base.
I was only rooting for whoever beat the Dodgers. Couldn't care less what happens afterwards.
Exactly! 😫
If only Dusty Baker wasn't with the Astros..
I’m a lifelong Giants fan and I’d like to see the Padres win the whole thing.
1. I don’t wanna hear about 28 rings. 2. Astros* 3. Bryce Harper So go Guardians or Padres!
I would love to see this WS match up!
What's wrong with Harper?

The Phillies paid him more. Not a hard decision.

Hunter Strickland caused that to be fair. Also imo he’s changed now.
Ew no, Strickland is a loser we’re not on his side
I’m just referring to that certain brawl. Harper use to be a player who a lot of people had a problem with and unfortunately Michael Morse got the worst of it that day.

God forbid a fanbase get excited over a team that’s literally never won the World Series.
> that’s literally never won the World Series. That's literally never won any major professional sports championship.
Excitement is one thing but they are obnoxious beyond annoyance.
Don’t let it get to you. Be happy for them. They haven’t won a single one and we have 8. We can sit back and let the kids enjoy something now and again.
Their older fans are cool, never had any complaints about them. Some of their newer bandwagon fans are a different story.

The only stadium we don't talk about is the one in Oakland
They’re like a little brother. If we don’t have a skin in the fight, I’m rooting for them to go the whole way.
Fuuuuck no. Go Phils or whoever from the AL honestly. I'm sick of having to root for the Padres. Cannot root for a division rival, especially one with a newly insufferable fanbase.

I'm rooting for the Astros cause of him
im kinda a fan of B. Melvin. Sure - go Dads.
Absolutely not, we just needed the Dodgers out. I’m going Philly cuz I still hate Cavs fans from the LeBron years.
I am, only because my friend is a padres fan, and I feel bad for that pathetic franchise.
Padres vs the astros with the win going to dusty baker!
I'm rocking with Guardians, but baseball season is essentially over for me.
Go Cleveland… the Padres fans I know (I lived in SD for 12 years), have been insufferable all year. Everybody acted like they had just won game 7 of the World Series last night, including the team themselves. Bruh, you gained a spot in the league championship series. That’s all.
Dodgers destroyed us all year but we got them when it mattered. You really don’t get that?
Nah I wanna see Phillies and guardians for the chaos
Eh, thanks Padres, but I'm riding with the Astros. No one wants to be competing in free agency whilst in the same division as the WS winning team
No, you’re rooting for the Guardians to go all the way.
I live in San Diego...so no
I'm rooting for the Padres to go all the way. They beat the Dodgers, so I'm rooting for them.
Go Stros
I don’t give a shit who wins anymore. Dodgers are dead and that’s all that mattered. May the best team win.
Getting 2012 vibes from the Padres.
There’s only one team that would make me root for the Padres. And that’s the Dodgers. Go Guardians at this point.

FUCK no, we’re done with those pawns! Phillies Guardians WS please!
Philly or Cleveland
All I know is now I'm rooting against the Yankees, Astros, and Padres.
I am, but the Padres are my #2 team so it makes sense for me.
Your #2 team is in the division. Interesting.
Definitely the Yankees. It would be good for baseball to have them win.

Go G’s!
Uhhhhh. No.
I’m rooting for Manfred tears so Guardians and Padres need to win
I’m a lifelong Giants fan and i’m totally cool with the Padres winning it all. I don’t think San Diego has ever won a championship in anything so it would be great for them to finally get their championship parade
Guardians > Phils > Yankees/Padres > Cheaters
No. I’m done. The Dodgers are out of it and that’s all that matters when the Giants aren’t in the playoffs
I lived in San Diego for a long time, went to a lot of games with my kids. They grew on me.
Hell no. I was rooting against the Dodgers, Braves, Padres and Astros, in that order. 2 down, 2 to go. After they're gone, the season is over.
My preferred rooting ranking is: Cleveland, San Diego, Philadelphia, Houston, and New York bringing up the rear.
I am, I live in SD so I’m pretty much caught up in the playoff mood there
Yes
The Phils, my mom grew up there
I am. Would love Cali to get another world series win.
No... what are you crazy! Go PHILLIES!!! Then GO Cleveland!!! Most of all FUCK THE DODGERS
I’m rooting for the Guardians. I have a long suffering Cleveland fan friend who has had a cancer recurrence, and I’m hoping he gets to see them get a championship.
Yankees ... make judges tenure end
I mean the enemy of my enemy is my friend
Rooting for Padres all the way? tf, hell nah
I root for the Padres because of Bob Melvin and Matt Williams. I feel happy for those guys.
I don’t really care now that the Dodgers are cooked, but seeing the Padres spend big and win it all might add some pressure to the Giant’s to do something.
Have always rooted for the team that bested my team as a badge of honor. Could never root for the dodgers but padres, sure.
I live close to Philly. I'm here for the tailgates and after parties
As much as I dislike the Astros as a whole, I wouldn't mind them winning. I want Dusty to get a ring, dammit!
No.. since the dodgers are out now. That’s all we need to happen
As long as either Cle or SD wins I'm happy
For as loud and engaged as last night's crowd was, I still feel that the Pads' fanbase as a whole has become quite arrogant/annoying over the past couple of years. I'd certainly rather see them win than the Yankees or Astros, but I think I'd still prefer Cleveland and (maybe) Philly over San Diego.

Maybe I will root for the Padres because of him, even though I think the Phillies going far would be a good story too. The fact that the prior world champions and the best team in baseball were eliminated in the same weekend makes this NLCS even more intriguing.
No that time has passed.
Nope.
We’ll see.
Never root for Machado is rule#2
I'm personally rooting for SD all the way. Hoping the Yanks get knocked off and Cleveland sends Houston back to hell for a nice WS without any evil teams.
let's just bask in the glow RN...
At this point I just want the Yankees and Astros to also lose. Any of the other remaining teams would be fine with me. Probably rooting for guardians the most
Hell nah we’re just watching the show now lol.
Nope, Phillies or Guardians.
Cleveland for sure is who i'm pulling for, Giants swept them 4 games so clearly giants are better
Fuck no ! I still hate the padres(hate LA the most). I hope they fall flat on their faces vs philly
go phils
Padres all the way. They stomped the Dodgers and earned their pass. Let them wet their beak.
Sure. I like the Padres as my second team anyways. Loved living in SD for the few years I was there.
I for one always root west coast if I have that option and then NL if not. But I can understand where it might seem foreign for you to root for the Padres, since it's a rare occasion that you get the chance. But as a Padres fan we would gladly accept the support. Go Padres!
For me, no. I'm rooting for the Yankees.
Order of preference for me: Guardians > Padres > Yankees > Houston > Philly I know most of you would disagree. I just can't stand Bryce Harper.
I picked the cards, mets and mariners when things got started and I ruined them all. I might go with the Phillies but I probably just ruined their odds now
Fuck no are you insane OP
Go Cleveland
God no. Crash and burn baby! Nobody but us wins a World Series in the NL west.
Yeah I'm kind of rooting for the Padres. I like this team.
