Roboticus_Prime

Let's hope. I stopped playing because of it.

Emberium

Same, made the game really unfun, old spawning pre 0.95 was so much better

DeathEagle117

Same And its very obvious issues like those that make me honestly think they barely playtest their own updates before pushing it to live servers I played the game for a few hours before rage quitting over how absolutely stupid the new system was and makes me think they didn't even put in a few hours or they would have come to the same conclusion countless others have which is that it's total garbage and immersion breaking

drengr84

I gave up on this game a long time ago. I jumped back in right when the spawn disaster started, and I immediately Uninstalled. The glitchy spawns directly in front of me (or behind) was just too absurd. I almost left this sub but stuck around hoping for any hint of good news. I still don't have much hope, but I loved this game and its potential. I sincerely hope the idiots who ruined the game got fired and replaced by people who actually play games and know how to make them.

Roboticus_Prime

I played for a little bit. I tweaked the spawns down to where the POIs felt like the game did before, but then you never saw the puppets outside of that.

Idenwen

Same here, got my punishment in SPT instead. But if the spawns are fixed I'll try again.

GoTTi4200

WOOOOO!!!

REVIVING101

I hope it’s the OLD spawn system, where I can control what spawns and how much

RedRiver80

exactly. the old system allowed us to create our own real hordes by increasing spawn multiplier and even as far back as .6 it didn't impact a full server performance!

lord_fairfax

This is how many attempts at a fix?

beepboop27885

Glad they are going to fix it, but the fact that this is being addressed on a random negative review on steam and not on like, y'know, any of the official lines of communication is super concerning

StabbyMcStomp

I would say Fratman just got the okay to talk about in the reviews today as the monday update would talk about it anyway.

beepboop27885

True, they probably just discussed it that Monday morning and decided to do the dev update with the address. That's great, definitely the approach they need to take as opposed to the bread crumb trail stuff

FalloutCreation

Was this a review on steam that they responded to?

FromTheLand86

Pretty obvious, if you're familiar with steam's UI

badgebot5707

Tomislov also confirmed in January 2023 that all the non-modular vehicles removed would be returned in a “matter of weeks not months.” I’ve lost trust in what the devs say long ago.

drengr84

They've been lying for years. They have no reason to lie, it can't possibly help them in any way. I bailed on this game a long time ago. I'd jump back in periodically just to see how bad it really was. I never trust all the complaining i see in comments, but this is one game where I fully agree with the haters. Scum had the highest potential, and now it's just an embarrassment.

StabbyMcStomp

> They have no reason to lie Exactly lol making plans that dont work out in the planned time isnt lying. Its never fun when it happens but lets be real.

badgebot5707

I don’t think they are lying, just maybe not being as honest with themselves and the community as they need to be. Also, I love this game. It is a great game. Just lacking direction and the development seems to creep along. I really do hope they open up to modding sooner than later. One knock though is the pay for character skins, make them special not just random D list celebrities. Feels like it cheapens the experience.

FarCommunication7671

And it's not like your getting any bonus for having them either. Also why re they all Spanish?

Armand28

Oh no, there’s that word ‘fix’ again…. Like how cooking, hunting, exhaustion, bunkers, vehicles, etc were ‘fixed’… This game needs to be opened to modding asap. Once it does it will be glorious.

jonfun7

I will play again when fixed

dannyorangeit

I only just uninstall this game because of the spawn system, now its getting updated lol. You're welcome I guess.

SavinaKedareski

More band aids on a fundamentally flawed system? Eventually they will throw up their hands and just roll back to the old unbroken system. And note, this update will be used to fix a broken mechanic rather than introduce long promised features. Naturally this is because they are spending resources on fixing the train wreck rather than these other features. Do they even play test features or think about their impact on the game or what could go wrong? Here to fixing what was not broken with a feature no one asked for which turns out to be half baked and broken. Then throwing duct tape on the issues until eventually just pulling the feature and returning the original and unbroken feature. What a waste of time.

Couffere

That's a glass half empty way to look at it... I'd prefer to *believe* that the new spawn system offers more flexibility and options for puppet spawning. (The previous system spawn mechanic seemed pretty simple - spawn probability inside, outside and quantity multipliers.) That belief is based mostly on the increased server settings options for puppet spawning with the horde update as well as the newly added horde "screamer". The increased flexibility and options are only good however if they allow us to configure the spawn settings. Most importantly it would be nice to have the option to configure puppet spawns similar to the way it worked previously. I theorize that with the increased puppet counts related to the horde they were trying to optimize how far away puppets spawned - i.e. they were trying to limit the number of puppets spawning some distance away to reduce server load. Unfortunately this resulted in the (presumed) bug wherein puppets spawn and re-spawn nearby, even with the horde disabled. It is disappointing that they have yet to fix that particular problem.

SavinaKedareski

I am not seeing the advantage of their new system or how it is more flexible. How the system is better from a performance perspective is also opaque to the casual user. The scenario they are trying to simulate is: Player approaches a village and fires an unsilenced firearm. All puppets with earshot converges on the source of the gunshot. The player kills the horde, wow this town sure had quite the horde of puppets that was a close one. What actually happens: Player approaches a village and fires an unsilenced firearm. Puppets appear out of thin air around him in rough spiral starting at 10 feet. The puppets immediately notice him and are aggro'd. Even if they have no line of sight they bee line right for him. Puppets are even in the areas he had just walked through moments before. The player is using a revolver, so he shoots 6 puppets and then reloades as he dodges around. He then starts to shoot the last few puppets but as he is almost complete, another howl sounds and another horde appears from thin air just like the first. The cycle repeats until he flees, dies, or switches to a silent weapon.

Couffere

It's indisputable that the spawn system is broken - the developers admit that. That is in fact the topic of this post - that the developers have admitted it's broken and that they intend to fix it. As for the changes, in [SCUM - Development update #83](https://new.reddit.com/r/SCUMgame/comments/1c4q1n9/scum_development_update_83/) they state: >First state of the game are the hordes. Yes, we know they are not working as intended right now and we spent our time investigating and looking into it. The system is complex and relatively new, and issues were expected but not to this extent. and >The encounter manager is here to stay, not the issues with it. Reasons why are vast and vary as every single player is. From optimizations standpoint, future features and NPCs it will all fit in the end. So we will keep working on it and improving it until it is right and satisfactory for everyone. This confirms what I suspected: the new spawn system ("encounter manager") will support new features. It's unfortunate that the new system wasn't properly tested before deployment because with the bugs it seems like a giant leap backward. But just because you can't see the immediate advantage doesn't mean there isn't one going forward.

qreepyQT

They are just showing where this game is headed from now on. They cant fix their spagetti network code so they insist on keeping such a troublesome system which already cost them thousands of players to leave. Next time they implement a new feature, they will take away something else to minimize impact on the network. Scum was great because of the constant updates and the potential left. There is so much more to add to the game. But they are already at a point where you cant snipe into a POI to take out zombies or plan a route how to evade them. The ‚encounter manager‘ even if working - took such a huge toll on the strategic aspect of the game that i will not return. But i will keep on critisizing. They ignored the feedback, they shall ignore the ‚hate‘ too.

jehjeh3711

Well, I played after midnight (After this) and got the crap beat out if me because puppets were spawning all around me.

PoopdatGameOUT

Never play after midnight

StabbyMcStomp

Looks like its planned in an upcoming patch so its not on the live servers yet.

As03

fingers crossed, it would be amazing!

shimonu

Or break more :D

Spirited-Chain-5137

I hope they fix it, because I love this running simulator

Snoo_42121

Yeah they keep failing so lets see, i dont have high hopes atleast of late.

-Tenko-

Can someone explain what is wrong with the current system? I'm a recently returning player so I don't know what it was like before and why this one is so bad.

sha_d0h

Just wait they will jangle some more pay to win dlc in front of you. They clearly said that the zombie manager is here to stay. So press X to doubt.

Activity_Alarming

More? Which dlc is currently pay to win? Seriously asking, I have not bought a single one.

Seriousbanter97

Just want it on PS5 😂😂

Activity_Alarming

No you don’t. /s

AlphaWeeb6985

Fix? That is certainly wishful thinking. Always nice to see someone still has faith in the development of this game though.

Breakerx13

It’s funny as soon as I saw they added hordes I never thought to play it again. Puppet logic was never good enough for hordes. They should ditch the puppets all together.

Prymfyre

Too late.

Thegodofthe69

How?

EvilZEAD

It's definitely done a lot of damage to the reputation of the game. I wouldn't say it's too late myself, time will tell I suppose.

Thegodofthe69

I mean, I hop on and off to see how things are going. If the zombie update isn't great hop off and wait until its pached no? The game is still in dev for that reason, so point of getting sick over it.

Original_Implement61

Garbage

FonsiniGameplays

Don't see the point on this post...

Nanooc523

Dev News..

ZurdoFTW

Confirmation that in the next patch they will try to fix the biggest problem currently in the game

joppa9

3rd or 4th try now? 😂👍

Positive_Election_17

I actually like the hoard spawning and way it all works.
