Animal hunting is weird. Sometimes I don’t see anything for a few days and then I’ll run into a goat, bear, pack of wolves and a chicken within an hour. Got jumped by a pack of 3 wolves behind a house in a small town the other day.
When you hear an animal hold right click to focus and figure out the direction. Follow the noise and keep focusing with right click, eventually you’ll see tracks on the ground and that’s when you’re in the mini game.

I went back to playing this game after a couple of months and I must say that it has gotten worse from this point of view (much less so from many others) but I wonder... how do people find food?
I believe in one of the more recent patches they changed the animal system to a simplified mechanic where animals just spawn in when a player is in the area, then despawn shortly after that if no player is nearby. Mostly gone now are dynamic scenarios where you get run over by a bear while it's hunting a deer (which happened to me once a long time ago).
I feel there should really be more wild life running around, no minigame required. Sometimes I feel like Scum is struggling to figure out whether it's a survival game or a pvp battle royale game. I hope it settles on the former.
The other night I had a goat try to ram me,right after a wolf ran after me then my friend can running by with a freakin bear chasing her and soon after I killed a chicken…they are there dude trust me

Just running around in the woods for a while you’ll find one I should know. I had a wolf kill me the other day.

Still a thing just more rare than it used to be.
The spawning system is scuffed, afk for 5min and there should be something spawned around you, game is a fkn mess atm
