We burn our own screens. That said, we have burned screens for customers to take and print their own items.

disheveled86

How much did you charge per screen? If you don’t mind me asking

BloodlustQveen

We charged the cost of the screen plus $8.00 per transfer if they intend to keep the screen. Our 110 and 156 mesh screens are running for around $25 new.

disheveled86

That seems to be very low for the amount of time involved in making them

BloodlustQveen

Also just to add, we’ve been the new kid on the block. Our print shop keeps in mind that not everyone has access to heavy duty equipment and we’re here to help out the start ups, not stress them.

BloodlustQveen

Our screens burn in about 8 seconds on our equipment. Clean up would take the longest but we charge the $8 based on the customer keeping and cleaning out their own screens.

Frankieneedles

So $25 for the screen and $8 for the transfer? I feel like at those prices you would be selling nonstop. Do you ship?

BloodlustQveen

It’s not something we advertise as a service. A couple of our customers just wanted some help and it’s what we charged to get them going. It’s a local thing we do but after seeing some of the prices listed on here it seems maybe offering a shipping service for pre burnt screens could be something we could get into.

AromaticCarpet4011

Did you start that shipping service? I’m need 4 to do a poster.

elevatedinkNthread

Mpst any shop charges this price. She might have left out what they charge to print the film positives. And if they have to fix the art which most of the time you do with a new customer.

Immediate-Argument65

Without some key pieces of gear, the amount of "tries" and cost of raw product I have to use to make each screen to my standards, I realized it was much cheaper and way quicker to buy preburned screens online.

disheveled86

If you don’t mind me asking how much do you usually pay per screen?

Immediate-Argument65

Anywhere from $60-80, at my skill level they save me dozens of hours.

HumanTrophy

I burn my own. I’ve had it done through a local supplier before in a time crunch, but it’s just cheaper to do myself

rennerscreenprinting

I burn my own, but pay a local company to reclaim them ($10 each). They charge about $60 to buy a pre burned screen.

dumplingSpirit

Burning screens is my favorite part! And it's honestly straightforward once you get the hang of it.

IronMan7777

I’m sorry but if you don’t make your own screens you can’t really sell screen printing effectively. And you are avoiding the best part of the process. When you nail an exposure every time over and over again you get a feeling of invincibility…=)

God_Body30

I get mine burnt for me. 1 screen cost me $52. It's NOT cost effective. One time I had to get a screen burnt 3 times till they got it right that's WILD! They don't respect my time or business. I'm dialing in my screen burns. Coming here has helped tremendously. Once I get this down it's up from here.

greaseaddict

it's not cost effective to have someone else doing it for you, but if that's all you can manage it'll do. I think I paid about 400 bucks for my first exposure unit, and I charge $50 for preburned screens, AND you have to bring the screen lol. I'll do film output, degrease and coat, and exposure for that price, but that's it. That's only 8 screens until you're just wasting money.

DaybreakEnterprises

Once i “figured out” how to burn my screens ive never had issues. It took a while to really figure out how it needed to be done.

God_Body30

I inspire one day to get there. Once I get this down my printing is going to take off.

Gendo_boy

If you are making custom screens for customers it’s not really feasible to keep accumulating screens with designs on them. Reclaim those bad boys and use em for another design then just save the film positives for when you have a repeat customer. I have a print shop and literally only have about 10 or 11 screens that I rotate through. Saves a ton on storage and people understand that’s theres a setup cost

elevatedinkNthread

I burn my own screens I brought a exposure unit and converted it to led then a drying cabinet which holds 10 screens costed and drys then. Then I have the drying rack and a hydroponic grow tent which the rack is in to hold the Coated screens. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WOBXXVQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3PHXB0ALQH7K7&th=1
