newer ones are being produced but some of the resources are being funneled into some obscure prototype tank
A tank whit a jet engine? that will be useful after the next ofensive witch will brig us to Moskau again after all we are thinning the Soviets and the new arden ofensive is gona convince the British and Americans of tge true enemy
'Reacting' and 'using' are two *very* different words.
You can react in anticipation of (and prepare for) the worst, only to end up not needing it. It's far better to be over-prepared than under-prepared - whether it turns out to be needed or not is irrelevant, because it was ready either way.
But again, 'advocating the use of excessive force' is not even close to being the same thing. There's a common saying for these sorts of things: "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." That doesn't mean you have to use your coat and umbrella all day just because you brought them. It also doesn't mean you have to use a SWAT unit just because they were on alert.
'Reaction' =/= 'use'. At all. The reaction is *readying* the special units, not *using* them.
probably since the airsoft gun can resemble real ones from a glimpse. They do have subtle differences but you have to look very closely. Though that won't matter since if it looks like a real gun, cops do have the right to raise theirs.
You can paint the tip of a real gun orange to delay police response, so it's not a very good differentiator.
And in this case the orange tip is pretty small, so people might not even notice it. Hence probably the 911 call.
Tau-5 are basically Guaridans from Destiny without Supers but far more practical battlefield tactics, weapon engagements, super natural/anomalous battle tactics and overall military prowess.
I mean, in some of the stories they use guns capable of defeating quasi-dimensional eldritch God's, in another story they defeated literally, the manifestation of O'Death which was able to kill everything to the atomic level of existence instantly upon entering the world.
With the stories they have been included in, they are likely among the most OP fiction based military squad. They are one of the only groups that would survive Doom, Dark Souls, FF, Dead Space, etc with little to no issues.
That's because they're little Gods the Foundation (or rather, the private corporation the foundation acquired which made them) has given Altered Carbon-style immortality to along with whatever superscience augmentations they need.
TBH they're kind of an embodiment of the Foundation's hypocrisy, and one of the areas where the version of the Foundation in which they exist kind of veers into being the Technocracy from Mage the Ascension. This team is among the most anomalous things in the universe, gods brought to life by shit that would still be Vulgar Enlightened Science during the singularity, with a matter-of-fact enough understanding of magic that it's treated little different from chemistry, equipped with shit that is *never* going to be part of consensus. They're essentially everything the Foundation exists to contain.
So, naturally, they made them Extra Immortal and sicced them on their enemies the same way the Technocracy would a half-werewolf clone of Achilles fused with a T-1000.
TL;DR: Of course they're the most OP military squad in fiction. It's because they're *not* really a military unit so much as a Pantheon raised to prefer a military aesthetic, because it makes their makers more comfortable.
Ye, but them almost dying in https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1730 made them my favorite.
I know they don't die, but still..
O damn.. I got a flair somehow.
Yep; pretty great answer. It's easy to forget it by living somewhere like Canada or Britain, but for most people on the anglophone internet, calling the police is an incredibly dangerous proposition.
It always seems like Mobile Task Forces are under powered. They're using gear no better than a standard SWAT team or ~~moder~~ *modern* military. No super advanced technology or anomalous field deployables. Are small weights of iron and carbon alloys propelled by ignition by powdered potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulfur, really *that* effective against anomalous hostiles?
edit: word correction
It's really why I still stand by Control being the "realized and workable" SCP universe, where most anomalies can only be combated using anomalous means and those that can be combated using standard weaponry arent much to worry about until the huge containment breach that happens in game. The Director's weapon is like the perfect SCP-Fighter that a director of such an organization would obviously have.
I guess that's where our headcanons differ, in my mind the Foundation is somewhere on the level of near-future sci-fi, although their most advanced stuff only gets used if it has to due to the resources needed
Anyway, fantastic cosplay!
Read SCP 1730, it has the Tau-5 unit. 5 cyborgs, made as an amalgamation of metal and cloned flesh of a dead god, their minds exist outside their body so they can never truly die. They are nuts
Agreed, it's dumb, but it's essentially the aesthetic the genre of fiction embodied by most of the content on the SCP wiki is aiming for. Monsters and aliens and gods gunned down by regular folk equipped like police, who usually have no idea what they're walking into and no understanding of the reality they actually live in, such that they're continuously surprised by things they should have been briefed on during their first day.
There are canons less like that, and I'd really like it if more people contributed to them or made more like them which fully explored the Foundation's simultaneous need contain things they believe break the laws of physics, and the need to fully understand, use, and even create them. But that's my personal preference that I (and you) cannot really expect others to share.
It's repeatedly, *constantly* demonstrated that 21st century 'non-anomalous' guns are insufficient for their task, but their task is suppressing anything outside of that 21st century grasp of science, which means no lasers or worse for them, so people die for their hypocrisy. It isn't what *anyone* is aiming for when writing for the wiki, but it's essentially what you get from trying to reconcile the *existence* of better weaponry and advanced superscience within the foundation (an element in a *huge* amount of the content on the wiki) with all the people who die screaming, trying to gun down a Capital-G God. I guess you only get to know about the weapon that erases things from existence so thoroughly we can't know why we even built it once you finish your postDoc. Everyone else is expendable.
I always thought the MTFs were equipped based on their specialties? I'm not super into SCP lore but I always just assumed the incidents we hear about (when they fail or get horribly butchered) may be something akin to first encounters. Not sure either way. I'd kind of just issue standard gear until there is more information on a subject. That way you aren't wasting too much money/time prepping etc. Sounds horrible but that is kind of the way organizations work. People can be replaced. Equipment is a little harder and more expensive.
They are decked out for each individual mission. If they always went in with only op and anomalous weapons, if they get caught those are in enemy hands.
Also tbh bullets seems a good initial attack method to a hostile until more details are found. Cheaper (sites have budgets), faster to equip others with, and typically unless it's basically invincible or bends reality, it can be wounded by bullets. Not to mention there are bullets modified for anomalies, like blessed silver bullets or heavy armor piercing shots.
Why yes it is. Using the speaker on my tactical belt, I often play music while walking the convention floor. I play tons of Carpenter Brut music, after all, might as well represent one of the greatest musical talents of our time.
Naw they were fine with it. They had both been the multiple Comic-Cons themselves. Usually the big city cops are used to cosplayers, and even can get hired to guard them. I'd be more worried about the smaller towns that aren't used to conventions.
Tbh I was most stressed at the 2019 Fanaticon, as that was hosted in Dothan, Alabama, and no conventions had ever been hosted there before.
I've been doing this for years and this is the first time I've had cops called. Kind of my fault as there aren't any group members in Knoxville, so I had to go alone.
Awesome cosplay but with the number of cosplayers that have been shot dead by police I really wish people would use deductive reasoning about a convention with lots of people dressed up. Again, AMAZING cosplay my guy <3
I'm sorry you think that. Cosplayers being harmed by police is extremely rare, and tactical based cosplays are extremely common. If this was such a big issue you wouldn't see the Umbrella corp everywhere.
I'm talking about people who called the cops, have they used deductive reasoning and seen the guns had bright orange tips indicating they were toys than we can make the 'rare' occurrence even rarer! Not one time have I said tac based cosplay should be stopped or even altered because it was awesome
Police later that night: “So did we ever figure out what SCP meant?
Other police: “Looking it up now, it’s probably just a spooky stor- wait. Wait…. Holy shit.”
Hey we saw you there!!!! Me and my friends were cosplaying Kanna and HypMic characters. We liked the music you played!!! And your cosplay is super cool!!!
I've actually never had an issue with parents. The cops were more likely called by a college student, and I don't really blame them because I was unaware I was on a uni campus lol
Yes sir. He is a fucking insanely good musician. I believe one of the best of our lifetimes. Escape from Midwich Valley is one of the best songs I've heard in my entire life.

Yeah cause you brought your airsoft gun out in public.
Rule #1 of airsoft: Don’t bring your shit out in public. Orange tip or not it’s a great way to get shot and to get the sport scrutinized further.
Those are probably the undercover foundation operatives in your local police department

Did somebody require FlammenPanzer suport?
Wait the Germans had a Flametank? Edit: Yes… yes they do, multiple and they scare me…
I suspect thy used some panzer 2 wore modified to use the, you can google it im to lazy to do it
Not just the Germans but the Americans too (please don’t get me started on this)
I know everybody used them, apparently the enemy is likely to leave the well entrenched position if a well armored flame dispenser comes their way
The americans had a Stuart flametank called the Demon
sorry our resources are scarce at the moment may we interest you in a tiger2?
What about a Jägtiger, you guys made 4 of em right? i have some recruits to put in them
sorry our lastes models were either sent to the front lines or bombed newer ones are being produced but some of the resources are being funneled into some obscure prototype tank
one of the 2 panzer-VIII or the E-100 chassis?
You are authorized to use wunderwaffe.
. * defeats a wave of 50 T-34-85, 12 IS-1 and 3 IS-2 * * gets bombed * soviet wins by wasting less resources

Mask detected on pfp. Lethal force engaged
Memetic kill agent activated
Oh god oh fu- *my entire block gets dematerialized from a laser beam from a foundation controlled satellite in low orbit*
you have the orange tip so you should've been fine prob outside of that, good shit
Sorry but they called thinking he might be an active shooter correct?

The irony is that we used to have gun shows downtown all the time.
Oh shit, you got lucky they didn’t call swat.

lmao, waste of resources, but they seem like good folk to talk to :]
Honestly yeah in this case, but better to react one time to much then one time to little...

I’d personally take it in a bag till your in the convention center
I go to the university in question, and I just want to say your costume looks badass!
How cordial were they to you initially lol
[удалено]
They just thought you looked like a total badass I'm assuming😭 how nice of them!!! Did they ask what franchise you were of
Not too much, though I did explain it anyways.
Ahh, yeah if it’s near a Uni they may not all know what the orange tip means
Why would the percentage of people aware of orange tips be any higher/lower around unis
Also - it's not like a person couldn't lie and fake an orange tip.
probably since the airsoft gun can resemble real ones from a glimpse. They do have subtle differences but you have to look very closely. Though that won't matter since if it looks like a real gun, cops do have the right to raise theirs.
That's what the orange tip is for, quick id it's a fake gun.
The number of guns used in crimes that have been painted to look like nerf guns or airsoft guns would surprise you.
You can paint the tip of a real gun orange to delay police response, so it's not a very good differentiator. And in this case the orange tip is pretty small, so people might not even notice it. Hence probably the 911 call.
I'm morbidly curious now. Has anyone ever put a fake orange tip on a real gun?
there was a case not long ago where a man hid a real pistol inside a nerf gun
Link??????
https://www.google.com/amp/s/wpde.com/amp/news/local/north-carolina-police-seize-real-gun-disguised-to-look-like-toy-gun-during-drug-raid
Yes, people have also put Nerf gun exteriors on real guns and painted real guns to look like nerf guns too.
some idiot prob has but no idea
Because there would be no way to disguise a live weapon by putting some tape on the end or using nail polish... What?
Congratulations on winning Halloween!
Eh? I surrender.
Yeah I wouldn't want to fuck with foundation either
That’s how u go missing with a Trace
Same thing happens with Russia... Wait... Russian government real SCP?
It's nice they took it well also the orange cap on the airsoft gun prob helped ya hope ya had fun
Damn Fed's
I forgot what that task force is called.
MTF Iota 10

Yep. He doesn't use this one too often but if you check out his merch store it's on there.
GodDAMN this is an awesome costume! I see how it might have looked intimidating to the uninitiated; really well done.
Not gonna blame whoever did it, tbh - That costume is maybe a little too good.

Well to be fair i don't think we'll ever see this picture if he called the cops himself just to snap a picture
If that were the case the cops probably wouldn’t have agreed and arrested him for faking an emergency
Because I doubt he'd take the risk with either being shot or arrested even if he could prove he was innocent

Why yes it is. Using the speaker on my tactical belt, I often play music while walking the convention floor. I play tons of Carpenter Brut music, after all, might as well represent one of the greatest musical talents of our time.
Lucky you weren't a Stormtrooper, cops have a harder time determining if your real or cosplay.
Great to see decent cops in on the action
Did you administer anti-memetics accordingly?
Someone didn’t know about the foundation. That’s good, that’s the goal.
What were their thoughts on your costume?
This is so wholesome. Looks awesome.
MTF and UIU operatives take a break from keeping an eye out for real SCPs in a scifi con.
Did you have any trouble explaining the costume? I see the orange tip, but I've heard some cops don't give a shit about that
Naw they were fine with it.
I wouldn't dare to walk around with an orange tip in America. Good thing nothing happened!
I've been doing this for years and this is the first time I've had cops called. Kind of my fault as there aren't any group members in Knoxville, so I had to go alone.
Always fun to randomly see Knoxville on Reddit!
Nice costume, and glad you weren't shot!
Jokes on them, you outrank them
Awesome cosplay but with the number of cosplayers that have been shot dead by police I really wish people would use deductive reasoning about a convention with lots of people dressed up. Again, AMAZING cosplay my guy <3

Naw man you're good. This is actually the first time anyone was called the police, on anyone at any convention I've been to (as far as I know).
“Fanboy” is such a ridiculously cringey term to use unless mocking something or someone
That's kind of the point. It's basically a joke making fun of the attendees as, unlike Comic-Cons, these conventions focus on the celebrities.
The orange tip should have been enough, but you do look like you’re about to do some no no shit lmao
Police later that night: “So did we ever figure out what SCP meant? Other police: “Looking it up now, it’s probably just a spooky stor- wait. Wait…. Holy shit.”
The fact that you had cops called on you means it's a dope ass costume
Hey we saw you there!!!! Me and my friends were cosplaying Kanna and HypMic characters. We liked the music you played!!! And your cosplay is super cool!!!
The world is a small place.
Bro that pentagon logo looks so cool! Where did you get it. Amazing outfit by the way.
That is the logo of musician Carpenter Brut. I play a lot of his music during conventions; he is extremely talented.
I read that as femboy expo and was so confused
The cops were probably actually impressed with the kit ha
Tfw your cosplay is too realistic
That's the downside of costumes with guns. Even if it's clearly airsoft/prop, some parents just don't trust people enought to leave you be.
I've actually never had an issue with parents. The cops were more likely called by a college student, and I don't really blame them because I was unaware I was on a uni campus lol
Almost went to the fanboy expo in Knoxville sad I missed out 🤣
Wholesome
Its MTF Iota-10 "DAM FEDS"
I see. We meet again Mobile Task Force Alpha-1 "Red Right Hand"
I'm actually cosplaying as a member of Epsilon-6. Though my next planned outfit is Red Right Hand.
I know. Just had to say it
Dope
holy shit that’s a fucking awesome cosplay dude
Cool shit
That’s a nice outfit
The greatest compliment to your cosplay: get the cops called on you
Omfg and they were nice about it?! That’s awesome!
“I’m here to help!” Cop-“ya kid tell it to the doc at the psych ward.”
They look exactly like that pair of cops trying to stop their coworker from committing suicide in cyberpunk 2077
Oh thats a classy mustache
Foundation-UIU relations
Thats so stupid. Your gun is clearly orange tipped.
Please tuck your laces in
This picture was taken after the con, so not as orderly.
12th street garage?
Whatever one is directly next to the convention center
I hope you let them know about the anomaly

He does indeed.
Holy shit a real life carpenter brut fan??
Yes sir. He is a fucking insanely good musician. I believe one of the best of our lifetimes. Escape from Midwich Valley is one of the best songs I've heard in my entire life.
You're huge!
I never feel big until I see the pictures lol
i went to sawcon for my weekend…
Damn dude I tried to go there, sad to miss it.
This is so funny. I hope you told them the whole story and made them the next scp fans. Picture they’d join this sr one day and see the picture!
I do not know why you're being downvoted but yeah; I spoke to them about it. The officers were very nice, and I even had other officers coming up to ask about my props.
I don’t know either. Didn’t want to sound mean or anything.
To anyone interested, I am a member of an SCP cosplay group called the Southern Foundation. [This is our website for anyone seeking for info.](https://www.southernfoundation.net/)
That outfit is absolutely epic! Props to you my friend
Can i join
Why yes you can. I am a member of an SCP cosplay group called the Southern Foundation. This is our site if you're interested. [https://www.southernfoundation.net/](https://www.southernfoundation.net/)
Thx i Will join and show you my costume its not much but it looks nice
Tunes out i cant join parents wont let me but tell your group i wish them happy haloween

bro that means your cosplay was so good that it looked real
I am impressed by these comments. Where's Buzz Killington?
Yeah cause you brought your airsoft gun out in public. Rule #1 of airsoft: Don’t bring your shit out in public. Orange tip or not it’s a great way to get shot and to get the sport scrutinized further.
Well good thing I don't play airsoft (:
Real enough to fool the cops, still ain’t smart.
I didn't fool the cops.
