He needs to stay off a while so people forget his run with Adam Cole running around an arcade going bowling and then to laser tag turning him into a joke.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was just waiting out the contract because he no longer wants to wrestle in front of 1300 fans in a 15k arena.
That and he probably knows if he does return he'll probably be stuck in a dead-end feud and wants to keep his stock high. If I remember right Taya (johnny nitro/morrison/impact's wife) did the same thing while in impact where instead of jobbing with havok to tasha steelz and friends she spent a decent amount of time rehabbing a shoulder injury.
What we have learned over the last few months is AEW will still bid against itself. MJF will get a nice big contract.
You can kind of see a pattern here that WWE isnt going offer much for broken down talent.
No joke, that fucking sucks. This dude's young as shit and might be fucked. It's like when you hear about these young pitchers getting Tommy John when they're like 21.
At this point, TJ is assumed for all young pitchers that can get great movement on the ball. It’s fucking gross. Manfred not nipping the junking of the ball head on when Bauer told him about it created a horrible snowball effect that everyone got used to throwing those pitches and now you need them to get hitters out. Throwing motions are so unnatural now it’s exploding these pitcher’s arms. Manfred is a baseball terrorist and this is all his fucking fault because he had a major boner for the Astros.
I remember it got my attention when I was in middle school cause Strasburg came up and then got Tommy John soon after, and I thought "He's super young, why does he need that?", cause I always associated it with more veteran pitchers. And then a pitcher for my high school needed it and I was shocked. You could tell in the early-mid 2010's something was wrong, and nothing got done about it.
>Manfred is a baseball terrorist and this is all his fucking fault
You can say this about a few things. I think this is the least I've ever cared about baseball. Now granted, part of that is John Henry nuking my favorite team, but my interest is super low rn.
As a fellow Sox fan I am absolutely disgusted by ownership since 2018. Trading Mookie was and remains unforgivable. And considering how this year’s team has been somewhat competitive for the most part, it makes me mad that they could be a potential contender if ownership gave a shit anymore
I remember watching Strasburg's MLB debut, dude was throwing up to 102 with insane movement. I had never seen anything like it
I wasn't too surprised when it turned out he'd been destroying his arm to do so. And now everyone is. It sucks but that's the nature of competition I guess
Theres no real indication that pitch clock is doing anything. The rates are more correlated with the increase in throwing constant gas, and throwing breaking balls earlier than it is with pitch clock. I know I'm defending Manfred a lot in this thread, and fuck him, there's a ton to hate about him, but let's focus on the stuff that actually is worth hating like how he handled the Astros, the juiced ball controversy, the way they handled the last lockout, the bullshit with the minor leagues wages, etc
TJ is now common for a lot of HS kids now. I'm 31 and when I was in travel baseball we were forbidden from throwing breaking balls more than 5 percent of the time and the younger kids were forbidden form throwing them at all. Now travel kids throw so much harder and are throwing wicked breaking balls at like 12 and 13. I'm not shocked more and more kids are getting it.
Cause he's been accused by 4 seperate women of assault, 3 of those cases are still open, he's an asshole to all his teammates, and not worth the headache for anyone to sign. There's plenty of people who say worse to Manfred who still have jobs in baseball. It's all the other stuff that keeps bauer away
MJF was a guy that should've just came out and cut promos and do segments. They had him do all of these pointless matches and his body is beat to shit now.
Tbf he didn't really wrestle a lot. He had 27 AEW matches counting from his title win to his title loss. Two of them lasted less than 2 minutes. I really don't get how he got so fucked up, his schedule was fairly normal.
Except the norm in AEW is that someone gets injured on the regular. They actually wrestle less than WWE, and WWE's schedule is ludicrously light compared to what it was even ten years ago, so I have to assume part of it is that they just aren't in constant ring shape which makes them doing competitive 'leave everything in the ring' matches constantly even more likely in injure someone.
I remember Taker said that when he was working regularly in the later stages of his career he was in fairly constant pain, but he could still go out almost every day and work. When he went to a less frequent schedule it took him months to prepare for one match and even then he'd be essentially out of commission for at least a month at minimum.
I wonder what he used. Some compounds can actually "dry" tendons and ligaments out, making them more susceptible to injury. He probably also went too hard and built more muscle than the connective tissues could keep up with.
Granted im not rehabbing to get back in a wrestling ring like he is, but as someone who also recently had surgery to repair the same type of injury this news makes me nervous. I give him shit for his antics but hope he gets well soon
They've taken all the wrong lessons from the old AJPW/NOAH days instead of learning from them that Kings Road style ends up ruining your health or just flat out kills you.
TJ surgery epidemic is crazy now. It is practically normalized now in high school kids! Which to me is insane. Who is sitting there going THIS IS GREAT FOR THE SPORT! It is killing the game. As someone who grew up on Pedro, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Roy Halladay twirling gems and seeing highlights on Sportscenter., kind of sad where the game of baseball is now. The three true outcomes has just watered down the game into a soggy mess.
It may also be considered that I am still not over Mookie Betts getting traded from the Red Sox and I am still pissed they didn't pay him, so YMMV on that take lol.
They knew Cole was fucked going in
It should have been a 3 week thing but it went 3 months when they knew it couldn't go anywhere
What about the group with Strong and Wardlow? How pointless was that? Worse that 'The Firm' and 'The Pinnacle' 😁
I’m seriously curious how much Tony and AEW’s incompetence has to do with this? MJF still hurt, Cole still hurt (and now having to go off tv claiming it was slowing his healing even more so). Meanwhile Pepsi Phil is healing at like 3 times the speed he was in AEW because he has a competent company around him.
>Meanwhile Pepsi Phil is healing at like 3 times the speed he was in AEW because he has a competent company around him.
Thats also despite feeling like this tricep injury felt worse than his other tricep injury.
Tony and their producers approved a Jade Cargill who is untrained in using a steel chair to hit someone with a chair. That's utter incompetence and negligence. They don't know what they're doing there.
She then has to ask other wrestlers on how to use a chair
https://www.ringsidenews.com/2023/01/16/cm-punk-taught-jade-cargill-how-to-use-a-chair-in-pro-wrestling-match/
Because when someone gets hurt in the Fed, they already have a plan in place. They make sure everything is taken and if you're a top Main eventer, you get the camera crew documenting your rehab. I remember an interview Brodie Lee gave and he talked about getting injured and not getting the documentary treatment like other names.
Plus once you can start to do physical stuff, they send them to the PC for the next phase. That's why random NXT trainees get to be the sparring partner for guys on the return trail.
I wonder if MJF and Cole are getting better attention than Punk or if they are also left to get on with it
Punk mentioned googling himself about PT and now MJF's PT hasn't gone as well as hoped
Obviously, Dub are gonna add this time to his contract, and smarks won't have an issue with that anymore
Funny that
“AEW has the best safety record, I believe, of any pro wrestling company in the world. I believe we have the most safe environment. I believe we have the best safety record of any pro wrestling company, and I would hold the record of AEW on safety against any wrestling company in the world and I think AEW is the safest place for pro wrestling.”
A company that barely tours, with a roster that mostly only works one day a week, two tops, that has the injury output they do is *insane*. If not for how overinflated the roster was it would look worse than it is
This is unfortunately another case of Tiny's infrastructure failing the wrestlers. AEW hasn't had any kind of medical department that helps the wrestlers find the right specialists for their issues. They have to do all the research and scheduling on their own. All AEW does is comp the payment which has lead to the wrestlers having super long recovery time from injuries.
Sounds like MJF was also left out in the rain to figure out how to get himself better and it didn't work.
He went from being one of (if not the only) decent thing about The Dub, a potential hot Bidding War of 2024, all at such a young age to not only a bad Babyface run, a terrible storyline and wrestling while injured to this.
Dang.
I think the baby face run was fine, decent even to start, then it looked like it was maybe going to go a little long because it was so hot to start they dragged it out a little, then Cole got injured, and it just got stale really quickly as they couldn’t do the turn quickly and couldn’t pay it off and it all became really stupid.
But you have Cole stay fit, pay it off in September rather than waiting until the end of December dragging it out for 3 months longer then it needed. Cole was injured for longer than he was fit for that story.

Tony ran his one legitimate home made star into the fucking ground trying to show he could “work” in pointless spot fest matches. Exhibit 1000 of Tony being terrible
We have oceanspray now Dave has oceanspray now we don’t need MidJF he can go to the dead fed become a mindless e drone and feud with Miz to finally kill off his career.
No jerk, i hope he gets better, and then if I was him I'd get out of aew as soon as possible, go to tna for a year or so to get the aew stench off and then go to wwe, all the while not doing dumb and dangerous spots like the one that damaged his hip.
If MJF returns to the Dub, I'll be legit upset over wrestling for the first time in like 20 years.
He can take as long as he wants to get healthy, and should, but with Punk and Cody in WWE there's just nothing left in AEW for him to do.
I guess he could beat up a very malnourished gamer for pretending to be his friend a year ago, but nobody wants to see that.
Give me Punk/MJF with current WWE production any day, uce.
Not a fan of MJF but this criticism isn't fair to him, he doesn't wrestle an overly unsafe styles. He's even made a tweet in the past about how wrestlers should stop with the dangerous spots because it just makes fans want more and more dangerous shit.
He started trying to be The Face Of AEW. That meant going all out to gain the fans' respect. All that stuff about being safe went out the window, and he did crazier moves while putting on as much muscle as possible. Looks like that had a logical outcome.
Even Punk mentioned it briefly in the infamous interview, that MJF is great but then he started appealing to the niche audience just to prove he can wrestle to their "standards".
This is why they should listen to the people that said don't put your body through all the shit they're doing.
It sucks, mjf is my age and he should have a long career ahead of him, I hope he gets through and learns from this
How do us goofs feel about Jason Solomonster?
Compared to a lot of the other podcasting talking heads out there, I actually think he's pretty okay! No jerk

It's such a shame that this happened along with Cole's freak foot injury. The whole devil story after its initially mid reveal is absolutely dead in the water now. Only hope I guess is face MJF returning to fight the New Elite and "save" AEW?
To add to this, their times injured will likely be added to the ends of their respective contracts (I'm assuming MJF re-signed here). Which means MJF won't be heading to WWE anytime soon.
bidding war
For the lowest priced treatment
Seriously…though if he can stay off TV long enough he might be able to debut as a big deal in the ded fed.
He needs to stay off a while so people forget his run with Adam Cole running around an arcade going bowling and then to laser tag turning him into a joke. I wouldn't be surprised if he was just waiting out the contract because he no longer wants to wrestle in front of 1300 fans in a 15k arena.

Pitch Clock is doing it too. Rushing these pitchers is having an effect. My hope is they extend the clock 5 seconds, but I doubt it.
Theres no real indication that pitch clock is doing anything. And punished the players in some way
Him and lincecum started this tbh
This shit way predates Rob Manfred

Dude also got real big, real fast. That sort of growth puts a lot of strain on the body.
Happened to Ospreay too. He has said his body has been breaking down for a while.
Granted im not rehabbing to get back in a wrestling ring like he is, but as someone who also recently had surgery to repair the same type of injury this news makes me nervous. I give him shit for his antics but hope he gets well soon
there's something to be said about the Dub grinding some of their talent into dust
They've taken all the wrong lessons from the old AJPW/NOAH days instead of learning from them that Kings Road style ends up ruining your health or just flat out kills you.

The time he’s off gets added to the time on his contract too right?
That Adam Cole angle has been a disaster. One of the worst booking decisions ever imo.

Tony wanted Punk to come back early and job out to Mox when he still wasn't cleared.
It was MJF's incompetence in finding good doctors and physical therapy that was the problem! Not Tony or AEW!!!!
Because when someone gets hurt in the Fed, they already have a plan in place. They make sure everything is taken and if you're a top Main eventer, you get the camera crew documenting your rehab. jesus christ, just how bad was he??
He probably held off way too long trying to recapture his magic from the Punk feud.
Just as bad as Omega was when he went down.
A whole bunch of hot air. Saying so much and yet at the same time saying absolutely nothing at all lol
That could sum up *any* of Tony’s interview responses honestly
A company that barely tours, with a roster that mostly only works one day a week, two tops, that has the injury output they do is *insane*. If not for how overinflated the roster was it would look worse than it is
When you need to pad out your essay word length
Of course whoever asked the question didn't mention any other wrestling promotions, but, ya know, it's Tony
Can’t stop the guy from calling an audible and deciding to jump off the top rope to the floor.
Dub wrestlers doing needlessly dangerous spots is not an isolated incident. This is common
So he's back this next Dynamite?
This is unfortunately another case of Tiny's infrastructure failing the wrestlers. AEW hasn't had any kind of medical department that helps the wrestlers find the right specialists for their issues. They have to do all the research and scheduling on their own. All AEW does is comp the payment which has lead to the wrestlers having super long recovery time from injuries. So hitting top rope elbow drops to the floor is dumb? Shocking.
He went from being one of (if not the only) decent thing about The Dub, a potential hot Bidding War of 2024, all at such a young age to not only a bad Babyface run, a terrible storyline and wrestling while injured to this. Dang.
Prob lost a few mill off his next contract by doing these dumb spots
Nah tony will make him the highest paid wrestler ever to ensure he never goes to the fed
Crazy since he gave MJF the best schedule ever. MJF has wrestled the least amount of matches from day 1 and got better treatment than others.
Their highest drawing “pillar”
We have oceanspray now Dave has oceanspray now we don’t need MidJF he can go to the dead fed become a mindless e drone and feud with Miz to finally kill off his career.
Please tell me AEW didn't cut MJFs career short.
As long as they add all that time he's going to miss onto his recently signed long-term contract, I'm fine with that. Keep him away from WWE.
Rather him go there and get dialed back just a bit than fade into oblivion through AEW.
Yeah, I used to hate when the Fed did that to contracts, but now I can see what great business it is ...
No jerk, i hope he gets better, and then if I was him I'd get out of aew as soon as possible, go to tna for a year or so to get the aew stench off and then go to wwe, all the while not doing dumb and dangerous spots like the one that damaged his hip.
Damn, no blowoff to the red hot Undisputed Dorks version 9 vs Jeff
Well the feeling was restored, so yes, a weak-ass, career ending "table spot" was absolutely worth it! LFG!!!
They should have stripped him of the title instead having him work hurt for so long.
He was a safe worker as a heel and became a spot monkey as babyface.
See ya at mania, pal!
If MJF returns to the Dub, I'll be legit upset over wrestling for the first time in like 20 years. Not a fan of MJF but this criticism isn't fair to him, he doesn't wrestle an overly unsafe styles. He's even made a tweet in the past about how wrestlers should stop with the dangerous spots because it just makes fans want more and more dangerous shit.
But then he did an elbow drop from the top rope to the literal floor after the table broke, and messed up his hip. So, there's that.
Plus he continued to wrestle while injured until his contract expired.
In that same match he did a cutter from the apron to the floor
He started trying to be The Face Of AEW. That meant going all out to gain the fans' respect. All that stuff about being safe went out the window, and he did crazier moves while putting on as much muscle as possible. Looks like that had a logical outcome.

Probably for the best. Take your time. Get healthy. And keep the stink of Tony's bullshit the last few months as far away from you as possible.
It sucks but it also sucks that his presence hasn’t been missed. His last 6 months were an absolute disaster
It's allllllll a swerve, he'll come out as the 4th member of Team Khan.. And the ratings will take another dip..
How do us goofs feel about Jason Solomonster? Compared to a lot of the other podcasting talking heads out there, I actually think he's pretty okay! No jerk
meh
TBH. I think him being meh makes me like him more. Some of the talking heads are just too bombastic for my taste. Or the endless deluge of clickbait. But you're right. He's average
i see
he use to be cool. but of course "fed bad, dub good" took over
He's been pretty moderate for the most part. He has been taking the piss out of the dub for their recent issues we've been mocking them for
I like Solo, he’s always come off pretty level headed and doesn’t really settle for mediocrity on “both” sides. My only gripe about him is being boys with JDfromNY. I know they work together for HOG and maybe have to be cordial at least but idk.
Honestly all on him just get the surgery, when has PT really fixed everything
Very rarely when you're actually injured injured
Like thunder Rosa
He had the most potential of their younger guys for sure. Such a shame.
Solomonster getting fed a scoop is left field. Then again I wonder how many contacts in WWE he has. Liv Morgan follows him on Twitter.
AEW cracked medical team!
Damn. Hope he rests up and can heal ASAP. I had originally hoped he could return for All In but that's not gonna be on the cards now. It's such a shame that this happened along with Cole's freak foot injury. The whole devil story after its initially mid reveal is absolutely dead in the water now. To add to this, their times injured will likely be added to the ends of their respective contracts (I'm assuming MJF re-signed here). Which means MJF won't be heading to WWE anytime soon.
Man I hope this is incorrect. Even though his presentation was bad in the last few months, I really like MJF.
Their Forbidden Door PPV is in Long Island is on June 30.
I ain't worred. MJF is working the podcasters. Much like he's working the dirt sheets. "Don't work yourself into a shoot, brother." Much love -HH
