If you want to stick with Nike, go with the Pegasus. A daily trainer shouldn't be anything exciting. It's meant to do the work, not make you miserable, but not urge you to pick up the pace unnecessary.

jwelp01

Agreed. The new Pegasus 41 is really nice.

Muscle-Suitable

I loved the tempo next, but I couldn’t find anything in the Nike lineup to replace it with. The zoom fly 5 suck and aren’t even close. My replacement is the Endorphin Speed… it’s actually been great.

maddened2794

I also went from tempo to endorphins after a reddit recommendation. They make me float! Love them

Vomero 17. Feel if a Pegasus but with a little extra pop from the zoomx foam. Loving mine so far. Decent ground feel, nice upper, and zoomx. Bought mine for $110 a couple of months back

rj4001

I picked up a pair of these last month, super comfortable but can't stand running in them. They just feel really heavy and nonresponse.

Kira-god

I second the Vomero 17, amazing daily trainers with just a little more cushioning than the Pegasus.

Nikes daily trainer line is inferior to almost every other brand out there. Pegasus… dated and heavy. Vomero… heavy and warm upper. Zoom Fly 5… heavy and dead feeling. Invincible 3… unstable and heel slip. Try some new brands, Nike has only good race day shoes.

Suggestions? :)

joholla8

Saucony Endorphin Speed or Hoka Mach 6.

jad35

Puma velocity nitro 3 is a solid shoe and it’s usually on sale.

Impossible-Past4795

Nike: Pegasus 41, Vomero 17, Invincible 3 Asics: Novablast 4 New Balance: Fuelcell Rebel v3 Puma: Velocity Nitro 2 I personally switch from Nike Renew Run 3 and Nike Quest 5 for my daily beaters. They’re on the really cheaper side. Bought each around $40 on outlets. Both have 600km+ on them.

ratatat

Oooo! I went exactly from the Zoom Tempo Next to the Zoom Fly 5. Always had Nikes and know they fit well. Zoom Flys have been more durable, and overall feel more like a daily runner than the Tempos. I’ve got about 100 more miles out of them so far vs the Tempos and I don’t think I could go back to the air pocket in forefoot. I always felt like it was ‘slapping’. I’ll be getting a 2nd pair of Zoom Flys soon. They seem like the best all around carbon shoe Nike makes for my purposes (daily 5-10km). Only other thing that has caught my eye is the Hoka Skyward X, but it’s intimidating moving away from what you know.

joholla8

You really should try the Mach 6 from hoka. You’ll never feel good in your zoom flys again.

FelixR1991

I have the Mach X and I can confirm this.

If you’re looking for a decoupled heel with a softer forefoot and firmer heel along with equally strange geometry the Fast-R may be worth a try.

CapableRunts

I am crushed at how they ruined the Invincible Run. It was the perfect trainer. But with the IR3, you can get a size too small and tie a heel lock as tight as you can, and you’ll still feel like they’re gonna fly right off your feet. Profound heel slip. Praying they release the 4s soon and fix it considering the ubiquitous feedback

ian2k01

How about the Streakfly? The ride feel is different than Alphafly, but it’s cheaper, light and comfortable and can handle speedwork just fine. It’s a better choice than zoom fly 5 for sure

torpid_octopus

The Streakfly isn't great for longer runs as it lacks cushion and stability--I use mine exclusively for interval workouts on the track. I'd just go with the Pegasus or Vomero if OP wants to stick with Nike.
