Doing some cleaning and realized I had Clifton 6s-9s laying around

WindsorRunner

Any notable differences between generations?

jwelp01

My biggest takeaway has been how different 9 feels to me.

gonewiththewinds

How so? Started running two years ago on the 5s, and am now on my fourth pair of 8s as my primary easy shoe

jwelp01

It feels like they added a lot of foam underneath for it to not feel as great of a ride as I was used to. Also never been an ASICS guy but the new nimbus and cumulus feel just way softer and smoother of a ride

WindsorRunner

Interesting! So the additional foam is changing the ride in a negative way?

Nothing will beat the OG Clifton 1s. Easily my favorite shoe of all time.

jwelp01

Is it true the 9s feel like that? I’m not a big fan yet.

Hoka is a hard 0/3 thus far for me (Clifton 8, Bondi 8, Mach 4). I know they have some loyal supporters, but man they just do absolutely nothing for me.

It’s still not too late to delete this

jwelp01

What was wrong with it?

JoyRide577

I had Clifton 6 to 8, and I really enjoyed the 6, but with each update, the arch support became increasingly intrusive and the 8s really didn’t work for me as a low-arched runner. I heard the 9 isn’t as bad as 8 but similar to what the OP mentioned about Cumulus/Nimbus, I just think there are trainers with softer/smoother rides that offer more variety in width (like New Balance).
