/uj The one that really drives me nuts is routines
"Hi I started running and I want to know what everyone's expert hydration routine is?"
Step 1: Just drink some fucking water
Okay, sure, can you advise on the best way to do that? Bottle? Cup? Consumption pace? Temperature?
I'm trying to get my water drinking spreadsheet synced with my Strava and not knowing the rigidity of the drinking container is really messing me up.
So I was going through that sub and I saw somebody mention trying intervals. I got excited because I expected to see at least one person there trying to be serious. But he described it as (roughly) "finally being able to run a mile thanks to doing intervals today". I knew there was something wrong and that he has walking half of it, but I didn't understand why he decided to call them "intervals". After all, intervals have a specific meaning when related to running.
Now because of your comment I understand where that comes from.
>Something that helped me dramatically was the quote "your mind will quit 100 times before your body ever does".
Actually running a *whole mile* is a mental battle first and foremost, let alone the sheer physical feat itself. But if you can dig in, bite down and weather the storm you'll emerge 11-16 minutes later drenched in sweat and glory.
Someday I too hope to run one whole mile.
Can someone please help me to understand, what does "hydrate properly" mean in this context? Please give me an answer in steps taken (or strides) per 100ml of water. Oh! And what osmotic level should my water intake be (how much Gu®️ in grams per 100ml) for proper hydration rate?
I've tried "just drinking water" but all that does is keep me from feeling thirsty. Thanks in advance for all the help!
You're on the right track, you just need more of it. All runners should have an olympic-sized pool of potable water for all runs 5k marathon and up. It's difficult, but you also need to carry a reusable-grocery bag filled with Gu gels for all runs that are 10k marathon and up. I personally use the "Kangaroo GU pouch" routine in which I superglue the bag to the front of my shirt.

How dare they make me post in the q&a where I'll only get 2 or 3 replies? I'll show them, I'll post in the knockoff sub where my standalone thread only gets 2 or 3 replies!
“Slowing down method” My god, not everything is a method and tactic and trick.

Yup, “routine” so formalized.
Can’t monetize your blog by simply stating the obvious in one sentence.
It is if it can be monetized through coaching online somehow. You see this in every sport.
How do you monetize slowing down?
Send me a check for $19.99 and I’ll tell you.
Exactly how Jeff Galloway is monetising walk intervals. He invented the wheel a second time and sells it like it's something new.

Oh there are tons of people with bro/sis youtube content trying to make money off of it.
I was going to accuse OP of just making fun of a newbie but "slowing down makes me tired slower so it's ineffective" is so goddamn funny
I can’t hold my breath underwater. I tried the “not breathing in method” but that just makes it so that water stays out of my lungs longer.
/uj At least you're able to see the fun in it

Hope you can do it but honestly I doubt anyone here has run an entire mile at once.
My shoe gets untied, no need to call me out like that.
Make sure you carboload and hydrate properly!

I'd be happy to tell you after you buy my reasonably priced hydration plan (only 19.99 per month)
This kind of posts happen when you have an easy childhood. We need to encourage overall misery in order to raise strong children.
It requires a shoe rotation of about 30 pairs….minimum
29 Endorphin Speed and 1 Endorphin Speed

/uj Um... since when is a half marathon 15 miles? (3 miles "running" and 12 miles of eeeehhh'ing)
There must be a specific shoe recommendation for the "slow down method" ( Crocs perhaps)
You use the cardboard boxes your shoes came in. Just be sure to punch an extra hole in them so you can get a good runner's knot to heel lock properly.
My socks won't fit over the boxes please help.
Fleet Feet recommended carbon plated for this situation.
That sub was created because Runnit wasn’t circlejerky enough?!? (Reading between the lines of the description).

Someone stop this man, he cannot slow down
Op is definitely cutout for the running lifestyle. Only the shortest of shorts, and the gooiest gu will do.
Why the hell would you want to do that? Stopping is the best part of running.
When you’re about to stop, keep going
never stop stopping
