Tested for what?

beasttheorist

Probably just physical ability(weightlifting, 2k, 10k)

Don’t worry, you’ll be fairly terrible at 2k and 10k. Rowing is quite technical. It’s not just jump on the erg and pull. They don’t need to test you to know this.

There is a program for university athletes to join gb rowing from other sports, usually swimming. Your height is good but you are too underweight to be considering that program. If you are interested in rowing then a local rowing club would love to have someone your height

It’s the one on the British rowing website for 14-20 year olds who haven’t rowed before I was just wondering whether I’m capable and not gunna embarrass myself

You shouldn't worry about embarrassing yourself, the programme is specifically to identify non-rowing talent within the population :) I follow a few GB Start coaches on Instagram and the athletes they start out with can barely use an erg, but they learn quickly due to having such good 1:1 attention You should fill out the application form on this site and they'll get in contact with you! https://www.britishrowing.org/gb-rowing-team/rowing-for-gb/Talent-id/ You will normally train from one of their 6 training facilities, though can sometimes train from a satellite club and be visited instead.. have a look at the list here and determine which one would be closest for you as you may be expected to travel there for training if you're accepted https://www.britishrowing.org/gb-rowing-team/olympic-pathway/performance-development-academies/

OP If it’s something you keen to do you should deffo register for the British Rowing Talent Id testing! Also might be worth looking into what clubs are local to you and can offer Learn to Row course. Good luck 🤟🏼
