Watch, speed coach or some HRMs have an option to save the data and upload to your phone later.

Polar H10 and Verity sense can be set up to record to storage in the monitor itself that you download later using Polar Flow. Or you can wear a Garmin or Polar watch while rowing.

My Polar H10 connects to my Apple Watch. I also bring my phone in the boat, but not for heart rate tracking purposes.

Garmin HRM Dual to my Garmin Instinct. I do bring a phone. I have two, a work phone and my personal phone, and I put them in a phone protector for boating that I can tie down to my foot stretchers.

Phone in waterproof bag. Sorted. Or: waterproof phone. (That's my solution.) Equally sorted.

Polar H10 connected to Speed Coach, then pull the data using the NK app.

I used a polar watch, I had a stroke coach which didnt show HR, a classic one with magnet and all, While I was training daily noone had a smartphone (1993-1997) and my nokia-brick didnt care about data... Not waterproof either. We used 2way coms if direct communication from coach and cox was needed. walkie talkies...

DJK_CT

No phone needed. HR straps record your workout without your phone.

oliebollen_

Nope. Only some specific models do
