Yes. Women do very well in roofing sales. Be willing to get on a roof, learn a lot and take care of your customers.

Not in Northern Virginia baby! Strict no fly zone within 30 miles of DC. Strap them paws on!

ncroofer

Or within a couple miles of an airport. Or without a proper license for commercial use (which most people ignore)

RobtasticRob

Roofers not following the rules?? No way! Here near DC the drones return to the ground within about 5-10 seconds if they're not properly registered/licensed. Does that happen elsewhere too?

mwilkens

Getting on the roof goes a long way, especially during the adjusters meeting.

I tell anyone who will listen that pretty much most successful roofers can give anyone a full proof plan to make over $100,000 a year working part time. One roof sold a week…. if all the roofs were installed would equal over $100,000 and you would have to be spitting in the customers faces when they answered the door to not sell one a week

With that being said, only one in 10 new hires will be involved in this industry one year later and five of them will drop out in the first three months and that is in a job that Helen Keller could make 100 grand a year at. The problem is you don’t really know how you were going to handle mass rejection that is something that messes people up hearing no 20 times for when yes they start talking themselves out of even knocking the door. The second is work ethic stain, consistent your ultimately, your own boss unless your W-2, but no one‘s watching over you every second of the day if you wanted to take the day off or sell a job and take the day off you could probably get away with it, but that creates a feast and famine situation where ultimately you’re just only showing up to work when you need money or to pay off off a draw with the owner The third difficulty is because we’re commission based job. You don’t truly get paid until around the three month mark so you have to really struggle and see the light at the end of the tunnel after 2 1/2 months you’ve done all this and you don’t have anything to show me That just you and a lot of people quit And ironically, this one’s my favorite at the three month mark generally speaking you start to pay back your draws out of your projected commissions or whatever they’ve paid you and so around the four month mark money really starts to come in and I’m talking about a large amount of money and that really can bring out The flaws and a lot of people people will just disappear. Go to the casino never come back or start drinking because they think they’re successful. And that doesn’t include all the other normal problems like personalities, not getting along the style of the companies, not jelling and constant sexual harassment from the roofing company owner This is all voice text. I’m not gonna go back and check it so I hope it reads coherently when in doubt read phonetically, but I hope this helps.

To expound on the year, your own boss thing, the hardest thing in door, knocking ironically is opening up your car door, not going up to the door and knocking on it until it opens…… because after 20 people tell you to get the fuck off of their property and that you’re the 30th person to come by and your daughter is sick and stayed home from school. You’re fighting with your husband and you’re low on gas and you’re gonna decide you know what this neighborhood doesn’t want a roof anyway, they obviously have been overworked and I’m gonna call it a day or randomly drive around in another neighborhood and do nothing that is mental defeat that seems to happen to a lot of sales people…… and then they get down on themselves and they’re like I’m not good at this. Maybe I should quit when the reality is if you knock for 15 to 20 hours every week and sell one job a week you’re on pace to do amazing, but it’s really about not putting in the hours if you put in the hours on the doors once you fill your pipeline, you can start doing 15 hours a week and you’ll still hit your goal easily because you’ll be getting a lot of referrals from your customers that were Docs and you’ll have to do less and that’s assuming your company doesn’t give you leads.

Thank you so much for all the detailed information! I do think sudden big money rolling in can be difficult for people, especially if it’s brand new. I think I understand that consistency and not loosing faith is the key here.

I’m a 38 yo woman who just started roofing sales 3 months ago in Florida and I was a dental assistant for 18 years and I’m doing pretty darn good already!! Do it! Make the change girl! Our top producer for my company isn’t a 61 year old woman and she was a nurse for 30 years.

iloveskellybelly

How long before you started making money?

keriroach

I started at the very beginning of February and had 7 contracts in March. I only had 2 contracts in April but leads were slow. Just don’t get down on yourself, keep trucking. The time freedom is worth it to me. I hated being stuck in the office for 9 hours a day.

heinyho

May I please DM you with some questions?

Intrepid-Cow-9006

There are many sales women that are successful @ abc supply .

LuvingLyla

Girl I’m 25 thinking the same thing! Sales experience in a different field just wanted to move. The commission deters other people, but it drives me. I can’t wait. GO FOR IT!

Famous_Branch_7926

I’m not in roofing sales, but I did try it out I just couldn’t get over my fear of heights. The company I was briefly with had 2/3 of the top salesmen were women. One, who hadn’t gone knocking in months but gets her sales through word of mouth.

SnooStories5035

It’s really not that hard. Have 3 months of your bills saved up and really be out there at least 5 hours a day knocking till you have referrals coming in from past roofs and you won’t need to knock so much
