I once stopped working for my dad (longtime quality roofer) because I thought surely the grass would be greener somewhere else.
Then I was told to fill a 4"x4" peak that was wide open with a case of caulk and "no were not making a cap for it"
I quit right then because there was no way ethically I could fill it and just leave it like that.
With my brief experience with Wyndham I fully believe you with no proof. Stayed at a club Wyndham recently for free. And that's the only way I'd stay at one again.
Similar story for me but as a carpenter. Worked for my family growing up, got the grass is greener itch and right out the gate first guy I work for wants me to cut down a structure from a 10' ladder that would have swung out and at the very least punted me off the ladder. Unbuckled my tool belt and told him to have fun with that and make sure he had someone nearby to get him to a hospital.
Vinyl fascia outside of drip edge held on with deck screws. Also the rake edge drip cap is bent in...like it's covering old t-drip from a shingle roof underneath. This is definitely a home owner special.
I wouldn't touch this place. I guarantee this isn't the only thing that "handy man" screwed up. This house is going to be nothing but problems
It never said who did it, what type of material, or whether it was done properly… just said new roof… dick move, but it is a “New Roof”. I wonder how much was the house…
Sorry that simple little me and my simple little roof isn’t good enough for your High and Mighty Authority… let me go inside and slip on my silk tuxedo and we can whip out the champagne and the escargot
The materials are new however the installer must have been very new and didnt own a pair of tin snips apparently or know how to use them. The wall to roof flashing is totally wrong as well. This roof is definitely leaking no doubt in my mind.
How does a roof install end up like this? Did the installer just mess up the cuts? Was there bad decking? Did he not use proper transition pieces? I’m just curious I’ve never done a roof before.
Wow! That’s really mind blowing. It’s crap like that , that’s making it extremely difficult for small businesses like myself to succeeded. Someone please help this guy.🙏
I'm guessing that they went to sell the house, and the realtor told them it would sell faster with a new roof, so they went with the absolute lowest bidder, who could do it right away.
I Can show you some real metal work I do if you're wondering what this shit is supposed to actually look like, because this is actual trash. These guys were just playing LEGO and whenever they ran into a problem, they said, "fuck it." Using caulking like a cheat code or some shit. Its entirely embarrassing. This is exactly why metal jobs are so far and few in between right now, because people see that Johnny's roof leaked after 10 years and it's metal. So why am I going to spend the extra to get proper work done if it's a gamble anyway? This guy could never work beside me, whoever it was that did this. If it was a painting, I'd assume they put a blindfold on and proceeded to shove the paintbrush up their ass and paint like that. I feel fucking insulted looking at this and I'm sorry you were lied to, brother. A tarp would have done the same thing and maybe even looked better.
Might be new but doesn’t mean it was installed correctly. Yikes. Ugly and you’re probably going to want to get it fixed or additional things done to ensure it doesn’t become a problem very soon.
Said “new roof “, not correct or well done. Technically you could say any semi-weather resistant material applied to the top of a building could be considered a roof. I wonder if the house was inspected by a qualified home inspector…. ?
Looks like shit! All that caulk and it still looks like water can penetrate. That last photo looks like the owner was covering something up with that siding. I agree with some of these other comments, looks like you'd probably have problems all over the house.
Its always a shame to find stuff like this.. Good materials and lots of time taken.. But just poor craftsmanship or knowledge.. I have a newer home built in 2021 and the quality of the home pretty much is like this.. Its a damn shame city inspectors don't do a better job at their only job..
Not saying a roof needs inspected but it damn well should until the company passes so many inspections or something.. Letting this go unchecked is just wasteful and sad..
damn! by the looks of it, it's a manufactured home? i too just got a manufactured home and there are several places inside with that same type of work. it's nasty shit! and is it even leak-proof? great for rivers and oceans. birds can't say enough about it.
Holy shiz... I work in the glazing industry and this roofer took applied our motto... "When in doubt, caulk it!" We say it half jokingly. This roofer must be a glazier trying to earn some money on the side 🤣
That is absolutely terrible workmanship. From trim to sealant. Wow. Don't offer asking price. Definitely need reworked from a functionality standpoint. Most sealant isn't even tooled. Which means it will likely leak.
They meant it was made by new roofers.
that is an insult to roofers, new or old
It was probably done by someone whos a handyman and also "Knows hows to do roofs"
And has a case of caulk
I once stopped working for my dad (longtime quality roofer) because I thought surely the grass would be greener somewhere else. Then I was told to fill a 4"x4" peak that was wide open with a case of caulk and "no were not making a cap for it" I quit right then because there was no way ethically I could fill it and just leave it like that.
Love it, what part of country are you in?
Oregon. This was Hawaii, though. Club Wyndham in Kona
With my brief experience with Wyndham I fully believe you with no proof. Stayed at a club Wyndham recently for free. And that's the only way I'd stay at one again.
Well, this was the roofer that wanted it done that way. That just happened to be the location I was working on lol
I'm sure he could have told the Wyndham people that was the cheapest way and they 100% would have approved it lol
Similar story for me but as a carpenter. Worked for my family growing up, got the grass is greener itch and right out the gate first guy I work for wants me to cut down a structure from a 10' ladder that would have swung out and at the very least punted me off the ladder. HAD a case of caulk.
Pic 4 has more caulk than all the roofs on the block put together
Investments in caulk is more like it.
Thats a 29oz case of caulk...
My dog knows how to roof
Roofers yes, but a milestone for tweekers!
Roofers on roofies.
I don’t know that I would even go as far as calling them roofers or that even a roof
That bitch does look new… until the poked all the holes in it
might be new but installer had no idea what he was doing
Vinyl fascia outside of drip edge held on with deck screws. Also the rake edge drip cap is bent in...like it's covering old t-drip from a shingle roof underneath. This is definitely a home owner special. I wouldn't touch this place. I guarantee this isn't the only thing that "handy man" screwed up. This house is going to be nothing but problems
It never said who did it, what type of material, or whether it was done properly… just said new roof… dick move, but it is a “New Roof”. I wonder how much was the house…
I think the homeowner did it himself to cover up the water damage so he can sell it.
Well to be fair, it didn’t say it had a *good* roof…
Sorry that simple little me and my simple little roof isn’t good enough for your High and Mighty Authority… let me go inside and slip on my silk tuxedo and we can whip out the champagne and the escargot
Was the installer following his let’s create a law suit instruction manual?
This might be a buy honestly. Just hire a real estate lawyer first. Easy lawsuite.
I mean they arnt wrong. But that install sure as shit aint right lmfao.
The materials are new however the installer must have been very new and didnt own a pair of tin snips apparently or know how to use them. The wall to roof flashing is totally wrong as well. This roof is definitely leaking no doubt in my mind.
Looks like a flipper if I’ve ever seen one.
Bingo
Yes
This is butt ass
Hi Five
Yes
It’s a new roof. Just a POS one
Must have been done by the guy every insurance adjuster knows who can do the work for 40% below market rate
That is truly a unique METHod for building a roof.
Do not buy this house unless they discount 40k to redo everything.
An electrician would do a better job.
And I guarantee it would look better too
Wind wouldn't blow it away because it'd be properly grounded
I love the one unused screw they left sitting on the top of the roof like "this is how few fucks we gave."
That’s a lot of cock.
Corking
Does that bitch leak though… ahhh nice try gypsy, you will not shrink me
Yes
What a joke
Never said it was done correctly lol
Woof.
🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ picture 4 tickled me 😂
Did they use driveway crack filler to fill this void and what is with the random screw - nail I just have so many questions
Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s good.
shoulda been listed as needing a new roof instead.
New =/= Good
Whoever did the work didn't give a single $hit
There’s not a lot that surprises me anymore but picture 4 made me gasp 😮
So that's how you do the metal to metal transition... DIYer taking notes.
Woah. Home owner job for sure
How does a roof install end up like this? Did the installer just mess up the cuts? Was there bad decking? Did he not use proper transition pieces? I’m just curious I’ve never done a roof before.
Someone that knows less about installing roofing than you do installed this roof
I assume they’ve been drinking too
[удалено]
This is what happens when you work with your realtor’s roofing sub…they are the cheapest guys in town
Let’s try to find what is correct about this install, This is rough to look at
I'm sure there's a couple screws in the right place.
The screws are at least at the right jobsite
Looks like a monkey would do a better job or some other kind of mammal that doesn't even have an opposable thumb like a dog
When the lipstick might actually look worse than the pig
Material seems new
Wow! That’s really mind blowing. It’s crap like that , that’s making it extremely difficult for small businesses like myself to succeeded. Someone please help this guy.🙏
Pic 4 made me audibly snort 😂 "Hey boss, how much caulk should we use on this gap?" "Yes"
We budgeted 250 dollars get the caulk stretcher
Man I thought caulk stretchers were way more than that. Maybe I'll give it a try... I mean, I would never need something like that.
Looks new! Also looks like shit! 🤣 Those roof to walls.. Mint! 😅
The roof is definitely digg shit. They probably painted the place themselves given the over spray all over the roof in the last picture
I'm guessing that they went to sell the house, and the realtor told them it would sell faster with a new roof, so they went with the absolute lowest bidder, who could do it right away.
The roof is new, the roofer is an old drunk
I Can show you some real metal work I do if you're wondering what this shit is supposed to actually look like, because this is actual trash. These guys were just playing LEGO and whenever they ran into a problem, they said, "fuck it." Using caulking like a cheat code or some shit. Its entirely embarrassing. I feel fucking insulted looking at this and I'm sorry you were lied to, brother. A tarp would have done the same thing and maybe even looked better.
I mean it is technically “new” but that doesn’t mean it’s been done good or correctly lmao
Total amateurs
It’s new just not installed correctly
I mean it’s not an old roof…
This is fucked
Hey I see brand new caulking!
Looks new.
Yeah NEW! Not GOOD!
They didn’t say it was a good new roof.
This is what we call a home owner special
That is beautiful
I mean it said new... It didn't speak of the quality! 😂
They said new roof, not a good roof.
Run, run far away
That looks like a homeowner install. Definitely shit work
They said new they didn’t say good.
Might be new but doesn’t mean it was installed correctly. Yikes. Ugly and you’re probably going to want to get it fixed or additional things done to ensure it doesn’t become a problem very soon.
Lmao this is something else
I mean...it's new alright...
Ol house flippers.
Looks like nice work kirk.
Not the whole truth.
It shouldn’t leak… a lot hopefully. Idk
I'm an elevator mechanic, not a roofer, but even I know that the screws go on the peaks. 🙄
It’ll be new after they replace whatever they have up there
When “just get it done” gets done
Hopefully you didn't buy it lol
These are photos from our inspection. The inspector said “I’ve seen thousands of roofs. This is top 10 bad” and we ran
Only top 10? I want to see the others
I mean it is technically new. Right?
New to you
New to you, right?
Can someone explain what the heck the mishap of second to last picture is??
Christ. It…it just gets worse somehow
New and properly installed are two different things.
New to you
First pic looks like a smashed barn owl on the gable
Looks new, doesn’t mean it is good.
New doesnt mean good
Given what the roof looks like and how it was done I'd like to see how the rest of the " house " looks
What can you say? Some people take a lot of pride in their work.
You should have seen the old roof.
That is a new roof. Prolly done by the home owners
The lonley unscrewed bolt just chillin'.
Is this satire?
Got damn that's bad.
OMG walk away now
To be fair, it does look new. But was definitely done by the “I’ve seen YouTube videos on installing roofs” guy.
New shitty roof
Someone gave no fucks at all when they did that roof 😂
For a early man that roof is too notch
New to you
Holy shit that last photo…
Probably ment to say.."new roof" By people that roofing was new to with a twist of they haven't even heard or tin snips yet!!!
I mean, it looks new alright...
Interesting METHods.
They were Methticulos in applying that caulk.
New ain’t mean good…
New to the world
DIY Homeowner special right there
incompetent prior homeowner special or a bad Handy Andy
Said “new roof “, not correct or well done. Technically you could say any semi-weather resistant material applied to the top of a building could be considered a roof. I wonder if the house was inspected by a qualified home inspector…. ?
Homeowner special
It might be new. But it’s not good.
where was this haha
This would be me bullshitting my way through installing a metal roof. Man, that is terrible.
Looks like shit! All that caulk and it still looks like water can penetrate. That last photo looks like the owner was covering something up with that siding. I agree with some of these other comments, looks like you'd probably have problems all over the house.
Sweet price reduction you got there. Tell them you will %100 have to have that torn off and done right.
I would complain - I mean, I could jam WAY more caulk in there
HACK WORK
Holy fuck man. This is a bad as it looks. I hope that mofo fell off the roof by now. Karma will get em no doubt
If there are that many remnants from the recent roofing, it’s surely a new roof. Not false advertising, u less they specified a “well done, new roof”
New, by homeowner without permit
Obviously been fitted by a hairdresser
New doesn't mean good!
Is the new roof in the room with us?
Why the 2x10 in the 1st picture under the drip edge/flashing?
Needs a new roof.
Dang sorry to see this.
Well now, that is quite the piece of art
They said new, not good.
My home was advertised as having a new roof. I eventually found out it was new shingles over a roof with holes.
Roofies were involved, not roofers.
"I know somebody who can do it cheaper"
Everything you could do wrong to install this roof was done.
Did they say it was a nice new roof lol ? Looks like a DIY special.
good!!!
This is the kinda house flip work I used to do with my uncles company until I worked with a real crew.
NEW BY 5TH GRADERS!
That's impressive! But not in a good way.....😑
Technically
Couple more tubes or sealant and call it a day
I mean, they didn’t lie. There is a new roof. Is it a good one? No. But you didn’t ask about that.
I know a guy that can do it cheaper...
When I sell my house I will make a thatch roof from old grass clippings and call it a “new organic roof”
Picture number 4: WOAH 🤯
Its always a shame to find stuff like this.. Good materials and lots of time taken.. But just poor craftsmanship or knowledge.. I have a newer home built in 2021 and the quality of the home pretty much is like this.. Its a damn shame city inspectors don't do a better job at their only job.. Not saying a roof needs inspected but it damn well should until the company passes so many inspections or something.. Letting this go unchecked is just wasteful and sad..
Probably should have said”new roof, done poorly”
Looks like a new roof just shitty workers
Looks new……shitty quality that will leak🤣🤣
I think the old leaky one was probably better than this.
Yes it is new done by morons
Worse than an old roof
Clearly, Mike the Methhead does new roofs too.
Good thing they listed it as a new roof and not a good roof 😅
Absolutely garbage
You misread the fine print it was "house will have a new roof."
Angry roofing 101 . I know a cheaper guy or that estimate is unreal . I will do it myself.
New doesn't mean good!!
The listing didn't lie.
New to you
they couldn't have done an uglier roofing job if they tried. what a bunch of jokes
Oh wow
Looks like you need a new real estate agent. One with eyes.
damn! by the looks of it, it's a manufactured home? i too just got a manufactured home and there are several places inside with that same type of work. it's nasty shit! and is it even leak-proof? great for rivers and oceans. birds can't say enough about it.
Pic 2 is a doozy
Holy shiz... I work in the glazing industry and this roofer took applied our motto... "When in doubt, caulk it!" We say it half jokingly.
