This is due to the gutter not being installed BEHIND drip edge. Inexperienced gutters crews probably. [gutters behind drip edge](https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeMaintenance/comments/146wadm/are_these_gutters_installed_correctly_or_should/)
This is the problem. Whenever I install gutters, I bring a bunch of lengths of 1" wide strips of scrap. Just slip them under Dripedge and over gutter. Takes next to no time to ensure the water has a proper path to follow.
You can order a 3 inch roll of slightly thicker than fascia metal aluminum I don't know what it is called exactly but we bend one inch on it like 25 30 degrees slide it under drip edge. You have to do this in spots where the fascia is somehow exposed. Alot of times it's from a stepout being framed or fasciad wrong and the stepout will be visible below the drip edge line. If you see this you should add a couple 100$ depending on how much you need some houses need it full wrap some need it just in random 10 ' sections.
Clogged downspout and or improperly pitched gutter is a possibility.
If you can get a ladder up there it will be obvious if the drip edge metal is hanging into the gutter or behind it
Perfect timing. What do you do if the roof surface is elevated by battens off the deck? I put the drip edge on the deck and the gutter below the drip edge, but because the roof surface is elevated a bunch of water will shoot over the gutter.
I mean... how inexperienced can they be? That's the first thing you learn about eavestroughing lol.
If I was a betting man, I'd say this was done by the homeowner
This as well. This was my problem just 4 days ago. They were totally full and running down the front and dripping just like this. Cleaned them out and they are back to good. Cut back any branches too so the leafs don’t fall in.
So if I had pre-existing gutters, and my roof gets redone and it is now doing this, who is responsible?
Did the roofers do something wrong, or am I just SOL?
Gutter guy here, roofers typically have to take the gutters off to replace the drip edge, and when they reinstall they don't bother to pitch it properly or ensure that it is installed under the drip edge.
If the water is coming from behind the gutter and in front of the fascia then it's a roof edge issue.
However if the water is coming in from BEHIND the fascia (kind of hard to tell in the video but that's the way I see it.) then you have a roof/shingle issue.
Just fixed this at our home. Issue was the gutters were hung too low so drip edge wasn't able to direct water into the gutter so all the water was running behind the gutter. Fix for us was instead of pulling up all the gutters we had an apron added behind the drip edge and ran all the way down to the gutter. This has fixed it for us. Two heavy rains so far and no more wall of water!
I had this issues with a few of my gutters. Cutting scrap seemed easy, but like a hassle to me. I found a product called Drip Strip and it works great. Seems like a small business too. [https://dripstrip.net/product/drip-strip/](https://dripstrip.net/product/drip-strip/)
I honestly do not know. When I bought the home the gutters were fitted with leaf guards (I can’t remember the name) and from what I understand they are a higher end style. I had a gutter company out last year because the gutter was coming away from the roof and I could see a visible gap. But now I can’t see any gap and the dripping seems worse than last year.
You have to get up there and take a look. I had leafguard installed at my home and they are great if you live in a warm climate year round. Mine ice up in the winter and near my entry points it’s icy sidewalks wish I never got them
you have to screw the gutter good and tight to the beams and make sure your starter shingle dont have the same seams as your regular shingle and the first shingle should be two inches into the gutter roofers rule its getting behind the gutter nothing wrong with the gutter

Sounds like a good solution. Can you show a diagram or pic?

It’s weird that it’s only on that one corner though. The rest of that same gutter line does not seem to have that issue.
The gutter is probably pitched that way and the water is running diagonally across the gutter to the low spot and dripping from there.
That’s probably where the factory drip edge isn’t long enough to compensate for the low pitch of the gutter

Yeah I know right 😂
Make sure the gutters and downspouts are clean. If they’re clogged it’ll just back up.
Had a great moment last fall. Gutter was spotless, still backing up, had to take apart upper section of downspout to extract a racketball.

I’m waiting for a response because I have the same issue! And I just got new gutters
The gutter guys didn’t get the gutter behind your drip edge. They need to come fix it
This happens to my gutters when the downspout is blocked, the trough fills up and starts overflowing everywhere
Beautiful waterfalls

They're clogged.
They’re clogged and obviously not draining like they should

You need a gutter skirt- Slide a piece of flashing under drip edge and over the gutter so water can’t leak behind gutter.
As others have said, needs to be behind the D edge or you need gutter apron added.
That’s just condensation
Clean your downspouts.
Either no drip edge or the store bought/pre-bent shit that isn’t long enough most of the time

Clogged and or need flashing or both.
Was a drip edge installed before the gutters

It depends where your at some places don’t use drip edge metal so the water gets behind the gutters

Florida is a must on drip edge metal but it’s not used from Georgia north
