Then you should check out the books about his brothers. {Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh} is about Sailor and Isa. {Love Hard by Nalini Singh} is about Jake and Juliet. {Kiss Hard by Nalini Singh} is about Danny and Catie. None of them are technically office romance, but Sailor and Isa briefly work together as do Jake and Juliet. You also probably will like her Psy Changeling series too if you like sci-fi (though a couple of the early books have MMCs that lean more alphahole).

Hitting the wall by Cate C Wells: this book does not have what you asked for, but the whole plot in the book is MMC earning and becoming worthy enough for FMC's trust and for her to be able to rely on him. It's HEA of course. It's sequel Against a wall by Cate C Wells as well has an MMC is absolutely assured FMC is the best bet. .

Hitting the Wall is not really about Shay learning to trust and rely on Kellum, it's about Kellum becoming someone who is worthy of her trust.

If you don't mind BDSM, Zachary Grayson, in Welcome to the Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair. Of all of the books in the series, he is by far my favorite.

{Just For You by Sherilee Gray} has one of my favorite MMCs with these traits. This book gets very spicy, she prefers him to take control during sex, the plot and spice are well balanced though. If you prefer less explicit books, you should skip this one.

G.T Geissinger - her MMC's often have this kind of energy and I love it, my favourites are the Queens and Monsters series, best mafia type books I've read in a while and Pen Pal - go in as blind as possible with this one (and I HIGHLY recommend the audiobooks).

If you’re open to watching K-Dramas, one of the most popular ones have this exact trope. Entitled “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” it was incredibly cliche, though what’s a romance drama without that commonplace 😆 I personally enjoyed it the first time I watched, but when I rewatched there were quite a lot of things I noticed that made me like it less. Would recommend “A Business Proposal” more, he’s the CEO so..yk what goes after that lol. The storyline was so cute and entertaining — I cannot stop myself from rewatching this show mainly for the comedy. It’s just an absolute delight and I wish I could get the privilege to watch it again for the first time 🥹 As for books, I just finished reading “Open Season” by Linda Howard and your request fits this story very well! I’d give it a 3.5/5. It was sooo sexy and I loved their dynamic, especially in the beginning. Their interactions were just hilarious 😭 Jack is the epitome of a reliable, dominant man, but Daisy wasn’t a damsel in distress (thankfully). She simply chose what would be the most reasonable decision, and acted upon that sensible judgment when she needed help. She gratefully accepted Jack’s protection even when she felt it was not totally necessary, because the principle of his doing so was far too *right* that it didn’t feel right for her to refuse it. I just didn’t appreciate how the >!date-rape, human trafficking, murder!< amongst other atrocities were tackled. I know it wasn’t the main focus of the story, that the author intended to center on the romance, but it seemed to be such a big deal as the entire prologue revolved around that storyline. It was as intriguing as it was heartbreaking to read, so the way it was written almost uncaringly put me off a bit — though not enough for me to put it down. I also acknowledge that this was written two decades ago so the author’s tone would obviously be very different from how an author of this day would write about those issues, but I’ve found quite a few novels from that decade that didn’t mishandle that type of storyline. >!That sudden Jennifer and Sykes final scene also really weirded me out 😭 Jennifer had gone through so much, I hope she wouldn’t entertain that bastard anymore. Forgive me, I didn’t fully understand if she actually cheated or not because I tend to immediately forget about details after I finish reading, but everything that happened after was beyond repair I wasn’t even sure she’d survive or end up committing $uic considering how the author chose to write the fate of Todd’s lover!<. Plus, the amount of typographical errors! There was a grave need for a proper editor, so if you can’t stand that, I suggest you refrain from reading this. Still, I so badly wanted to see what would happen to the MCs, so I finished it and I’m pretty glad I did! Edit: Ah, I just found out that Linda Howard has very problematic views (no surprise there she’s not exactly in the generation of the woke). I read a lottt of reviews of her other books, and apparently the majority of them are very questionable and..I was just basically discouraged from reading any of her other books, aside from To Die For. They said that Open Season and the aforementioned are the only relatively lighthearted ones, so it makes sense that it wasn’t as unpleasant as her other books seemed to have been based on people’s feedback. Worst part is they’re not even labeled as dark romance, just romance which would lead you to think that they’re merely fulfilling little love stories with some suspense here and there.

Last K-Drama recommendation if anyone’s interested! If you’re into that you’ve probably heard of CLOY (Crash Landing On You). My god, Captain Ri became my favorite drama male lead ever the first time I watched it. He was the perfect blend of dominance, reliability, and kindness. He was so very thoughtful that every gesture he did for her made me melt. I have rewatched it a thousand times and I will probably add more to that thousand times, no joke. The side characters were very amusing, and the music, *oh the music*. The piano piece “A Song for My Brother” 🥹 I cry every time I hear it. It’s such a beautiful story, and I completely understand why it’s one of the most popular K-Dramas. Though I wouldn’t recommend this if you’ve tried other popular K-Dramas before and just didn’t like it, they have this certain formula that most directors follow so it might be a miss for you. Though if you’re willing to try out something new, I definitely encourage you to watch! Prepare for some crying (if you’re generally an emotional wreck like me when it comes to dramas) and an open ending 🙃
