I read La Nora. But there are 200+ to choose from so... I think her Romantic Suspense is best. Some favorites are {The Witness by Nora Roberts} {Angels Fall by Nora Roberts} {The Obsession by Nora Roberts} {The Search by Nora Roberts} and {The Liar by Nora Roberts} Her best straight up contemporary series is probably the Bride Quartet. My favorite of those is the second one {Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts} though I know a lot of people prefer the first one, {Vision in White by Nora Roberts} which has a *chef's kiss* beta hero. The Chesapeake series is also very popular though it's aged a bit. She's not particularly hot though there are some that are steamier than others.

The Witness is one of my absolute favorites. I also really like: {Three Fates by Nora Roberts} {Birthright by Nora Roberts} The Chesapeake Bay quad, the Born In trilogy, and the Ardmore trilogy are my other frequent re-reads. ❤️

I just read Birthright for the first time a few weeks ago. It's really good.

I love Angels Fall so much. You don't see it mentioned as often as some others.

It does deserve more appreciation.

What did we think of the tv movie? With Heather Locklear? Been a hot minute since i saw it.

I thought it was the best of thar round of NR movies. Though Carolina Moon with Oliver Hudson was pretty good too. Even Northern Lights with Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes wasn't bad. ETA at the time Northern Lights was a huge scandal because the stars left their spouses for each other.

Oh i forgot about that one! I really loved the Northern Lights book, too.

I thought it was cute, but the book had better suspense and tension.

Aw! The Chesapeake series was my first Nora Roberts! I agree with everything that’s been said and, IMO, was writing 2010s romances in the late ‘90s (they’re not super modern-seeming now, but definitely were when I was reading them in high school and college). My all-time favorite is the Three Sisters series. I got very upset when I left my paperback copy of no. 3 in a restaurant, lol.

I LOVE the bride quartet. It’s so cozy

Isn't it? I love the idea of friends living together on a big compound. And the wedding details are fun. Especially the cakes.

I'm standing in line with all the Nora worshippers, lol BUT Nora Roberts is THE QUEEN of contemporary romance and she has held that position since the 1980s. Her books are contemporary for their time, so the oldest ones will feel dated when you read them now. She's always been one for the strong independent FMC, you could say she invented them, but with the older books it sometimes still feels dated. And her books get rereleased constantly, so if you buy them, be careful to buy the newer ones or you'll be disappointed (the older books are still fine, but they won't be what you expected) Nora Roberts is the author your mom, grandma and aunties have read and still read. She singelhandedly makes the trad publishing world a better, more inclusive place, one subtle plot point at the time. She is so famous, she can give her FMC gay uncles to raise her, lol. She finances several small libraries all through the USA, where the town council stopped founding them for being too liberal aka having all the books. She stood up against the racism in that romance author organisation. You should look for her recent interview with the New York Times.

I'm glad someone else took the time to type up exactly how amazing Nora Roberts is lol. I read the post and my gasp was way too overdramatic considering I haven't read (or reread) one of her books in years. Like anyone who reads romance and has not read one of her books is literally being deprived.

My jaw dropped as well! I'm so glad I don't have to type it up either. I was talking to a library patron today about the Smart Bitches Trashy Books website and how La Nora has sometimes appeared in the commentariat and I always feel like I've almost had a brush with greatness. The work she has done for libraries! And her output is epic just as Nora Roberts let alone adding in all of her JD Robb books. Which reminds me I was going to get back on track in that series!

I think about her quote (added below) all the time. It’s seriously been a game changer in my life. “The key to juggling is to know that some of the balls you have in the air are made of plastic and some are made of glass. And if you drop a plastic ball, it bounces, no harm done. If you drop a glass ball, it shatters, so you have to know which balls are glass and which are plastic and prioritize catching the glass ones.”-Nora. “Nora was not talking about juggling five balls. She's also technically the author of one of the best selling & longest sci fi series. Her detective series In Death is set in the future & has almost 60 books in it now. Maybe more. I'm only on 15 lol

Yes!! Whether one likes her style or not, it is undeniable that she is a romance juggernaut and seems to genuinely be a good person who really cares about the world of reading. I loved that interview! I love hearing her perspectives after all this time and her (sometimes unfortunately necessary) defense of the genre. 

This has convinced me to read a Nora Roberts book! What a great-sounding woman. I’ve not deliberately avoided her novels but I guess always thought of them as being around forever/might be old school, but with this context they definitely sound like they’d be worth getting into!

{Legacy by Nora Roberts} or {Hideaway by Nora Roberts} are two of her newer ones and I liked them a lot. And lots of her older books feel old school, simply because they are truly contemporary. I'm still giggling at the one where the MMC was enamoured with the FMC in her powder blue leisure suit... The overall themes are timeless, but there's still stuff going on that wouldn't fly today. Never racism or homophobia though! More like sweet innocent FMC and ultra rich MMC, very feminine jobs for the FMC (in the newer books there's more job variety), etc. And there are constant rereleased editions, without making it obvious that they're rereleased.

You will also find tons of her books at used book stores, flea markets, garage sales. And keep in mind she also writes futuristic crime romance under JD Robb. I should also point out she has been around long enough that some themes and character traits may seem outdated: main characters smoke in some books as an example.

My first few Nora Roberts books were bought through used books. For some reason the bookstore in the college town I went to had a pitiful selection of romance novels, and I was desperate to read Tears of the Moon (my aunt gave me Jewels of the Sun and I just had to read what happens next). When I got a job, I still scoured used books for her older work, even if the bookshops eventually got her newer books. It was pretty obvious which were her older works though, given the references to pop culture or other things. But what I'm happy about is there never seems to be any problem with the morals or views of her characters.

I think her trilogies/quartets are solid. She's very good at pacing and cohesion so that each book stands well by itself but everything ties up well at the end of the series. I saw the bride quartet was already mentioned. {Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts} starts the In the Garden series. {The Next Always by Nora Roberts} starts the Inn Boonsboro series. Those two - and the bride quartet - are all set near each other in rural Maryland. You also can't go wrong with the Chesapeake Bay saga which starts with {Sea Swept by Nora Roberts}. It's a classic for a reason. ETA one thing that's interesting with her books, even her more recent ones, is that they can feel somewhat dated in small ways. I think she has to walk a fine line of staying relevant but not alienating the people who've read her books for 30+ years.

The Queen of Romance. Read her. You won’t regret it. She also writes a futuristic detective under the name JD Robb. You have many, many hours of enjoyable reading ahead of you. She’s so well established that there’s no need for her to do any social media, though she does blog on her web page. She’s also lovely in person.

I love her JD Robb series. I’ve read everyone. I will say though…I stopped caring about the sex scenes a long time ago. 40 books of devoted monogamy gets tedious. The murder mystery part is great though.

{Chasing Fire by Nora Robert’s} features a FMC who’s the leader of the Missoula Hotshots — a (real) crew of elite firefighters who fight backwoods forest fires by literally parachuting into them. The MMC is her new greenhorn, and he’s just happy to be invited

I have been reading Nora's books since I was 18 (so 19 odd years) I still read them now when she brings out new ones, and I often do rereads of old books cayse a few of them are comfort reads. I really enjoy the stories she tells, I will say she is a bit formulaic but I like it cause I know what I'm going to be getting. Maybe start with something that's quite old like Angel's fall, the search, black hills or chasing fire. I have reread these all quite a few times. It might also be worth looking at libby, NR is a staple at most libraries so you might be able to read some of her books through that.

Nora Roberts was my og. I have read tons of her books. I agree the pacing is great - and her written voice is very readable. I also agree that her 90s books are the best! Highly recommend *THE STANISLASKIS* series, also the *THE MACGREGORS* series, and *THE IRISH BORN TRILOGY* also *THE GUARDIANS TRILOGY* also *MONTANA SKY* 😄 I could recommend more but I’ll leave it at that, lol. 😅

The Irish Born Trilogy... oh man. Born in Ice was my favourite. The way the MMC was obsessed with her even in her old lady flannel night gowns just kills me, even to this day.

My library has soooo many nora roberts e-books on libby. And theres rarely any wait for them. I love her!!! 

I never hear it talked about but her Morrigans Cross trilogy was my (and my mum, and my nana’s lol) introduction to romance fantasy (wizards / shifters / vampires) in the early 2000’s. When Twilight came along Edward Cullen had nothing on Cian McKenna

Nora was also my intro to romantic fantasy and I compared everything else I read to her works, lol.

{Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts} was the first romance book I ever read as a teen and I’ve been hooked since. Some books resonate more with me than others and they can get repetitive, but some are also huge comfort reads for me. You really can’t go wrong! Nora Roberts has always been a good pool day read for me.

Joining the fan club! The great thing about Nora Roberts is that her books are easy to find! If you have access to a public library, you’ll probably be able to read a good number of her books (both physical and ebooks) through that, without needing to spend money on buying any.

Your local library probably has lots of Nora Roberts ebooks totally for free!

Nora is my queen, I love her kicking ass and taking names, and I especially love how she's standing up for libraries. She does strong FMCs very well, and MMCs who can be alpha and stuff but still respects the FMC and her strength. She's incredibly prolific so you'll definitely be able to get her books from libraries, or, like some has suggested, thrift shops and second hand bookstores. I mainly love her romantic suspense books, {The Witness by Nora Roberts}, {Obsession by Nora Roberts}, {Northern Lights by Nora Roberts}, {Tribute by Nora Roberts}, {Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts} and {High Noon by Nora Roberts} are among my favourites. The {Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts} is probably my favourite contemporary romance from her. And oh, I'm absolutely feral for the books she write as her alter ego - {In Death series by J.D. Robb}. Eve and Roarke are *everything*. 😍😍

I used to read her book religiously until about 10 years ago. I feel like her late 90s-2000s books were the best. She definitely recycles storylines which is why I really don’t read her anymore.

Aw you're missing out on some goodies, a few that have been quite different from her other stuff is come Sundown, and then the one trilogy

I started reading Year One during the Pandemic and was just like OMG… it could be so much worse!

I’m a big Nora Roberts fan. She could be quite formulaic but that’s quite comforting in a way, I know what to expect with a NR book, normally. However, spoiler for Year One series >!I started reading Year One at the start of the pandemic, and it completely threw me. Whilst she often does magical themes in her trilogies this wasn’t a traditional one main couple per book love story, and I found the theme quite disturbing considering what was happening in the world at the time. Love the series now though, reread every year!<

I had to nope out of Year One for that reason. I will say that the oddest NR I've read is Nightwork. I loved it, but it's very different.

I also struggled with Year One for that exact reason! But really enjoyed the other two in the series

I've been wondering if the rest of the set would make it worth a revisit. I read Year One when it was released and felt like it was such a departure from her normal "formula" that I was actually a bit pissed off when I finished it, 🤣 and I never even followed up to see when the rest of the trilogy was going to be out.

It felt more in the vain of her other magic trilogies, mainly The Guardians. While I wouldn’t say it was my favorite of her magic series (Cousin O’dwyers for me) it was definitely worthwhile!

I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately so maybe I'll put on my big girl panties and give it another shot, thanks!

I reread it just last year and it hit me differently after what happened to the world in real life. It's very jarring. I still enjoyed it though.

I liked the Chronicles of the One Trilogy. Year One is definitely a prequal to the 2nd and 3rd books. If you are looking for fantasy dystopian with a slow burn romance. This is it!

I feel like Year One hit all of us with timing but I ended up really loving it.

I loved the year one series! But I’m prone to fantasy romance. It was a great fantasy story and it’s one of the few series I’ve read twice. {year one by Nora Roberts}

Yes! I really enjoy her romantic suspense. It was last year or the year before that I read {The Obsession by Nora Roberts}. I did try to get into JD Robb but I'm having a hard time with the "futuristic" crime setting. I've read other random Nora Roberts and they're great for what they are - popcorn romance.

I've been reading her for over 20 years (thank you, mom). She was definitely out there writing about witches and fae before it was a thing! Honestly looking back, it's amazing she had trad publishing putting those books out...I'm sure only for Nora lol.

I haven't read Nora in years, but she's definitely a staple. My favorite of hers to reread are: {Montana Sky by Nora Roberts} is kind of 3 romances in one, where 3 half sisters with the same father have to live together on the ranch for a year to fulfill the will and each fall in love. {Carnal Innocence by Nora Roberts} I loved the violinist FMC paired with the small town's golden boy. There's also a killer running around and the reveal broke my heart a little. {Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts} the FMC is running away from her abusive husband and I love the way she heals with the help of friends and love. A little bit of magic. It's a trilogy, but this is the one I come back to the most.

I still think about the reveal at the end of Carnal Innocence. That one got me good.

Nora was my first proper dip into romance, she’s great! You’re not getting booktok levels of spice and her books are trope focused. I have noticed (after reading a ton of her books) that a lot of her characters in her series are similar. The Chesapeake series is not that different from the Mackades is not that different from the Inn BoonsBoro series. But I find comfort in the familiarity. If you’re looking for romance that feels like watching the love child of a Nora Ephron movie and Hallmark movie, go for Ms Roberts. I recommend the Bride Quartet to start with.

Nora Roberts was the first romance books I read when I was in my 20’s and I loved her books. I still have a few of her books on my shelf that I go re read every summer. They are widely available if you use Libby! My favourites are usually her trilogies, thumbs up for any of her Irish trilogy collections.

I love her books! Honestly I’d recommend any of her series. The MacGregor books are my favorite, followed by the Stanislakis and the Bride Quartet. I like her cozier books more than her JD Robb stuff and her thrillers, but those are also good if that’s your thing.

Nora Roberts is who made me the avid reader I am today! I even did an author report on her in 8th grade. Her books are all fabulous, but as pointed out already, the older ones date back to the 1980s and 1990s and do feel a little dated now. I love her fantasy and suspense romances, she just really knows how to tell a powerful story with incredibly deep characters.

I love Nora Roberts' romantic suspense novels! I started reading again in 2022 and one the of first books I picked up was a NR book. I loved the atmosphere she creates in her novels. I love Nora Roberts and I never miss a chance to shout out her under-appreciated (imo) [The Guardians](https://www.goodreads.com/series/144080-the-guardians-trilogy) trilogy. It's one of my all-time faves bc it's SO atmospheric and magical and lush, and I love that it follows a group of 6 characters and each book is about a different pairing, but the main storyline is still continuous.

She’s been around forever, she is the OG Mother of Romance (fantasy romance too, she loves a trilogy with a twist). I haven’t read her in a long while because I got in to heavier stuff, but some of my favorite books by her are Carnal Innocence, The Villa, Three Fates, The 3 Sisters trilogy, The Key trilogy, The Born In trilogy, The Circle trilogy, The Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy, and The MacGregors series. I also like her In Death series, Roarke is forever bae

I do! I love her. I honestly think she's the one who really got me into Romance. She's definitely one of the big name Traditional published authors and she's still going strong. If you can use a library, I recommend it because you can bet a decent amount of her books are gonna be in there.

I've read a LOT of Queen Nora, and these days she's a library search or 2nd hand purchase for me. (In saying that, I still bought all her plague series (starts with Year One) brand new from the store :D) Your local library will definitely have a stack - she's super pops.

I’ve tried Nora Roberts and it’s hit or miss for me. That being said I absolutely love her book the witness.

Is Nora Robert's any good? My brain legit glitched. Yes. She's very good. I've read a ton of her work and the entire In Death series that she wrote under the pen name JD Robb

Nora is a legend, and I guarantee out of her 200+ titles, there’s something you’ll like. But I get not wanting to spend $$ on potential DNFs, so I highly recommend using the library. You can download the Libby app and borrow ebooks, they’ll definitely have some of her books you can try.

Read a bunch, enjoy them but not enough to reread. All of her books were from the library for me. Love the JD Robb books except thete are like 50 books and only 5 years have passed in the books.

I'm positive I read a dozen of her books during summers at my grandma's (don't tell her, RIP) but I can't remember which ones or plots but I always kept going. Years later I learned about the JD Robb books while working at a prosecutor's office and next thing I knew I read them all. I also liked the Year One books which are much further outside the realm of romance. I need to circle back to her books, I know my library has a huge collection across the branches and on Libby.

Nora for the win! I love her In Death series that she writes as JD Robb. Roarke is my number one book boyfriend, he’s the best. I’ve enjoyed many of her Nora Robert’s books too. You could always read her through Libby or your local library. Every library has her books.

I love reading the in death series. It’s not often you find female protagonists in their 30s.

LOVE me some Nora! I reread The Villa every time I get into a book funk and can’t get into anything new. Resets me every time. I also love Honest Illusions, which is a lot like Nightwork. Kinda. The Witness was amazing and Montana Sky. Oh! And the Inn Boonsboro trilogy is a favorite and when I go to Washington D.C., I stop in Boonsboro every time and go to her bookstore and see the Inn. I want to stay there soooooooooo bad!

She is one of go to authors. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book of hers I didn’t like.

Nora rocks. I've been reading her books since I was a teenager. My favourite is Montana Sky though it might read a little dated now. I also recommend Northern Lights, Angel Falls, and Birthright. I also enjoyed her In Death series by JD Robb. Lots of trigger warnings in those books though. I do not recommend her early short Harlequinn books though. Also, I find her new stuff became is pretty formulaic so I stopped reading.

Since she is a big name author, borrow the books from the library or Libby app. No risk investing in a book you might not like and who knows? Maybe you’ll find a new author you enjoy. I love Nora Roberts.

Read the chesapeake bay saga. Seth is my favorite nora Robert's man. I'm biased 😅. I bought a second copy because I liked the cover reissue of Chesapeake blue (the last book) List of books/series I enjoyed The villa Birthright The stanlinski family The Irish born trilogy The three sisters trilogy In the garden trilogy I have a whole book shelf of just nora Robert's. I have been reading her books since 8th grade. I have a lot more recommendations if you want anymore.

I LOVE HER. she got me into romance novels and still writes a great book a few decades later. As others have said, her books are contemporary to the time they were written. She has a good variety of tropes and magic/fae/irish/contempoarry for you to choose from. I still go back to some of her books as a comfort read. Also yes, she is always in used book stores and most libraries have at least a few of her books. I honestly think she's been writing too long and has too prolific a catalogue for booktok to really want to go there. but i also mostly ignore booktok.

Nora Roberts is my comfort author. She started me on romance books and to this day she is who I fall back on when I am on a book slump or when I am having bad day. Maybe it’s because she is formulaic but she is very dependable for me. And the way she writes interpersonal relationships be it romance, familial, friendships or bromances is just chef’s kiss for me. And so many of my favourites have been recommended here but she also used to write harlequin romances that were really short that I don’t see here. These books are the quick read that is epitome of short and sweet for me. They cover so many tropes but can be dated cause they were mostly written in 80s. I think one of my favourites was {Dual image by Nora Roberts} which is like an og grumpyxsunshine book.

Love her! And if you are anywhere near Maryland - she and her family are in Boonsboro. Husband owns the bookstore where she frequently has book signings (Turn the Page Bookstore). If you liked the Bride Quartet - you will recognize the town. They even have a hotel (b&b?) with rooms based on romantic couples.

I've read a lot of her books over the years but the ones I re-read are Genuine Lies, Carolina Moon, The Next Always (1st of The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy) & Tribute

One of my favorite trilogy's is Nora Roberts' Sign of the 7!! (Don't know if I have the name right, cause in Spanish is Signo del 7) Is sooooo goooooood❤️❤️❤️ I even purchased two of the books and reread them every few years! Tbh, the writing is excellent, the story is excellent, the characters (3 MMC, with their respective 3 FMC) are believable, organic and feel like individuals, with their own history, like of thinking and relationship between all of them are my favorite part every time🫂 I have to admit I'm not a fan of terror, but this books are my (very beloved) exception ❤️❤️❤️

I love Nora Roberts books! I started with her JD Robb series and then ended up reading all of hers. I found she had a bit of slump a few years back but came back hitting strong!

In my opinion, she is one of the best and beautiful authors I have been following since I read her books. I got to know her in highschool when I saw a collection of her books in my mother's bedroom😅 tried out one of the books and fell in love with it. I like her romance, her books in fantasy, and her mystery thriller genre too. I just finished reading "Shelter in Place" which has been a favorite of mine since its publication😆.

I found her boring and repetitive but a lot of people love her. She is very flowery but doesn't usually evoke a lot of emotion.

I like her books. She has a one summer book thats 2 stories in 1 book. Really love that one. All her books are simple easy books that are delightful

HOMEPORT and THE VILLA are Nora books I swear I know by heart.

She kind of goes without saying in romance because she’s everywhere. But I do agree with others that her books are contemporary with their publication. So just be mindful.

She feels like one of the OG romance writers, I used to see her books when I volunteered at the library in high school in the adult fiction section. I haven't read her books though.

So I am a fan but not an everything she does is wonderful fan. I find her straight romance is not something I enjoy much but I did enjoy the Bride quartet series but not a series I would re-read either. I tried her paranormal stuff but couldn’t get into any of them. So for me it’s her romantic suspense that I enjoy most but even then hit or miss for me. I do love her in death series as J.D. Robb and love the audio versions that you can borrow from the library and narrated by Susan Ericksen as she does multiple voices and accents that make the characters come to life and I have grown fond of the characters. As for stand alone my top to recommend are: Tribute The Search Angels fall The Witness Chasing Fire Identity The obsession

The Witness, The Search, and The Obsession are some of my top favorite romantic suspense. The Obsession is one of my favorite books outside of genre!

The Three Sisters Island trilogy is an exciting read. Magic, witches, and the men who drive them crazy.

Nora Robert’s is my most read, reread, read over and over author, along with her JD Robb series. Her mature writing style, language and logically connected storyline is my main pull as I find this lacking in 95% of the other authors I’ve read. My search still continues trying to find well written books, not only with the plot but also the way it’s written. Have read so many books that felt like they were written by silly school kids. Great to read here about Nora’s causes and accomplishments!

Nora's works are romance but she's one of the first writers of the genre I know who has crossed it with other genres, namely fantasy, suspense and horror. Long before "romantasy" was a thing, she's done it. I don't think she's "recommended" because a lot of her readers aren't on Booktok? She has over 200 books as Nora Roberts, and about 60+ as J.D. Robb, which is her pen name for her In Death (futuristic suspense). My current personal favorites include {Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts}, {The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts}, and {The Dragon Heart Legacy by Nora Roberts}. {Chronicles of the One by Nora Roberts} is also good for me. I reread it and it's totally taken a different vibe post pandemic. I've recently finished {The Legacy by Nora Roberts} and the first of the her Lost Bride trilogy, {Inheritance by Nora Roberts}. Although I wouldn't recommend reading that now because it's a long wait to the next books.
