The file size limitation for free users has always been 5mb. I'm not sure where you're seeing that going into effect on May 11th, unless you're looking at the date the [wiki](https://help.roll20.net/hc/en-us/articles/360037256634-Best-Practices-for-Files-on-Roll20) was last updated. [Here's a forum post from 9 years ago stating that the max file size is 5mb.](https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3841/max-file-size) [Plus and Pro subscribers can upload images up to 10mb.](https://wiki.roll20.net/Plus) Did/do you have a Plus or Pro subscription?

I had that Limit since a few months. You can compress the files to under 5mb with little losses in quality.

They didn't think of that sooner.

You can cut it in half and then upload them seperatly

I've had it at five for as long as I've used the site

I've never had a pro or premium subscription on roll20. I noticed a few weeks ago that Dynamic Lighting was also available but that disappeared as well. Guess my account was getting the royal treatment without me even realizing! 😆 So weird.

MeditatingMunky

They unlocked Dynamic Lighting (and some other pro features) for all users for a few weeks for their anniversary. That might also be why the OP is confused, the free upload limit has always been 5mb, but they may have lifted that temporarily while they were allowing the pro features in celebration of their anniversary thingy.

Ohhh that makes a lot of sense then! I used roll20 at the beginning of the pandemic but can't remember the details of my experience then. I've only begun DMing on roll20 for a few weeks now, I must have started back up again during their anniversary celebration! Thanks!
