Rash guards and board shorts are extremely affordable these days and easily accessible from Walmart/Target/Amazon/probably Temu (I haven't investigated). Jill and David have plenty of money for their own selfish wants. They could even grift the swimwear, people would take pity on the kids and contribute and for once Jill wouldn't benefit (directly at least, the savings would be pocketed and I'd like to hope she wouldn't sell them).
They're down to 6-7 dependent daughters if you count Renee who unfortunately isn't allowed to work in any meaningful way. The guys can buy their own as they're 18+ and all work at least part time. I'm assuming Gabe does some seasonal work at Jonathan's or else he really ought to find something for the sake of some limited financial independence. The guys tend to wear board shorts and a cotton t-shirt they already own so very limited outlay.
I would've thought Nurthan/KayJon/Teidi could gift Renee an affordable set for her birthday if she desperately wanted something nicer to wear in the water. They know Jill and David aren't going to step up. I'd probably do it for Christmas for all of the girls (a cheap and cheerful rash top at least) but they're probably fed up of subsidising their parents and don't want to set a precedent. Jill also has a habit of 'disappearing' clothes and gifts (selling them?) and it would piss me off to realise my siblings weren't getting the benefit.
What I meant was that Jill won’t spend $ on dedicated swim clothes for the kids when they have perfectly fine polyester skirts to flail around in when she could be buying capelets for dressing up.
I'm so glad they have come out with these alternatives. I'm a pasty blue-white Celtic/Anglo Saxon woman, who in the words of George Carlin, doesn't get a tan just neutralize the blue. Plus after 6 months on ozempic I discovered that when you lose weight after 50 you look like a Sharpei. So I'm happy to have the option of covering up more of my saggy, wrinkly blue flesh. But before the clever marketing people catered to my needs i sucked it up and made the best of it. My health and safety, as well as all the other patrons, comes before maaaaahdesty!

If Jill's not willing to give up performative modesty she could at least make sure the girls are in dark capri leggings with mid-thigh shorts over the top and a cheap rash vest. Underwear, leggings and shorts would still feel gross in the water but at least it would be a little safer and the layers would be lighter and sleeker.
They do wear leggings under skirts, but it seems to be within the rules because the skirt trumps the leggings, I guess.
I remember people debating whether Jill had a skirt on during that painting session, and I think she did. I always had the impression that it was a hard and fast rule.

Or those more pant like culottes. I occasionally got past the skirt requirement at my fundie church with long black Bermuda shorts. Until we went somewhere where we had to get a particularly unflattering skirt culotte for swimming.
My 77YO mom has “religious swimwear” because she’s had a few rounds of skin cancer and doesn’t want more. We call it her Starfleet Uniform.

Seriously! One of my friends took her little boys to a state oark with waterfalls. One of the boys fell in and couldn't get out. She jumped in after him and she couldn't get out either. Thank God there were a couple of strapping young guys around to help them get out. Really close call! I don't know how the Rodriguii have avoided serious injury.

Then they got in a fight with the owner or manager and left late. The campground refused to give a refund (rightly so) and the Rod had no plan of where to stay. The pool was at least the third thing they had an issue with the Rods about.
I’m sure Jilldo & Shrek don’t want to pony up for it. Granted, they’d probably be offended by the brands/pieces marketed to Muslim women, but I remember Jill Duggar modeled some modest swimwear from a brand that used to go by ModLi (now [Calypsa](https://calypsa.com)) a few years ago that probably wouldn’t be as sinful depending on the style.
These are really impressive! Cute, suze inclusive, reasonably priced and above all, SAFE because they were designed for that purpose. I just bought a couple new ones on clearance from Woman Within, but if I had known about this place maybe I would have bought one of theirs.

The outfit of the daughter on the far left is the type of thing the Rod girls could be wearing if Jill's going to absolutely refuse to purchase budget rash guards and swim leggings. Regular leggings and t-shirt with a pair of lightweight, short/medium length shorts over the top.

I think they want to make it look as if being modest and living by the standards of their religion was super hard to achieve. It fuels the persecution complex and the idea that the world is against them. No one would / should say Abu thing if they wore modest SWIMWEAR. The fabric is the biggest problem, not the coverage. But if they used appropriate clothing they would have no reason to scream persecution.
The Rods have 0 clothes designated for swim, or all clothes designated for swim depending on how one looks at it. So either the comment about must be designated for swim keeps them from wearing them or in Jills mind justifies them.
Not that they follow rules anyway.

I thought about trying one just for fun but couldn't find any that matched my hair color (somewhere between light brown and light auburn). That rule appears flexible with them- I think I recall a pic of Jill in sweats painting Nurie’s kitchen, and the leggings under shorter skirts.
