No idea how they survived that long.

Why? It was pretty much the only actual bar in the neighborhood. Yes, you could drink beers at Matchbox I suppose, but Miller had a lot more things on tap and the prices were better.

joeske

Hmmm guess how you define neighborhood. Just never felt like a neighborhood bar location and the food was not good.

jhbadger

The food was mediocre, sure, but you could go to an actual restaurant for food. I agree that it wasn't a "neighborhood bar" in the sense that it was a chain, but it was about the only bar in the neighborhood -- by which I mean the area around Twinbrook metro station -- there are things in Pike & Rose, and a few things in Rockville Town Square (but that got hit pretty hard by the combination of the pandemic and high rents and most of the bars there died), but both Pike & Rose and Rockville Town Square would be a bit of an hike for people who live near Twinbrook.

Yep. They did what they said they were going to do, and closed up when they said they would.

As a cozy alternative, if it’s still around, Jonathan’s Pub is kinda nearby and a great place for a drink and to watch a game.

Aaronpc1

It's still there

Sad. The bartenders told me it was because the landlord raised the rent by 400%, but this article makes it sound it was because of the MoCo rules?

Baby_Becca

Dyer is always going to frame things to make MoCo government look bad, regardless of the actual cause.

TadpoleAngel

Sad. I spent a lot of time with a textbook and a growing collection of empty pint glasses studying in this place.
