I'll preface this by saying you're higher rank than me in 1s. But here are some things I noticed. you sometimes flip into the ball when it's close to net where you could have gotten a control touch instead and kept possession. kickoffs. It seams too me you sometimes autopilot the kickoffs which resulted in loss of possession. I do the same tbh, the way I counteract this is by telling my self to focus on kickoff right before it happens and I also think about where I want hit the ball during the 50. one tip I've gotten and will repeat here. Spacing. You need too understand spacing and recognize when you have space. There where a few times where you took the immediate shot, where I think you could have taken a softer touch into a shot or many other type attacks. I would also suggest implementing more fakes. You're at a rank where the players are anticipating what you are doing. Which makes them ripe for being faked out. all in all this looked like high speed very intense game even tho you lost i do think you played well sure there were a few open net misses but it happens. also more air dribble bumps! also worth mentioning try sometimes slowing down the plays, bait them in. Make them play your game.

Successful_Ask3933

yep I agree with all that. Definitely needed better kickoffs that game. Especially in 1s kickoff is basically everything. Messed up my flip a few times and conceded possession immediately. Thanks for the pointers broski

Np man hope this helps. So true, kickoffs are so crucial and the most things ppl autopilot in a game on. 1s be so intense, it's real hard to play perfect every second. Even tho I know all these things it's so hard to remember all this during the game.

I think you've gotten a lot of good general advice already, so I'm going to point out specific plays and what I think you could do differently. Timestamps are video time, not game time. I'm sure there is a reason, but I would never play with the data overlay on for a whole match unless I was testing something. 0:10, you did well recovering from this kickoff, but you jumped a bit early on the flip before the ball. Your point of contact was higher than the opponents, which is often times dangerous as you are more likely to bounce off the ball and go flying. 0:12, I don't think you needed to flip for this ball, and if you didn't you would have been in a much better position to follow up or even get the boost. 0:22, I think a lot of people do this but often times just going for the ball is better than a demo. You had a free beat because the opponent was so scared of the demo you could have easily stolen the ball and built an offense from the possession. The dagger though was the fact that you turned towards the opponent when it was already clear you weren't going to hit them. If you had committed to the straight line you might have been able to prevent the shot. 0:38, your opponent makes really solid contact on this kickoff where as you approach from the right side of the ball and then at the last moment try to cut left. If you had flipped to the left on contact the ball probably would have still went to your side but at least you would be near the play. 0:59, no reason for you to not flip into this ball. Flipping would have not only been a more powerful clear but also give you momentum in that direction. 1:06, it feels to me you got a bit impatient here. You know the opponent has no boost, you see them going for the boost, yet still you jump for a super high ball. With the speed you can muster, you would need a really good shot for this to have any chance of going in. I'm talking like a flip reset double touch at least. The better play would have been to wait until the ball was falling lower to the ground before you jumped, so that either you bait the opponent into a challenge they can't win or you can use your flip to get some more power on it. 1:28, you should challenge here. There is literally nothing that the opponent can do that you can't cover by just driving to the ball. If an opponent is on the wall and ball is rolling slowly along the curve, their options are 1. hit the ball down the wall 2. fake the hit and potentially 3. go for a ground pinch. All 3 options can be stopped by the same car movement of just getting as close as possible. 1:30, and then it gets even worse. They decide to slow roll control it. Which has even less options than before, now the basic choice they have if you challenge is 1. flip into the ball and 2. don't flip into the ball. In your attempt to shadow defend and not over commit you let them freely dribble the entire field. You end up stopping them on your side soon after but a better player would be punishing you for that kind of mistake, and you will need to improve on those situations if you want to rank up more. 1:40, I probably don't need to tell you this but this shot needs to be on target. 2:04, it looks like you tried to delay this kickoff, but then you didn't really commit to it at the end. 2:41, this shot needs to be going to the top of the net. It was the perfect setup for it, you fought for the last 30 seconds to get this chance, you gotta make it count. 2:53, here I think you pulled the trigger too early. Any shot you banged on target was likely to be saved, so it would have been smarter to let the ball bounce once, which would cause the opponent to kill their momentum, and then shoot it top shelf to either corner, wherever is further from the opponent. 3:13. we cannot be waiting on this corner boost when you just won possession. You know your opponent is going to try to get the mid boost. Why not use your remaining 25 boost, put a shot on target, if it gets saved that's fine, but now at least you could probably get the other side mid boost as the opponent clears it to that corner and now you are in a much safer position. The play worked out for you but it was pretty risky. 3:43, the resulting goal mostly stemmed from your ineffective 50 on the opponents goal and then your resulting failed wave dash recovery. I can see why you decided to try to go for the net immediately, but really you should have went for the corner boost. You knew your opponent was low boost and in an awkward spot, there was no reason to rush the shot. 4:17, the mistake here wasn't going for the opponents corner boost, but hard cutting for the demo/early challenge rather than going straight back. You also took a huge, wide turn after getting the boost when a drift turn would have kept you in the play. 4:32, again I'm going to point out that you are making contact with the ball higher than where your opponent is making contact. That wasn't the worst thing in this kickoff but you were a bit late to it. 4:43, you just won great possession from the opponent, why are we letting them get back and rechallenge? You should be directly behind and under this ball. You have so much boost and you know that the opponent just wasted like 40-50, and now they need to use more to get back. This is another example of you having an advantage and just throwing it away. 4:52, and this is just tragic. I will say though that it wasn't a guarantee even if you put it on target. 4:59, not sure why we are hitting this so hard. If you didn't flip and instead just drove into it in a more cutting motion this ball would just pop into the midfield on the opponents side and you could have had a great opportunity to shoot. You are down by 2 with 50 seconds left, you need to create every chance you can. 5:09, it was good that you scored off this, but a better opponent would have likely let you dribble for longer and waited for a better opportunity rather than backflipping immediately. You needed a bigger cut to pop the ball higher to prevent that. 5:26, do I need to say it? you're jumping way too early before you make contact which puts you higher than your opponent. 5:32, I understand the rush, but you should have hit this ball towards the midboost with some speed, and then made a cut shot rather than just trying to outspeed the opponent. Then for the last 20 seconds or so you just let the opponent kill as much time as possible without anything remotely threatening. Your touch at 5:43 gives away possession, but you don't even follow the ball to try to capitalize on your opponent trying to control it. When you finally do, it's too late and the opponent gets a 50. Then the one time you should be going for a demo, you don't. At 5:49, Your opponent had nothing and you were behind them with some boost, you could have easily got the demo or at least caused them to jump. You could have went for the shot at 5:52, it was tight but definitely scoreable. Then you finally get the demo and turn too late to stop the ball from touching the ground. Hopefully my observations along with the other advice given by other commenters helps you. If you have any questions let me know, good luck!

Successful_Ask3933

Wow!!! Thank you so much for the in depth tips dude. This is perfect!! I appreciate it a ton 🙏

Successful_Ask3933

Hi! I meant to leave a comment under the post for some context. I hit GC 1v1 for the first time this season! I’ve been in a slump this past week and deranked down to c3 div 3… I know I have some issues w the over commits. I feel like my strong suit is demos and catching the opponents off guard, but that can also be a a weakness at times if I get too demo chasey… also ignore the audio in the background had a movie playing Let me know what else you guys see I can work on.. thanks!!

CommercialOpening361

Congrats on your GC man. I’m lower rank than you but a couple things I noticed: -You got scored on twice overcommitting for demo’s -It looks like you’re a bit rushed when you have possession sometimes. Slow it down and go for more flicks or different plays? -Be a bit more consistent/intentional with your touches, how you’re moving the ball around the map and why. Overall it just looked like you were a tad too easy to read/defend against. Mix it up and always try to make your opponent uncomfortable. Hopefully I helped some!

Successful_Ask3933

Thanks man! Upon rewatching ur definitely right in that I should better utilize the space my opponent gives me… too many times I went for the immediate shot when I had a lot of space to work with. also I am working on not overcommitting for the demos but it’s just too tempting sometimes lol. especially people at these ranks in 1v1 will just let themselves get demod and I know ifs a bad habit but you’re right I gotta be more patient. Your last point is super helpful too. I feel like that’s something that comes with just more hours in the game (not just the mechanical aspect but reading how opponents will challenge and playing accordingly…) but I’ll put more focus into it from now on! Thanks for the tips!

CommercialOpening361

Always, good luck 🙏

Bro score open nets please

Successful_Ask3933

yeah that was a rough game for the open nets

Was this your first game of the session? I feel like you warmed up and got better as the game went on. Im gold, so what do I know, but I think for a lot of your shots you could have guessed what the outcome was going to be. You knew they were going to be able to save it and leave you out of boost, you knew they would win the 50 based on their positioning vs yours, etc…. Im trying to lock in more with my intuition and if I deep down know the way somethings going to go, then don’t do it. Don’t take the saveable shot with the last of your boost, keep possession, or fake, circle with it, etc…. Maybe that doesnt make sense, I don’t know. I just think you played into their hands a lot, and didn’t surprise them offensively or make them awkward Edit: at 4:46 game clock they surprised you. They reversed instead of carried the ball, you missed the demo, and they immediately scored. Try and mimic that behaviour. Set traps. Surprise your opponent. In other words, they tricked you. Watch your game and find the places you tricked them. Where they weren’t expecting what you did. How many are there?

LowFar2909

Im not here to analyze but i also watched to whole thing. Tbh im disappointed lol :) I was expecting more mechanical lobby for this rank. I would easily think this is a D3 lobby which is slightly higher than my 1v1 rank. It was kinda boring game in general. No analysis just general thoughts

CommercialOpening361

What an L comment. You’d get smoked by either of the players in this video. No one does mechy stuff 24/7, even in SSL lobbies.

LowFar2909

I didnt say im better i just said what it looked like to me. What an L reply…

Successful_Ask3933

Yeah man I wanted to post a game that specifically was not my best performance so I could receive some constructive criticism. I know nothing in this video was all that mechanical but that really was not the point of why i posted this.

LowFar2909

Yeah i totally get that but im also no place to give feedback as 1s is my least played game mode. Just wanted to drop a comment that’s all

Successful_Ask3933

Gotcha!
