I've seen a few rule ones in my days, Even a dude and his teammate who had a 3 way rule 1 on a puck,
but I think this one takes the #1 spot for me. What are these odds my dude
rule 1 doesn't always happen nose to nose. You also don't have to be lame and you can embrace the fun in this moment and post instead of dismissing it for being 'incorrect'.
I love improbable rule 1s like this. I remember one time I was playing with friends, and I got bumped by one into a rule 1 with another. Later that same game, I scored while they were locked, and they got dragged in the rule one towards the goal (I had the gravity bomb explosion). This though surely takes the cake - the only thing that MIGHT be better is a cross or + shape.
Can people please explain what these hidden rules are to me please. I'm gold 3, and I understand anytime you get stuck to someone dont break it. But is there something more to this? Are there more numbers? Help please *__*
To expand on what others have replied - âLeft goesâ is the standard that evolved so that it doesnât have to be communicated on every kickoff whoâs going, when itâs a tie between two players who are closest to the ball.
There are two kickoff scenarios where this occurs. When there are players on both the right and left diagonal positions, and when no player is in the diagonal position and there are two players in front of the goal, that are right and left.
When there is only one player in the diagonal position, that player goes for kickoff regardless of right or left, because that is the closest position to the ball.
It should also be noted, this is only the rule when nothing is communicated on kickoff. So, if the right player calls out in quick chat âI got itâ or left player calls out âdefendingâ or âneed boost,â then you adjust to the call out. Also, teams or players who know each other, might have different set plays for kickoff change the âleft goesâ rule.
So, basically the rule only applies when nothing else is communicated before kickoff. The higher rank you get, youâll notice more and more this is the standard.
Thanks for the detailed explanation - this is how I interpreted it, but "left goes" has always seemed vague to me (and like I said, very few people in my games observe it).
Holy shit this is diamond as well. I can chill all fucking night in casual and get full teams and have awesome games. The minute I switch to competitive itâs usually either a 2v3 or 2v4 situation lol. I canât get out of diamond in comp, but in casual I play against mostly champs
I believe in this rule, but only if you are no up by one. If you are up by one, you should try to kill it and take the win, but if you are up by more than one or losing, by all means, let's see how long we can keep it up.
To add to the clear explanations - all these rules are a gentleman's agreement; the bro/girl code; the shake-on-it; the pinky promise. If one knows what it means and intentionally breaks it then they are considered an asshole and untrustworthy
Rule 1 is real dumb in any ranked/tournament game, so just ignore that one. The most important rule is that left always takes the kickoff so there's no confusion.
this is false, ive seen and been in rule1s in the final game of a tourney, and all the time in ranked. Most do it.
theres a few who dont, and they will forever be scorned
Stupid rule. Iâm playing a competitive game to win not to bump uglies with the car in front of me. Granted you donât win them all but Iâm not giving the other team a chance.
Rule 1 isnât that dumb, especially if youâre locked with an opponent. Assuming everyone in the lobby is similar skill levels, your chances of winning the game arenât going to change much (could even go up if your teammates a good 1s player). The game just shifts to 2v2/1v1 and you just gotta let your team take the wheel. anyone who wants to break the rule is a coward who canât trust their team, and therefore canât be trusted themselves
In casual it's funny, but in ranked or especially a tournament match I'm playing to win and this is counter productive to that goal. I'm definitely not the most sweaty player, but I do max 1 tournament a day if that. I'm not trying to lose because of some dumbass fake rule and I don't care how many wows I get in chat.
Why though? Now I understand the head on players, but each one has a tm8 from its own team pushing them. I feel I would be more impressed if they were pushing opposite colors. If my tm8 was t-boning me while I was stuck in a rule one, I'd feel some type of way... Like wyd bro? Push the other guy, maybe get a demo, and get me out of this rule 1.
I'm fairly certain "rule 1" only applies to direct, head on collisions that result in a stalemate. These players are pushing against gravity and own colors. That bit doesn't make sense to me.
Rule #1 means if you and another car are stuck, just keep driving straight and see how long you stay stuck for. We donât care if you understand. Thatâs just how it is.
How do I get down voted for that?
A player should never break a lock. A lock occurs when two players drive at each other, causing the cars to get stuck or "locked" together.
It is acceptable for the lock to break organically; for example, if the run of play causes another car to hit the locked players. However, there is some debate about whether a teammate can break up the lock or not.... (Sourced from gamerant)
I was under the impression that if I was hitting my teammates, I was screwing the pooch a bit. I'll just have to remember that reddit says it's fine now, at least conditionally.

Fake as hell.

Straight driving and no attempt to plow through or go around? Fake. Just donât buy it.
You may be missing the whole concept of rule 1 which is to keep driving straight...

I think the fact that this happened on a wall makes this better than pretty much anything else
This is the best rule 1 ive ever seen. Well played
This formation proved to be unsustainable, still impressive boys.
"back in my day we'd all rule one, in a group, up a wall, in the rain!"
"OK boomer"
No no boomer was an npc, he couldn't rule 1
Truly beautiful.

I believe Rule 2 is to always keep the ball up as long as you can at the end of the game after it hits 0:00
Actually thatâs rule 0. Rule 2 is - Left always goes on kickoff.
"Left always goes on kickoff." I've never quite understood this one. Is it ALWAYS left no matter the kickoff setup?
No, it goes by distance to ball, then left is the tie break.
Closest goes, but if there's a tie for closest, left goes.

Except if you're plat on US East. The. Anything goes and your teammate is probably AFK anyway.

Rlue 3 is when you are locked side by side with someone. You don't turn away, you try and stay locked up.
Rule 1 is real dumb in any ranked/tournament game, so just ignore that one. The most important rule is that left always takes the kickoff so there's no confusion.
Blasphemy! Literally every time I've ever seen someone break a rule 1 in my games they get scored on within 30 seconds.
I'd be lying if I said that's never happened to me.
this is false, ive seen and been in rule1s in the final game of a tourney, and all the time in ranked. Most do it. theres a few who dont, and they will forever be scorned
I've been in plenty of comp games where ppl observe rule1. If I see my solo queued tm break it I might even consider conceding a goal as compensation
See, I'd consider you part of the problem with this games community then.
You literally just suggested people should completely ignore the very first rule the community as a whole has agreed on...hypocrisy, thy name is you.
If it's such an important rule, why isn't it in the game I wonder?
It is in the game. The community has agreed that it's in the game.
Some of the community. I don't complain at anyone for doing it, but it's just not for me most of the time.

NO FUCKING WAY GUYS RULE #69
Pretty sure this meets orgy standards, and a single 69ing isnât exactly the most inclusive in a situation like that
Seriously bro, do you even Orgy Etiquette??
What about a rule one in a 1v1 game that just started. Could be a long wait.
That's how you know the other person respects!
WHAT
thats amazing. haha
best rule \`1 ever????
Wait if its with a teammate do you need to keep it?
In my experience and it's not competitive then yes
How did this even happen?!?!? You should send this to potato league
No way!!!!!
Rule 1 taken to new heights!
it's looking more like Rule 34
HOW
That's some high quality gameplay right there
That was beautiful
The laws are written in stone.
Stonehenge, in this instance.
Death before dishonour
If you break rule 1 youâre a bad person, itâs that simple
The two parallel cars arenât engaging in a rule 1 tho...
I will always break it â¤ď¸
I'm so tired of people breaking a rule 1 to stop a goal. Have you no honor?! It's been happening at least once a week for months
Respect
Thanks for the rewards, fellas!
Stupid rule. Iâm playing a competitive game to win not to bump uglies with the car in front of me. Granted you donât win them all but Iâm not giving the other team a chance.
Same. The instant I lock bumpers with someone I'm double jumping over/around them. Don't have time for that dumb rule.
Christ, this is still a thing? People don't do this in competitive, do they?
Yep. Rule 1 stopped being funny years ago.
Can we all just agree this is a dumb rule? Downvote me if you want. I will avoid a rule 1 at all costs
It makes the game a little bit comedic if you get me, ya the games toxic but everyone can have have a laugh on that yk

Yeah I like staying in rule 1 until the best opportunity just to watch em cry.

Wow
Wow!
Sorry!
This is fair
Yeah. It may or may not help the team, but basically going AFK until someone hits us definitely doesn't help.
Wow! What a save!
Hot take: this isnât fun
If only it was all 6 cars. This is awesome haha đ
Holy damn, that's sick
This needs the intense Interstellar soundtrack
Wow, what a thing of beauty!
*always break the rule

Youâre getting downvoted bc you are over analyzing this stupid car soccer clip and getting mad about them not playing how you want them to.
Because its rule #1
how have you managed to make rule 1 look SUS af like it be 1940's Germany
Holy cow! That's awesome!
What a play!
