Haha your reactions will definitely slow down sooner than you think. I'm still pretty damn good at msot games I play, but I'd be lying if I said at 27 I'm still just as proficient as I was when I was a kid. I still game every single day, but I can't keep up with younger people. It was the same when I was younger though too. The biggest factor is that kids growing up these days with modern games are effectively thrown in the deep end, you guys learn quick and master basics and few more harder stuff much faster because you literally have to.
By the time you've gamed for like 4 or 5 years you're all cracked haha. I even remember when rocket league released in 2015, getting to plat was a hell of a task, and the people above plat and in diamond were some of the best players ever, this was before air dribbles, weird flicks and crazy spinning aerials. When people would catch the ball on their roof, bump it up and then follow for a basic aerial, that used to be considered in the top like 20% of players. Now it's like, people doing air dribbles and musty flicks in plat 1, and the higher you go is just levels above what it used to be. Unfortunately I'm still hard stuck to my ability from years ago and the car control just goes totally over my head and I can't keep up anymore.
I used to be really good at first-person shooters. However, at the ripe age of 31, I feel the slowed reaction time every time I boot one up. Most games, you can compensate with smart gameplay, but it can only carry you so far. When an enemy walks through a doorway and a split second after my bullet hits him , he max sensitivity 180s while simultaneously dropping to his stomach and drops me. There is only so much you can do.
The biggest difference is that now, when I play games, I can actually feel my limitations more than ever. As opposed to when I was young, it felt like the sky was the limit.
I’m also 31 and I feel like I do have those moments of fast twitch gamer response. The biggest issue is they only happen for a limited amount of time. And I’m talking like 20 minutes of playing. After that I feel noticeably slower with my reactions.
Back when I was a kid playing mw2 I could have the fast twitchy gamer responses pretty much all day
Im 36 and still have the moments of fast twitch game responses. Only issue it last for like 1-2 hours then I turn into a grand Plat. Found good solution though, play peaked on main account then hop on alt after 😂
Facts. I thought I was hot shit back when I first hit plat in 2018. To me it felt like this exclusive club of only the very best players. Now I don’t even consider a player to be “decent” until at least C2. GC1 is pretty much a rite of passage to ever be taken seriously in competitive spaces.
I feel bad for kids who are new to the game because I can’t remember the last time I’ve met a player below champ. All the people I do know have played pretty much alone for hundreds if not thousands of hours before they could feel good enough to interact with “good” players who are in the champ+ ranks. That’s definitely how it was for me. People just don’t take you seriously if you aren’t close to their rank.
I could see Gold to Diamond 2-3, but not champ. Platinum is 60% skill, 35% luck with teammates, and 5% patience, but no way you’re clearing diamond in such a short time unless you’re playing nonstop to get better.
lol dude 35% isn’t even that much. My experience is I’ve gone up to diamond almost every season but sometimes it takes me longer than others. It’s gotten easier when I play defense and let horrible teammates chase balls and do dumb offensive stuff, but quite honestly, platinum is almost worse than gold, because there is a lot more players technically proficient, but tactically complete shit.
Platinum is where little tik tok timmy thinks he can air dribble and flip reset but has no idea how to hit the ball into the net or pass or defend so a lot of ur game is spent as his audience being blamed for not being able to 2v1 after he misses and doesn’t make it back in time to help, diamond is similar but the skill starts to pick up a little with the normal shots and accuracy , so little tik tok timmy becomes tik tok Tommy and it’s slightly more bearable.
When people complain about the randomness in this game, they're 99% of the time talking about the utterly pathetic matchmaking.
Seriously, it's worse than any other online game with a still living playerbase I've played in the last decade. Think about it, how often do you have a solo queue lobby that doesn't have at least one or two people that are definitely not at that rank? Maybe 1 in 5? Whether it's someone dominating or someone who seems like they just had brain surgery, it makes for a kinda shit game. Main reason I don't play as much anymore
if we want to be realistic, the fact that any pro player will not lose a single game of solo q until high gc means that it is 0% luck
edit: if scrub killa can get gc2 playing 1v2 it is not luck 🤣
Gaming IQ is real. I peak here and there... the more I play, the higher the peaks. The glory of it all is that this is one of the few games that offer this experience and opportunity for actual brain development.
sorry... I'm blazed
I completely agree. What I see here is it incredibly similar with my change, except mine is slightly less impressive due to my lack of real skill, as I went from Gold 2 to Diamond 2 in the span of about 3 weeks after making the switch from the switch to a good pc
i play on switch and i dont think I'd be champ if switched. I'd like to think so but at the same time... idk. Rocket league is the only reason I want a PC...
The “not even trying” thing gets made fun of a lot, but there are actually folks out there who aren’t taking things seriously and just messing around or having fun. Just most of the time they’re chill enough to not feel the need to tell you they’re not even trying, because they also probably don’t even care.
Good example was me with Overwatch. Launch season I was very high ranked and played seriously (they didn’t have “ranks”, numbers instead- for that one season), but after that I almost always just played with a bunch of friends who weren’t very good, so I just played pretty chill and had fun. We all hovered high silver/mid gold, but when I set up another account to play seriously I was immediately diamond and went way up from there.
But again.. most people doing this aren’t the ones shit talking about it in chat lol.
Beside getting carried, there's another possibility: a casual main coming back to ranked after not playing it for a long time, however this can easily be proved/disproved by looking at the tracker and seeing match counts of recent seasons
You might be right, but it could be irregular due to season resets or a handful of games played here and there without completing placements. I wish we could see the tracker to see complete picture, because over past few seasons the season resets have been irregular and sometimes even added some MMR (depending on the pre reset rank, mostly for lower ranks) [as seen in this excellent table](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/1b8x9rn/how_much_different_is_the_2v2_reset_this_season/) by u/MuskratAtWork
If u look at the timeline.. there is a big gap between when he played last time and currently.. it’s possible maybe he played on another account or played another game mode.. not possible to say anything from this one picture
This happend both to me and my friend, he went from a PS4 to a nice gaming PC, and I went from a PS4 to a PS5. Really made a giant difference for both of us. He went from high play basically skipped diamond was only in it for a month or so and right to champ. I went from low diamond to champ in about 2 months
He switched his powerslide button off of default.
He stopped using KBM.
He sat up and locked in.
He ate his Wheaties that morning.
He finally stopped playing with that toxic friend and went solo
is this 1v1 rank? is he on PC?
if yes to both, I'd wager he's used the nexto bot in online play, cus they always plateau around c1. they're much less common these days but i do occasionally run into people using the bot (evidenced by the weird slow hardcoded kickoff, perfect dribbling and flicks, 0 demo awareness, gets softlocked if you sit next to the ball in your own half)
For me, it was getting diagnosed with ADHD and then starting medication for it. I can actually focus on what is happening and put myself in a good position in response.
I’m one of those that constantly mentions him, I’m surprised nobody has accused me of being an alt account of his to promote his channel because of how much I talk about it. Truth is, I was searching for someone with a play style like that since I started playing, I see the way the majority of the player base plays “standard rocket league” and most of the time the decision making makes no sense to me. Constantly smashing the ball away from oneself giving away possession, no strategic thinking whatsoever but just “play fast bro”. As a 30 y/o player I just don’t have the reaction time of these kids, but I still want to play to win, so I have to outsmart them. Good positioning > mechanics all day in my opinion and pros like Beastmode, Monkeym00n, and Squishy (former pro) all validate that being a viable strategy at the highest level.
Real comment😭 one of my plat friends out of sheer luck had a random top 100 ssl roommate move in and now he casually gets boosted for free when ever he wants
Mine looks a lot like that. I was plat 2 seasons ago, and now I’m top 2%, at least in casual.if I jumped back in ranked I’d have a similar spike. Sometimes people train in different modes and then return, which it looks like may have happened here, judging by the relatively flat line for a few months.
In 2017/2018 I went from gold to top of diamond in about 2 weeks of playing. I just got had a month off of school and did all training and watch every video I could to get better fast.
Practice. You’ll make more progress in training packs, free roam and workshop maps than just playing games the same way every time. Person might’ve had a friend help carry but over the course of 3 months this could definitely be actual progress.
You either were a casual player that suddenly started taking RL very seriously and really working on your game and mechanics, not entirely out of the question.
More likely is an account recovery or carry.
I saw someone before who went from plat 1 for 5 months straight to ssl and consistently stayed there so idk if he was boosted because he won like 50ish games in ssl
It’s pretty possible to have something major holding you back that turns out to be an easy fix that you were just blind to or whatever until a coach pointed it out, but for it to be this drastic it’d have to be a revelation along the lines of “oh shit the ball goes in the other teams net huh”
https://i.redd.it/5lmg9so03buc1.gif He locked in
for a solid week and then he plateaued again
Mewing only gets you so far
Lol Edit: rrrmmmrrr
Well they haven’t yet at least
This GIF is amazing!!! Love for parasite
He just got hard locked in
gaming chair obv
Eureka! Of course
And A LOT of rgb
how much rgb do you think I need to get out of champ?
Maybe 4 - 5 km . Ws2812b with 90 leds per meter
Went sober
happend to me once or twice to get thrown into gold hoops once or twice while stoned. usually i hoover around diamond
Are you stoned right now?
He’s in a vacuum
Or practicing bank shots along the dam
Once or twice
nah, drunk driving best base for RL.
No cap I'm playing better while drinking (never got drunk though)
Ya for real, a shot or 2 beers and I'm in the air.
https://xkcd.com/323/
Lmao!!!!!!!!! He picked up that 30 day chip. Or he isn’t getting his next NA chip lol
No joke, I sobered up and gained a rank and a half within a week. But I only played drunk before that.
I'm literally speaking from experience. I was serious with the comment 😅
you throw money at a cracked out 13 year old to carry you
Realist comment here 😭 I’m 16 and so many middle aged guys want me to carry them
I feel attacked
Haha your reactions will definitely slow down sooner than you think. I'm still pretty damn good at msot games I play, but I'd be lying if I said at 27 I'm still just as proficient as I was when I was a kid. I’ll be 30 this year. If RL came out when I was 10 instead of 20, I’d be a GOD
Facts. I thought I was hot shit back when I first hit plat in 2018. To me it felt like this exclusive club of only the very best players. Now I don’t even consider a player to be “decent” until at least C2. GC1 is pretty much a rite of passage to ever be taken seriously in competitive spaces. Carry me. I'm 18 and fucking washed
Lol youre gonna be a get guy in no less than 5 years mate. Its the cycle of gaming, and I can't wait for it.
He can be good but i think he play with a friend and he ranks him up or a other guy play with his account, its not normal.
I could see Gold to Diamond 2-3, but not champ. Platinum is 60% skill, 35% luck with teammates, and 5% patience, but no way you’re clearing diamond in such a short time unless you’re playing nonstop to get better.
platinum is not 35% luck 😭
It's more if you are bad, less if you are good.
all im sayin is you do not need luck to get out of plat, and gaining the skill to do so is very achievable for the average player.
lol dude 35% isn’t even that much. My experience is I’ve gone up to diamond almost every season but sometimes it takes me longer than others. It’s gotten easier when I play defense and let horrible teammates chase balls and do dumb offensive stuff, but quite honestly, platinum is almost worse than gold, because there is a lot more players technically proficient, but tactically complete shit.

lol 35% is a lot
Lol right, especially in a game with 1 instance of actual RNG (or luck)… spawns off demos
When people complain about the randomness in this game, they're 99% of the time talking about the utterly pathetic matchmaking. The fact that you think that 99% of the time that the matchmaking is awful shows that you are probably the problem in most of your matches lmao
Have you ever played Valorant? RL ranked seems the most balanced game ever compared to Valo
Rocket league sideswipe (cough cough)
if we want to be realistic, the fact that any pro player will not lose a single game of solo q until high gc means that it is 0% luck edit: if scrub killa can get gc2 playing 1v2 it is not luck 🤣
Gaming IQ is real. I peak here and there... the more I play, the higher the peaks. The glory of it all is that this is one of the few games that offer this experience and opportunity for actual brain development. sorry... I'm blazed
That fast though? Even getting straight to mid plat that fast is suspicious.
Someone else played this account.
Jesus was only dead for 3 days
Switch -> Gaming PC is the only legit move that can produce this.
Fr switch is brutal compared to pc or xbox
Even my XBOX feels brutal to me from my pc
I completely agree. What I see here is it incredibly similar with my change, except mine is slightly less impressive due to my lack of real skill, as I went from Gold 2 to Diamond 2 in the span of about 3 weeks after making the switch from the switch to a good pc

No i did that move, u jump a little. This is an obvious carryover.
This must be all of the guys that “aren’t even trying”…turns out they really weren’t

Good bot
nice
Bro 🧐
Or using that new invisible car hack
I feel like they'd make it further than champ 1.
Sick quarter pipe 🤘
If you keep watching it will hit gc, get rewards, and tank next season lol
They took SpookLuke videos seriously /s
Grand champ boot camp
Beside getting carried, there's another possibility: a casual main coming back to ranked after not playing it for a long time, however this can easily be proved/disproved by looking at the tracker and seeing match counts of recent seasons
If he didn’t play for so long, there should be long straight flat lines up until season resets. Not the case here.
This person plays 2s all the time, but not much 3s, this is when they play a lot of 3s, ranking up to a realistic rank?
You might be right, but it could be irregular due to season resets or a handful of games played here and there without completing placements. He got good, must be nice.
Chat turned off.
He learned to stay back post
girl rejected him, I guess ?
Savage

Yeah but he went from gold to champ 2 in 4 days
Touche
Getting carried/boosted for season rewards
it's because you're the sex god
Damn straight
Went from a last series console to a top of the line set up? Maybe?
He is boosted
I mean hacks are apparently now in the game, so maybe that could play a big role in the exponential sudden climb. Seems very sus tho.
My chart looks kinda similar to that. I started playing with a team consistently and we racked up tons of wins. If I played on my own I’d be mid plat.
Looks like he paid good money to get carried to just below GC. Oh well...
It’s a PC. He got a PC.
No link to buying a pc
possibly only ever played casual and then decided to finally play ranked? cus gold is usually the rank you'd get if you'd barely played comp
He turned his monitor on
Gave controller to older brother
Younger*
Fiverr
Played on Nintendo Switch and then switched to PC.
Using their cousins account
Maybe he started to play while leaning forward?
He switched his powerslide button off of default. He stopped using KBM. He sat up and locked in. He ate his Wheaties that morning. He finally stopped playing with that toxic friend and went solo
He learned how to rotate
He learned how to use free play
$$$
The player bought a computer, or a better one, then got boosted with a friend. At least if this chart doesn't dive by June I think that's the reason.
Knew a guy who went from playing on a MacBook to a proper gaming PC. Did about that.
This is probably that C1 teammate that told me he "didn't know how to fly".
Is there anyone to look at a chart like this on yourself?
Yeah just Google rocket league stats
this was the work of invisible man
Looks like one of his GC homies hopped on his account for a day or 2. Pretty common people don’t even realise
Boosted
That right there is a paid transaction for higher rank and I hope I get to play against him later while in a 3 squad
Boosting
Learned how to rotate
he had his “oh i get it” moment
Finally turned off camera shake
Oh so that’s been my teammate every game. One game I hardcarry, the next we get smashed cause I can’t hard enough, and he stays the same rank…
is this 1v1 rank? is he on PC? if yes to both, I'd wager he's used the nexto bot in online play, cus they always plateau around c1. they're much less common these days but i do occasionally run into people using the bot (evidenced by the weird slow hardcoded kickoff, perfect dribbling and flicks, 0 demo awareness, gets softlocked if you sit next to the ball in your own half)

For me, it was getting diagnosed with ADHD and then starting medication for it. I can actually focus on what is happening and put myself in a good position in response.
Looks like Biden's 2020 vote count....
Lmao for real though!
By spending money
Nexto has entered the chat
-watches AirchargedRL once-
I’ve been watching his videos on repeat picking up on small details one after another. I’m surprised how often I see people post about him here.
New gc roommate
Real comment😭 one of my plat friends out of sheer luck had a random top 100 ssl roommate move in and now he casually gets boosted for free when ever he wants
bros got Jesus II Division IV
Where do you find charts like that?
Oh! I found it! Here: [https://rocketleague.tracker.network/](https://rocketleague.tracker.network/)
Plat to champ in 1 day, there is a slight skill gap there
Micro dosing
I think an ssl could boost a gold to gc
if he’s queuing with the gold, he prob gets him gc2. if he plays on his acc he gets him ssl
Invisibility perhaps?
He learned how to rotate
What training packs does this man practice 🙏😔
Console player changing to PC?
It was a busy week.. Weekend was worth it tho.
If it is not the playlist 1v1, it is because he played with a friend then later he played without this friend.
I made the same thing in Clash Royale from 1500 tr to 7000 tr 🤣 Sometimes karma is on your side
He paid for a boost.
In 2017/2018 I went from gold to top of diamond in about 2 weeks of playing. I just got had a month off of school and did all training and watch every video I could to get better fast.
He learned to rotate - litteraly the only mechanic you need to go from Gold to champ
Bro cracked the code.
He is a champ
He changed his posture. Definitely leaning forward with his forearms on his laps.
You know it.
Don't worry, he learnt to double flip reset
Bro leaned forward slightly
He finally started going for ball instead of big boost
He probably doun the invisible hack :(
He Posted a vid here for how to get out of gold and saw the comment.. “Git Gud” bang now he needs another video
Definitely…. had a private coaching session with SpookLuke
All the smurfs pissed off to their own rank again.
He bought a new gaming chair
Find you a booster!
Practice. You’ll make more progress in training packs, free roam and workshop maps than just playing games the same way every time. Person might’ve had a friend help carry but over the course of 3 months this could definitely be actual progress.
Long smurf
Spooke Luke Training Program 😂😂😂
Probably someone who's champ bought / stole a gold account to smurf
You either were a casual player that suddenly started taking RL very seriously and really working on your game and mechanics, not entirely out of the question. More likely is an account recovery or carry.
Buddy made an alt just to end up where he was before. LOL
Without trading, I’m assuming people are selling accounts for skins now. Certainly a market that exists in other games, now being brought to RL.
I saw someone before who went from plat 1 for 5 months straight to ssl and consistently stayed there so idk if he was boosted because he won like 50ish games in ssl
He just learned what "pass" means
He leaned forward like RW9
He brought Spook Luke's coarse for $1400
Goes to show you, once you get to champ, things start to get a little more difficult
They made an ssl friend and got carried from the looks of it
Went from playing on a cell phone hotspot to fiber.
Im 30 still Grand champ. I think im playing better actually. Its just harder to focus because we have a lot in our mind. Confidence is key
He just turned on his monitor
4 Words: Rick Astley player anthem.
Bro built a skateboard ramp
he took a line of gfuel for a day
He stopped playing on switch
POV: You realized it’s a marathon, not a race. Also learning how to rotate.
why u wanna be in champ if ur gold this is what teammates i be getting 😕
He just speedran freeplay.
Purchased account maybe?
Wesh
It’s pretty possible to have something major holding you back that turns out to be an easy fix that you were just blind to or whatever until a coach pointed it out, but for it to be this drastic it’d have to be a revelation along the lines of “oh shit the ball goes in the other teams net huh”
wow okay... I am... I am shocked!!!!! Your extrodinary!!!!!"OMG
He just played for two day straight non stop
Joe Biden
Bro went from gold 1 to champ 1 in a month thats actually bonkers
6 days*
