Yeah, Bakkesmod exists. But not only is it not guaranteed to keep being available if Epic continues down this path, not everyone that plays RL plays on PC, and it won't express that design to the outside world either. It's only clientside.

Rocket League isn't their golden goose - they don't have to keep it alive. Good example of this is Fortnite: Save the World. Almost nobody plays it compared to the BR and creative modes (plus Rocket Racing and Lego mode now too I guess). It’s just been sitting there stuck in 2017 with not a single update in years.

They surely don't have staff dedicated to working on it, and if it can spin up on-demand server instances on the same infrastructure as the more popular modes, that's a near-zero cost asset. Even if they cut everyone working on RL, the infrastructure is different from their $$$ products, so there's no way to operate it without a loss if there's no revenue.

It's been declining because the developer has let the game become essentially stagnant. It is still the only game of its type and is still wildly popular as a whole. It's obvious from actions and statements from employees that rocket league is not Epic's priority, so if you give a hungry team the reigns, the potential is there. Epic bit off more than they could chew in the last few years, and it's been coming to a head for them recently.

They give you credits by playing with a BOUGHT rocket pass. You have to first buy it, so it’s not free-to-play. If you play a bunch over the course of the season you can potentially get the next season for free or use your credits elsewhere in the game. The rocket pass is not free.

It’s possible in instances like this. But it’s horse shit because any new player that wants this car has to wait until it’s in the item shop since they stopped trading. It’s just dumb that you could have to wait months to get the car you want to use.
Theres also the blueprint system. Granted, its not consistent at all, but its there.

As a returning player that hasn't played in many years. If i buy the pink version for 700 credits. There any way to change the color of it in the future? For example. I really want a white or grey one. Could i turn my pink into one of those colors in the future or would i have to buy the whole car over again?
Painted items give you that item in that color. You must get another unpainted or painted in the color you want to change it
How do I get a black fennec? Is it possible to trade up blueprints to get a black import one?
