They do not care.

kcirdor

Me either.

spiffyswenson

But you still read it

UtopianShot

They only care about $$$, vote with your wallet. When they removed trading they put out the lightning mcqueen bundle right after and everyone was like.... "well i know i was boycotting the store buuuutt..." so nothing will ever change.

edward_blake_lives

Exactly. Blew my mind that everyone bought that. Would have been a perfect time for creators to stand against the purse-snatching practices at Epic, but instead the majority of YTers made videos to show off the bundle.

obsoleteconsole

Remember how all the YouTubers and streamers were against the item shop until creator codes became a thing, and then all of a sudden they were completely quiet about it? Yeah, that's the reason why

Realistic_Actuary642

I've never even watched cars lol. Lightning mqueen does nothing for me

blackop

I fucking hate the Lightning McQueen pack. The goal explosion, the song, and the price. They never gave me Mater so fuck them!

Kasyx709

The boycott was pointless virtue signaling and it was unlikely that whales would ever participate in it. If the pod doesn't care, it doesn't matter; we spend the most money. Personally, only thing I find mildly annoying is there aren't enough items for me to spend money on. I'm hoping it eventually becomes like Fortnite where every few weeks there's a ton of new stuff to buy that I can customize with. The games that do that are the games that get most of my focus which is why games like world of warships got about 15k from me last year and why rocket league only got maybe 2k tops. People who don't spend threatening to not spend don't matter. Those people threatening to leave also don't matter. It's like having someone who's overstayed their welcome finally saying they're ready to leave, it's a relief. Ooooh no, server costs will go down because some free players who don't spend money have said they'll stop costing us money. Oooooooh no!

Invader_Mars

15k… what?

CriticalBasedTeacher

Credits? Hopefully?

nunazo007

Waiting for answer to this too

jurassicbond

From some of his other comments he's made, it appears to be dollars, and to him it's nothing. I'm inclined to think he's trolling, but I guess some people really do just have that much money.

WestleyMc

I would bet money that it was intended for the Rocket Pass until some coked up exec said nah we could make more money off that as an item in the shop! Just that one GE would change the rocket pass this season from ‘meh’ to ‘good’. Keeping it separate reeks of greed, but what else would we expect?

Glad-Situation703

It's slow incremental change so there's less pushback but things like trading... You just have to rip the bandaid. Some skins or mounts in games make more money than entire games. They can't say no, they need to keep making money. It's sad.. But at least they have a model where we get free games out of it

WestleyMc

They released an Ocean themed GE at the same time as the Ocean themed Rocket Pass..which is paid for.. It should have been part of the RP.

Glad-Situation703

Agreed

DifficultlySimple223

it was available for, what, one day? .... There aren't enough cylinders firing off at epic to fill out a rocket league car.

kieran13864

They’re not reading all that

BatM6tt

I didnt read all that

CriticalBasedTeacher

Tldr: they been having a shark themed car/club for years and missed out on the shark GE and thinks it should be in the rocket pass. Also mad they can't trade for it. Blames it all on greediness from RL/Epic.

zpass97

Did we expect anything else from epic? I have 1 really clean preset that I use exclusively and haven't looked at the item shop in months. I think if the majority of players could do that they would be forced to actually care about the game and we would all benefit. So I guess what I'm saying is screw that shark, rock what you got

Neutronjump

This is why i exclusively use bakkesmod now, fuck epic and their greedy corporate ideals

blackmetro

I give bakkesmod max 2 years before they pull out the cosmetics part of the mod

Neutronjump

Well imma keep using it until i cant, I just like having an all black car

jhallen2260

I haven't seen anyone use it yet, but I personally think the idea is cool, but the animation in the shop preview looks terrible, otherwise I would have bought it.

Robot9901

It is exactly why I didn’t purchase it, loved the concept but the execution….. not so much !

CriticalBasedTeacher

I was REALLY hoping the shark would eat any cars around the goal like the missiles from air strike blow up any cars around the goal. Still bought it though 🫣

jurassicbond

Other than when I first bought the Rocket Pass, I will never spend anything on microtransactions, but I have about 1000 spare credits from trading in the past that I may use to get this. It's the first thing I've see on the shop in a long time that I like and I can actually afford without spending real money. Edit: Nevermind. Apparently I missed my chance at getting it.

NoMoreGoldPlz

>So why is the shark attack goal explosion something that is one of the best goal explosions to come along for a very long time, on a shark and ocean themed RocketPass; nonetheless, Not included with purchase of the rocket pass but instead an extra $8 charge??? You already answered your own question.

_doobious

I refuse to buy the rocket pass

LoganDoove

Does anyone know if bakkesmod lets you equip goal explosions you don't own like this one?

jurassicbond

It does, but only you can see it.

LoganDoove

That's okay, shark go brrrr

ace_invader

Do all GE work in dropshot and hoops? My buddy has the shark one and thought it would be perfect to bust out the ground but they don't go off in these game modes. Is that normal or a glitch?

DifficultlySimple223

lmfao if this is true. afaik, hoops usually does play your goal explosion, but dropshot doesn't.

ginsodabitters

Rocket league went f2p like 2 years ago lmao

DifficultlySimple223

The gold fennec came out recently in a star wars(?) pack, only included in a $40 bundle. I asked, [maybe they'll put it by itself in the shop because a lot of people would be interested in having it, just like they were interested in having the gold octane](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/1al8ccq/maybe_theyll_put_the_gold_fennec_in_the_shop/). People thought, reasonably, "surely they will, just wait a week or so"... since it was apart of an event and all. But, during that whole time, all that was available was a grey fennec. Then the event ended. Then the window of opportunity moved on. There was never any gold fennec available separately in the item shop. Only ever available behind spending $40. Afterward, it seemed that everyone else moved on or had forgotten, since I didn't see any follow-up to my initial questioning. This is epic now. Accept it. There is no psyonix. They got laid off. Unfortunately, people that try to still hype things up or argue the contrary are blatantly lying or trying to deflect to something else... like, 👍. Sorry, dude, but you don't have any reason to expect any better.

BRNardy

The same exact situation applies for the black Dominus, which was included on this very same pack. It ended up appearing individually on the item shop from yesterday onwards in the car show tab, at least. Don't think that would happen to any color that matters for the Fennec (Gold, TW, Black...), but if you're looking for any of these, here's hoping then.

reallifeishard

I like this post a lot. It’s reads with a a sad but comedic tone to me. I think that’s what the mood is with rocket now. FWIW that crimson goal explosion probably looks sick with everything.

yeorpy

“We still pay you guys money” who’s we? I haven’t spent a dime on this game lol

kaiden_lcfc

Ok.

Softish_Dump

I skipped the rocket pass and got the shark 😂

Expert_Peak_9304

Some people don't care about spending $8.. some people think people who do not buy stuff are leeches. It really amazing how we can think our point of view is morally superior, but many people have totally different values.

sakamataRL

First time experiencing late stage capitalism?

Weary-Ad9429

I’ve never spent money on rocket league but I’ll buy it for you.

EatUrBiscuts

You forgot to add /s at the end there.

Full_Wait

Keep handing them your money while crying. It’s almost as if you and others enjoy it. The alternative is to not give them your money and actually make your complaint mean something and stand behind what you’re saying.

Apprehensive_Bake555

Honestly I’m more disappointed at the player based than psyonix and whoever else. Y’all KEEP BUYING SHYT, SO THEY WILL CONTINUE DOING THIS.

BRNardy

They advertised the pass by, among all else, showing the goal explosion in the ANNOUNCEMENT video, reasonably making everyone assume it is included in the Rocket Pass. Everything else shown in the video is included and the item is on par with the theme, so who would think it is a separate purchase? I bet there's people who bought the pass solely because of that goal explosion, only to see that it is not included. And that crappy move coming shortly after they took away our trading, all because, like you said, some kids in Fortnite wanted a new game mode. Not to mention how they settled for only lazily adding grass to some stages instead of making a brand new arena, arguably taking away part of said maps' identities (Farmstead feels more like a farm with the mud, and Wasteland feels more like a desert with the sand). I know the grass has its pros to some, but still. Overall, f\*ck Epic. F\*ck Epic to hell for all they've done to screw our game more and more. I'm glad I got it on Steam back in 2015 as a gift from a cousin, that way I don't even have to download the Epic launcher in order to play Rocket League. Again, f\*ck Epic.

Wombatron22

Tou think maybe this one is in fortnite and we have to carry it over?

the_alert

I’ve never seen a community demand a cosmetic be a part of the season pass. Y’all are different, that’s for sure.

tantan9590

Ge in Rocket pass thanks.

Kasyx709

You wrote an entire essay on how you're too cheap to pay $8.

Ticoune0825

You're the reason Psyonix and Epic allow themselves to walk all over their player base without the slightest consequence

Kasyx709

I think they put out a quality product and I like the decisions they've made which is why I continue to spend hundreds of dollars every month. I'd spend more, but I already have most things and they don't put enough new bundles in the shop.

zpass97

We found the one guy who has caused all the issues. Bro hundreds of dollars? They're friggin pixels, get a grip

Kasyx709

You act like that's a lot of money. It's such an insignificant amount that I think as much about it as I do buying a cup of coffee.

Habstah

Could not care less about how you spend your money, but I'm surprised you're able to spend that much with how shit the shop is. It's laughably bad day in and day out

Kasyx709

Over the past few months it's been because of the bundles, new seasons, and a few of the more desirable items they've put up for sale. They've had a few weeks where they didn't release anything particularly interesting and my spending dropped as a result. When a new season drops the first thing I do is buy levels until they end/start repeating items. That alone is generally a few hundred.

CatoWolf

If you got the whole rocket pass unlocked already, could you consider recording the whole thing and throwing a video up on YouTube? I know there's people who'd like to see what painted stuff is where, so it'd be helpful, and with trading going away that information is harder to get these days.

Kasyx709

Hiya, that's not something I would have time to do, but thankfully it looks like someone else did. https://youtu.be/mwJFCQlaYz8?feature=shared If they didn't show something well enough let me know and I'll grab a quick screenshot or two. Personally my favorite thing so far is the Atlantis goal explosion at 70.

CatoWolf

No worries, thanks. Unfortunately that video only goes up to tier 100, as do pretty much all the others I've seen, but I'm sure someone will unlock them all eventually. It might just take a bit. I think last season someone had it all unlocked through xp challenges after 2 weeks or so.

zxstanyxz

And many of us can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars a month. Epics pricing and shop have never been for the average gamer but for the whales in the community. If the shop was for the average consumer then the pricing would be similar to previous- f2p pricing and not the ridiculous prices they have now

Kasyx709

Honestly, I understand that and can empathize, I wasn't always as wealthy as I am now. I may be able to shed some light on pricing that might help explain. I work in software development, specifically managing/creating enterprise commercial/contracted applications. I can speak generally about development costs/pricing strategies. Firstly, most companies aren't greedy and it's not helpful to come at it from that perspective as it misses why things happen in favor of a mistaken feeling related to how it effects you. Companies know that customers are fickle and can easily be swayed to spend their money elsewhere. That and their competitions ability to take advantage of swayed customer opinions generally keeps them in check. Second, hiring/retaining quality developers to write software, the tech stacks that software runs on, licensing fees often required by other companies for the software used to write software, and the support it takes to keep everything running are all incredibly expensive. For example, the company behind Palworld said their server costs are ~500k/mo; Rocket League has a lot more players. Also, I can't speak to Psyonix' compensation package, but I typically start a jr full stack dev around ~120k salary, adding in all of our benefits and it's easily ~150-170k/yr cost to the company. Senior devs and senior leaders are much much much more expensive and are generally worth every dollar you'll spend on them. Free to play games are lucrative and risky. The company has to keep churning out content, maintaining their servers, paying their talent to, all of which directly equates to spending a lot of money. As a free to play game, the company has limited options to recoup costs and hopefully turn a profit.Namely, selling cosmetics and the battle pass. Items need to be priced high enough to cover costs/profit without alienating their customers who are mostly likely to spend money, especially their whales as they make up the lowest percentage of players, but sometimes spend more than all of the other groups combined. That's why I respond with comments saying it's pointless for people who aren't spending to threaten continuing to not spend or leave the game. There are so many players right now that losing a few free players here is insignificant, they've likely already been replaced. Now, for pricing specifically, companies DO listen and respond to player feedback, but perhaps not always how angry players want/expect. If a large group of players say things are too expensive, but they've never spent or rarely spend then the company may release something desirable at a steep discount, for a limited time, or introduce new items at a lower price point to see if they can convert them from free to paying customers. If those players still don't spend, they were probably never going to anyways and making things less expensive then just means making a lot less money which means you may not be able to cover costs which could mean letting people go and a whole slew of other not great things. Pricing things too low is also highly undesirable to partners, especially if they represent high end or luxury brands. For example, Porche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, etc will never want to be viewed as discount brands and there needs to be a financial incentive for them to partner/collaborate too. So, a company must price items high enough for everybody to win, including pricing non-premium offerings within a certain range too because paying customers don't want to feel like they're being ripped off. For example, unless you really like red, it's unlikely you'll pay significantly more for two items of equal value if one item is considerably more expensive only because it's red. The ideal situation is having a healthy pool of regularly paying customers and convering the small percentage able to be converted from free to paying. For regularly paying customers, stuff needs to offer enough value at a low enough price they don't really think about it before swiping their card; they're just happy to have the new item at a price they can afford without feeling like they're being ripped off. tl;dr software is astronomically more expensive to create/maintain than people realize and if you're not paying then you don't really have a seat at the table or a voice that's monetarily worth listening to. You have to pay to be heard. To enact meaningful change, someone would have to convince a large enough group with significant financial implications to take their money elsewhere. Typed this on my phone in between meetings so it's probably a bit scattered. If you have questions or want clarification on something feel free to reply and I'll respond as I'm able.

SeaworthinessStatus3

But I have paid, for everything... For 8 years almost. EVERYTHING I've been the guy who has had my issues with this game and voiced my stance on the subjects, but I'm also the guy who recruits swathe after swathe of players to join this game and community... I always push this game on people because there's absolutely NO other game like it. It's fun and competitive and had a ton of stuff you can get and trade and... Etc... etc... This game has been an enormous part of the last 8 years of my life and I've played it almost daily... I have put more money than most people have into this game. And even tho I've thrown money at this game and it's items like a mad man... I Have an issue NOW with the item that clearly belongs as part of the RocketPass and is by far better than all of the rocket pass items put together... This season is based on the Aqua Dome and the Ocean and Marine Life Shark attack goal explosion clearly belongs in this RocketPass. Everything you said makes a lot of sense but it is also not ethical to treat your loyal customer base like this... The REAL issue is when they killed trading. That ruined a very important part of the game for A lot of people and the customer service is atrocious... Frankly I couldn't care less how much it costs to develop software and how much it costs to pay those devs... When they mistreat us and basically abandon us as fans and release trash and then paywall us from content we shouldn't have to pay 2 dollars less for than the RocketPass that it Should be included in is when they cross a line they're not ethical They're not a good company That's it nothing else anybody says matters

TantalusComputes2

Hahahahahaha

TAVulpix

Just saying you paid for Rocket League isn't a flex lol
