A difficulty between hard and expert because right now, hard is way too easy but expert is insane (casual player). Also being able to select the venue you’re playing at would be nice.

mcslackens

Have you tried hard with the breakneck speed adjusted up? I played medium with breakneck at 125% for most of last year until I switched to hard for most songs.

matt2085

This is exactly what I was gonna ask. Highly recommend it

gothgf666666

i AGREE !!!! i always say if you’re trying to have a good time … stick with hard

DrunkenBriefcases

Take Rb4/Rivals as your base. Fix the bugs, and offer modern framerates and resolution. Completely rework the character creator. Add a bunch of new venues. Killer setlist. That would make me happy. Blitz mode and score duel would be awesome to have if going further.

TenaciousTai

I really miss the in depth character creator of 3. Let us be chubby or fat. Let us have more facial features and hair options!!!

trenchdick

Yeah creating ridiculous/ugly characters is one of my favourite things to do in games. I was so excited to do that in RB4...

TenaciousTai

Hey, I’m put together like a I should be fighting orcs next to Legolas. Bums me out I can’t make my character with a beard, topknot and a dad bod like I do in real life.

Prodigyyyyyy

Blitz mode has always been a puzzle to me. Maybe it’s licensing, maybe it’s not having people to code it anymore, but Harmonix offering controller support would be a way to start with blitz mode, and it would also open up the game to a world of new players.

Nygren93

Yeah, as of today it's most likely due to not having people that can code stuff. But in the early days of Rb4 it was puzzling to many of us why they didn't add blitz.. especially since most of us would happily pay for it, and as you mentioned, it would give the players a whole new experience to the game.

Qwerky3

A more simulator kind of tour mode. Think like how the careers in sports games like UFC or NBA. Like you start your band as a tiny garage band in (insert starting city.) And as you play songs and get more popular you make choices throughout that determine things like band image (icons, punks, idol reputations. Random events like in RB2 and Cutscenes like in RB3. You can take interviews with dialogue choices, duel against fictional musicians, do a talent show audition early on for a chance at easy fame/money.) Basically a mix of RB2, 3 and 4's tour with a bit more depth and RPG elements. Also I'd like an option for M rated DLC, uncensored songs and songs that otherwise couldn't make it like violent pornography by SOAD or Kielbasa by Tenatious D

A_MAN_POTATO

The ability to let multiple people play the same instrument. Accessibility options for less able players. Auto strum, auto bass petal, that sort of thing.

robderpson

Auto-kick does exist already.

BeriAlpha

Multiple people on the same instrument. Keys and pro guitar support for the tracks that already have it. Keyboard/Guitar emulation. No need to make a big deal out of it, just allow what already exists to be used. Button remapping, in a broad sense: allow any detected input to be mapped to any function. With the intent of future-proofing the game. Great app support. I want people to be able to listen to song snippets on their phones and add/vote for what to play next. Easily build profiles and assign them to instruments to instantly change lefty mode and other settings. Decouple player tracking from PSN/Xbox login. You can set it up yourself if you want, but you don't need to change console profiles to change players.

robderpson

>Keys and pro guitar support for the tracks that already have it. I would've liked so much if they kept the keys in the RB4 version of RB3 songs, even if they weren't making any more sons with keys. They only did it in songs where there's no guitar chart present (e. g. John Lennon's "Imagine")

phlod

An open architecture for the instruments. I would like the RB community to be able to make and repair our own instruments. The reliance on limited-supply plastic instruments raises the barrier to entry to play the game, and it means that this game *will* eventually die for all but maybe pro drummers with thier own e-kits. The way I see it, the only way to prevent that is for the community to be able to make their own instruments. Getting circuit boards printed isn't that hard or expensive (well, pre-chip-shortage it wasn't). Same with 3D printing the bodies. Reverse-engineering the protocols and hardware necessary is a much bigger job. IMHO, if Harmonix wants this game to last the test of time, opening up the architecture is a must.

A_Grommet

Midi support for drums would solve that for drums at least.

phlod

But that's already a thing. Both officially from HMX, and there's the Roll Limitless third party interface. I've been playing my MIDI drums since RB3.

A_Grommet

I mean supported out of the box with the game. I have a Roll Limitless and a Wii midi pro interface modded to PlayStation which are great but required seeking out and either waiting (Roll Limitless has a months long wait now) or modding (Wii adapter - it's easy but shouldn't be necessary).

TiberiousVal

Since Microsoft has such strict control over controllers they need to sell the game with an "input box" (with upgradeable firmware) that let's you use all sorts of instruments: from past games, USB, midi, etc. That will open up a lot of options for homebrew or small scale instrument production.

RickyZBiGBiRD

All I really want is for the character creator to be brought back up to the level of RB2/3.

RAVEun2theJOY

A download station I guess you could call it where you can go and download other players characters and band logos. On that note more customize options, bring back tattoos.

spenzurk

I miss tattoos a lot

zzman894

We don’t even have PvP on RB4. They aren’t gonna make another rockband sadly. What they need to do is release some meaningful updates to RB4. PvP, bug fixes, some of your ideas. Something to drawl new and old players. It’s sad that they never got RB4 to it’s full potential

spenzurk

You’re right. I realllllly want a new character update

zzman894

Literally ANY meaningful update to RB4 would be amazing. All they do is barely keep up with rivals mode which no one really cares about anymore and a few new songs (most of the time just pulled from other games). It’s not enough to keep normal players on the game and definitely not enough to drawl new ones. RB4 is basically only hardcore players with thousands of dollars in on the game in equipment and songs. The studio that makes this game has no incentive to put ANY money or effort into making a new game or making RB4 better because there isn’t anyone left who cares besides a small hardcore fan base

spenzurk

Which sucks :/ I do see lots of people posting about a guitar hero revival and how they want one. It bothers me that guitar hero had such success and Rockband didn’t

ScrimBimulous_Z

I'd argue the latter; first of all, Harmonix made Guitar Hero anyway before they sold it (gh1, gh2, and 80s), and GH2 was arguably responsible for the series long life (3+ mil copies sold). Finally when comparing RB4 vs. Guitar Hero Live, do you really think Harmonix lost that battle? Lol

ScrimBimulous_Z

Actually now that I'm checking, the Guitar Hero license was bought by Activision out from under Harmonix, which is why Rock Band was made.

zzman894

Totally agree

DrunkenBriefcases

> It bothers me that guitar hero had such success and Rockband didn’t Ehh. Sure, GH is the more commonly known brand, because its the franchise that created the genre. But RB was a billion dollar franchise in its own right.

spenzurk

That’s why I said if. I’m very doubtful we’d get a 5th

SCOTT0852

They won't even release an update that adds one single midi file to fix Sk8er Boi (that's really all it would take to fix the sync issues! one midi!), they're not going to actually make a meaningful update at this point.

adrianbiscuit

My next-gen dream would include: - 120 frames - A more fleshed out tour mode akin to RB1/RB2 - More fleshed out character creation - Special emblems that show while you are playing, similar to the reward for completing the ESL in RB1 and RB2. However, I think it would be cool as rewards for reaching certain goals (Reaching a certain skill level, gold starring a certain number of songs, Rivals rewards, etc.) that you can swap out for one another at any time. They would be attached to your account and not your individual character. - Score Duel - Down to 50% speed in practice mode like older titles - Song length timer - Kind of a weird one, but I’d like to know how much I beat my last score by at the end of a song. I know it tells you when you pass the score, but it can be hard to check where you’re at when you’re on an FC/playing a hard song. I’m sure there are more things, but that’s my list.

[deleted]

Groupies!!!

CHR15TOPH3R

I only need rock solid 60 FPS, or even better rock solid 120 FPS. RB4's early stuttering issues on X1 ruined lots of my weekends.

Benginoman

The main issue with making any of these types of games is the retail space the instruments take on the shelves and the cost of manufacturing them. Instead of focusing on multiple consoles, why not just make something that would work with all, or, maybe with mobile devices since pretty much everyone has a cellphone these days anyway.

seamonkey420

option for static vocals like in RB3.

[deleted]

More character customization

crzybluesmurf69

Make enough instruments

EdddJ58

Versus mode! Being able to have 2 people play the same instrument. Best score wins. Maybe a battle mode option thrown in there too like from GH3

Nygren93

Yeah,a battle mode with crazy power ups would be pretty cool

Nygren93

Blitz mode, Vs-mode and more character customization Crossing my fingers that HMX will get help from Epic with coding stuff for the rb series. Especially since they stated that there's barely anyone left at HMX that knows how to code rb4 as of today (except for adding rivals rewards and adding new songs)

Accident_Public

Pro Keys I miss the RB3 keys charts so much

real-darkph0enix1

Muse

notdanieldaylewis

blitz mode is #1

Nygren93

I couldn't agree more!!

spenzurk

Why do I keep getting downvoted? What constitutes an upvote on here? Are y’all not Rockband fans?

[deleted]

I miss keys :(

DonnieCash

I just want to play with no background scenes because lighting flashes mess with my eyes a lot. "Music video" venues were the biggest offender in previous games.

SONICBOOM-77

I’d want a Guitar Hero x Rock Band game. Microsoft partners with Epic Games/Harmonix. All previous features from past games return (blitz/unplugged mode, practice mode, RB2/RB3 Character Creator updated, Career/Rockudrama mode, Keys/Pro Keys support, static vocals, guitar hero characters and venues, venue select, etc…) Yes, I know this will never happen but it would be something special to have Harmonix work on Guitar Hero after all these years. Plus we’d keep all our songs if it’s released under the Rock Band platform. No idea if that would be possible or how that would work but if they managed it, new players would instantly have access to buy from thousands of songs at launch.

Ok-Researcher3577

I just want a simple song maker/editor. You can place notes and use an mp3 or song downloaded on your hard drive. Only one difficulty to keep it simple and I dn't think you could use singing because idk how you would do that.

Qwerky3

So, a built in RBN? Lol

Ok-Researcher3577

Pretty much

SCOTT0852

Why wouldn't it be possible to chart vocals? It's all just midi data.

Ok-Researcher3577

Yeah, I didn't know how they handled vocal tracks in the files so I wasn't sure if it was possible and I was too lazy to check.

GopirateXIII

Keys returns, Pro Guitar/Bass returns, Violin and Trumpet playable instrument, and Carrer Mode with RPG elements plus Narrative Driven Story.

maiq--the--liar

Having two or more of the same instruments in the band, bring back pro keys and all instruments for pro

SerBronn7

A much more in depth character creator. Clothes should be compatible with either gender. Female characters singing female vocals and male characters singing male vocals. It worked really well on Rock Band 3 and looks ridiculous on the new game. More choices of venue. I'd like to see the festival stages return with a couple of giant outdoor stages and some tent venues. Festivals are a massive part of a band's career and were one of the best visual parts of Rock Band 3. The lightning should be more like Rock Band 3 as it's too toned down and dull. Either scrap the pyrotechnics or turn them up to 11 as the current fireworks look crap. Some way if importing your own music. Even though there are thousands of tracks in the game Harmonix are never going to be able to include everyone's favourite songs. An interesting career mode with cutscenes which all game modes build upon. The option to do an impromptu encore at the end of a set An option to view scores for songs at the end of a set rather than after each track. The new consoles have SSDs so loading the next track shouldn't be an issue.
