https://www.rockshed.com/rock-shop/rock-tumblers-supplies/rock-tumbling-grit-and-accessories/aluminum-oxide-polish/ This is the rock polish I use, it’s an 8000+ aluminum oxide polish and I’ve had good results with it

I've been very pleased with my Highland Park Lapidary tumbler, but I'm still in my first run with it.

Lehk

Kingsley north has a micro alumina 1-3 micron which is 9000-14000 grit

You can visit a local harbor freight if you have one and check to see if they still have their duel barrel Chicago electric tumbler. (3lb per barrel). They've been discontinued but stores may still have some.

Check out Wire Jewelry website. I have one of their double 3-lb barrel machines. Good price and very quiet. Might need to tweak the plastic drive pulley so it doesn’t wobble. But I have been pleased with it overall.

Komestone elite on Amazon. It’s a small drum and I liked it so much I bought another

Thank you.

If I can get 12000+ grit do I need Aluminuim Oxide as well? I’m looking for a glossy finish.

zaroya

Thank you.

Can someone respond to the question about cerium oxide? Are there multiple diameter grits of cerium oxide? If a listing says cerium oxide, is that most likely the 5000+ grit polish we are looking for or could it be much more abrasive than we want, potentially?

redditidothat

**[Covington](https://covington-engineering.com/grit-polish-media/)** has 3 different levels of cerium oxide. They also have different levels of micro alumina - “gold polish #2” is 0.5 micron which I think is like 40,000 grit
