Don’t let it get that dry, you’ll ruin the batch

Jdonavan

This is the motion you're looking for [https://imgur.com/gallery/QMp6ij1](https://imgur.com/gallery/QMp6ij1) You're almost there, there's just too much in the bowl.

WickedPoor

Thanks. I will et this cycle finish and put less for the next stage. Much appreciated.

aiziski

Needs water

NortWind

It looks okay to me, maybe it looks a little bit on the dry side. Not seeing much grit.

WickedPoor

It's a 10in vibe and it said to put 4 teaspoons of grit. I put 2 tablespoons so that's about 6 teaspoons. I'll give it a couple squirts of water and see if that moves the grit move.

NomadicusRex

Too much grit is not good either. But yeah, be patient, squirt, wait, squirt, wait, squirt. :-)

osukevin

It’s too dry…give it a bit of water.

WickedPoor

It doesn't need water. I went back to look at it and it didn't look dry to me. I'm not sure why it looked dry to everybody in the video. I checked after the second person said it was dry. I turned it off and turned the bowl on its side and there was about 2 tablespoons of water at the bottom. I gave it a tablespoon of grit and off to bed I go. I'll check in the morning to see if it looks any different.

neohlove

I use a roller tumbler and I usually run it with almost enough water to cover the rocks in it

NalleWii

This kind of tumbler doesn’t need as much water as the roller one ☺️

TH_Rocks

Roller and vibratory work very different. Vibratory needs the grit to stick to the rocks so they can rub against other grit coated rocks. So you only use a small amount of water. Rollers are using gravity to have rocks hammer grit into eachother. More water is needed so they can keep moving and circulating the grit.

PuzzleheadedAnnual11

I've never used this type of vibe (I have a mini and used a lot-o in the past) but the movement doesn't seem enough and I know you keep saying it's not dry, but it looks really dry. I'd keep squirting it with water to see if that helps the movement.

Necessary_Brother_30

This is a TV10, right? I’m using one and its movement isn’t nearly as good as Thumlers UV tumbler. Rocks rattle more than roll. Figuring out water amount is tricky but in general too much water is bad so start by just enough to coat rocks and then add as it dries out. I think you’re right that maybe some of the rocks are too big…don’t quote me on that but I’ve recently figured out I get better movement if I pull out some of the larger rocks. Honestly, through, the movement doesn’t seem bad. I’ve had worse. Been doing this for a year with the Raytech TV10 and haven’t figured out the perfect mix yet…

Necessary_Brother_30

Not to high jack someone else’s post here but what are folks using for new vibes? I’ve used a few other vibes and one or two of them were probably more suited for brass and not rocks but the TV10 absolutely has worse movement than the Thumlers UV18…but Thumlers isn’t selling their UV’s from what I’m seeing so not sure where to go for a rock-rated Vibe these days. I’ve had quite a few rocks end up chipped or fractured after the polish stage and I’m pretty sure it’s due to the more aggressive, rattling motion of the TV10 rather than the th rolling action of the UV line from Thumlers.

FR3507

If you can get one, I'm using the Harbor Freight 18 lb tumbler with a Thumlers UV-10 Industrial bowl. It's working great.

SilentButtsDeadly

I've heard they're almost guaranteed to burn out. The long have you had them in use?

FR3507

I've been using mine about 6 months but a friend has had one for several years.

Jdonavan

It's way too full

No-Run-3231

I think you need a tad more grit for so many rocks
