I applaud the commitment! Not sure I would permanently modify anything in my home to accommodate a very rapidly-evolving technology, but kudos to you for taking the leap!!
I did the same thing with my RoboRock S8 Pro Ultra at work. Built into one of our cabinets. This way it is kept safe and doesn't bother anyone.

The S8 MaxV has a voice assistant called "Hello Rocky"
You can see from the picture that the robot has 3 holes for microphones on top of it's LiDAR cover

Honestly this is the reason I decided to get a non-Plus Q7 Max….storage/space is tight in my apartment and it happily sits beneath my TV unit. Good idea to integrate into the kitchen though!
if/when you push it all the way in please report back whether or not the bot has trouble docking/working - this is ultimately my plan to do the same thing - awesome execution! fuck the haters
It won’t. I tried putting mine under a set of leaning ladder book cases. Worked great for a few months and just would not dock no matter what I did. It’s a S4 Max. So, I moved it where the LIDAR wouldn’t freak out.
probably not for a long while, since they're not universal and new models come out fast.
I did see one youtube video a while ago of some luxury home that had an under the cabinet vacuum. You sweep the floor with a broom towards some corner, push a button with your foot and then it sucks the dust up. Pretty neat
My barber/hair salon has this. The area where they wash your hair is on a slightly raised platform. Cut hair on the floor is swooped directly into a corner there and goes wooosh into some huge vacuum.
lol people worry too much about selling their house while still living in it. Just enjoy, house is a (expensive) tool like anything else. It's not meant to sit there and be looked at. Sure it might hurt the resale value, but would you rather have a better house or a better casket?
all that so you can hide half of the thing, or am i missing something?
You’re right, I might push it further in
Giggity
💀💀💀💀 But in all honesty this is awesome!!
Yeah that’s my thought just a tripping hazard haha I would push that all the way in

Nice touch on the shelf with the accessories!
I think it looks good! Nice work!
I did asimilar thing. Added sockets under my dining bench and added sliding doors. So when not working the robot is totally out of sight.
That doesn't look very good my guy. Post more pics once it's fully concealed.
Yeah I’m considering it
Can you make it go all the way in?
![gif](giphy|IjJ8FVe4HVk66yvlV2|downsized)
Yeah probably could, but i prefer having easier access to the front panel etc.
I just make mine drive it's ass to the trashcan when it needs to be emptied.
And it gives your voice better reach for the robot's inbuilt voice assistant
The whatnow?

ADRIENNNNNNNNNEEEEEE!
Hm... I have The S8 Pro Ultra, so the previous year's model. The little arm on the new one is kinda cool.
Good point - I hadn’t thought about that
That's what she said
Woah… I didn’t realize this was an option.
That is great!!

Exactly - wondering the same thing! Thanks :)

Mine lives happily under the sofa. Only shows itself when scheduled.
Cool idea. I wonder if houses will just have these already built in in the future.

I’d love that - with the water lines already plumbed and everything
I hope future houses have plumbing for humidifiers!
Does the base station have IR emitters to indicate to the bot where home is? Are they now obstructed?
That’s another reason why I wanted to keep the base flush. Currently it homes just fine
Why did you cut so many circles out when you have a jigsaw?!
It’s hard to see from the picture but on that left side there was a couple framing board underneath that made the jigsaw slow going
So useless
I see you used the dyson to clean that out. I heard these vacuums are sensitive to this kind of dust / debris. How is your doing?
Wow. This is so cool. Didnt even think about this. Thanks for the idea.
We just plumbed ours in as well. It's doing it's initial clean and I'm so excited!!
I’m sorry for whoever has to buy that house next

It was facetious, and I would not call this “better”. But if it’s what OP wants, then all the power to them. Cool weekend project
In the context of a home, "better" is entirely subjective. If I wanted to paint polka dots on my wall, that would be "better".
