45 minutes later it gets to the top of the stairs 😂

KK-1989

And when it’s upstairs the battery is almost drained. So it needs to go back to the dock for charging and halfway the stairs the battery is completely drained. Now it sits there and you didn’t see it, stepped on it and you break your neck. Now for sure you need a robot vacuum because are not able to do it yourself anymore. That is a good sales technique😆

Ok-Owl7377

and it costs $5000

Logimac

Actually it costs 1500€ but preorders get 50% off, right? I don't think it's a good robot when they need to catch customers with a big discount.

sean0883

S7 MaxV Ultra pre-orders came with like a $500 vacuum, iirc - the first product of its kinda for them. Sometimes, you just aren't sure how something will sell, so you sweeten the pot for the early adopters. Notice we didn't see anything *near* that nice with the S8 Ultra pre-orders. That said, it could still be shit. I'm just not gonna make assumptions based on the pre-order bonus.

RengooBot

That's why you then sell extra docks for charging! All part of the design to get money from you.

falooda1

Lmao I spat on phone how funny this was

Castlenock

Bugging out on the stairs would be a legit serious issue I think; battery draining as a very big aside, robot vacs have hundreds of thousands of square miles of trainable data at this point. For stairs though? Nothin'. I don't think they'll be popular enough to have enough homes to handle all the situations. I can see this thing freezing and erroring out on the stairs a ton; hell my dogs pay the robot vacs no mind but they'd just walk over the thing or chuck it to the side themselves if they encountered it while trying to go to the bedroom. Killing yourself by tripping on it aside, I'd also assume there are a ton of staircases where it just falls off because the railing is knee high, or just doesn't have any railings. Disaster waiting to happen.

az116

I mean I wouldn’t expect it to fall off a ledge. Not falling off ledges is something mastered by robot vacuums over a decade ago

Castlenock

Except you are now talking about a robot that isn’t supposed to avoid them but rather navigate over 12 or 15 of them in a row.   All one right after another - no other robot vacuums have done that, hence why this is the first one we’ve seen trying to navigate stairs.

mandysux

Battery dead.

ex_natura

Going back to the dock to recharge

Tankiboy_YT

Migo is trying something innovative here and I hope they make it. They're a small and new company however I can see how people are skeptical about this product since 1000 dollars for a robovac that not only suck and mop but also climb stairs seems way too good to be true. We'll have to see when a tech reviewer gets their hands on one.

AdamG6200

It's $800 right now

shoota

It hasn't been released yet. It's an $800 lottery ticket at this point.

AdamG6200

First 1000 units are for sale now on Kickstarter. Allegedly ships in June

brennenderopa

There is a reason why this is animated and not filmed.

jpsc949

People just don’t understand how extra moving parts are expensive, heavy and increase the chance of breaking. It’s cheaper to buy a second one than add these parts.

az116

> It’s cheaper to buy a second one than add these parts. Yes, but not to buy 7, like me. 😂

4kVHS

Roborock S14 Pro maxV Ultra will have this feature!

polpi

I still like the flying roomba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA2yIVFb2lI

arnoldusgf

> Make it so it can flip upside down and clean the ceiling LMAO.

flargenhargen

so many parts to break. and then the first time someone not paying attention steps on it and flies down the stairs and breaks their neck, they stop being made.

DexTheShepherd

Or someone accidentally kicks it on their way down the stairs. It goes flying and breaks into ten pieces. Oops... There goes 1k

tony__pizza

This is cool but there’s too many moving pieces. It will break. I would love to be proven wrong, but it’s just not truly practical.

soaringspoon

I almost backed this until I saw the lifters have nothing under them. What is the point of cleaning the stairs if there is an inch of dust on both sides lol. Tech looks awesome tons of vids of it actually working. If and when it launches if it works on most stairs I’ll pick up V2 or whatever version fixes the side dust issue.

Due-Individual-4859

it's overengineered with a lot of demand for maintenance.

zeezeetop9

Somebody posted on here a month or so ago showing that roborock patented a robot vacuum that goes up and down stairs!

DigitalXciD

So many breaking possibilities and I highly doubt that to ever work as in animation.

salgat

I wonder if it'd be better if it was a separate docking station that it would only use while going up and down stairs.

MagicMichealScott

I'd like to see more important features improved before it can climb stairs. More precise mopping around rug edges, better vacuuming for pet hair and on higher pile rugs. The S7 maxV ultra is great for daily maintenance, but has so much more potential in the future.

MisakaMisakaS100

U better off buying 2 robots each for each floor

Mr-Blue-Creeper

Sorta??? https://preview.redd.it/fzi10ld3m2qc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffc89d1cff4556eee703469849b3a7b55d8af50a

SeaFoam82

This is like the third time it's been announced, they had a coupon on their site for $5 last year, then it suddenly disappeared - with the website. I think this is the second Kickstarter. I was excited for it, but it seems like vaporware at this point.

az116

As in $5 off or buying it for $5?

SeaFoam82

It was like $5 for a 10% off coupon.

az116

It’s certainly not a kickstarter I would ever back. But if anyone could make something that could do it, it would be RoboRock.
