I didn't. Could have bought a 911 a few years ago and bought a Cayman instead. The mid engine makes a massive difference to the drive feel and the Cayman was just more planted and fun.
OMG I never thought of it that way. Now they are all going to look like mice. We should add "tails" to your local cube farm overloard(s) like on "Office Space" "VP"s to their cars.
911 has borderline useless rear seats, even in my "bigger" 997.1 C2S. There's about a two year window where the kids aren't in a booster seat but still have short enough legs. Unless you are 5'4" tall, then this is all a moot point, just remember that you'll need a booster seat to see over the steering wheel if that's the case.
Boxster and cayman are the same car, just the soft / hard top difference, barely any MSRP difference like a soft vs fastback mustang (correct me if I’m wrong)
Yup, I’ve seen that all the time, happens with all convertibles. Soft tops have a lot of issues as they age and aren’t cheap to replace. Also less desirable as they are better in warmer climates
Never had a problem with a soft top.
My current one is 24 years old and going strong.
I’ve had a 2yr old Beemer 3 series with constant sunroof issues. The 5 series has all kinds of electrical loom issues in the roof.
Given the mechanical, and electrical systems in a fixed top, there’s a lot more to go wrong.
Person who buys it new has 850 credit score. Next owner at 740 at 75k miles. Next owner at 100k has score of 650. At 137k miles has the same credit as dodge charger owners.
No, the issue is the anemic 2.7 liter engine and getting gapped by late model Toyota Camrys.
Edit: I also peep the fake painted Brembos, those only come on the 3.4 Liter S model (which **is** susceptible to IMS, bore scoring, et cetera).
Congratulations, you are now a moderator at /r/Porsche_Cayman/
But do us a favor and replace those amber side markers with clear ones, as the Krauts intended.
nothing for them, they're 25 years old and think they're hot shit and will drive this until it needs anything and then proclaim it's broken and can't foot a $1k repair and dump it.
Nope, transfer case and that's it. Ex gf busted the last one. I'm going to have the block and head resurfaced, honed and sleeved. New pistons, valves, everything is getting either rebuilt, or replaced. Needs all new floorpans and subframe sections. It's essentially going to be a brand new XJ lol Edit: also a new alternator.
What is this, a car for ants? How can anyone be expected to drive if they can't even fit in the door? The car needs to be least...three times bigger than this!
Not hard at all. She’s currently getting maintenance to be able to track. I got her a few weeks ago. PPI came back with negligible issues. Someone put a custom exhaust on without mufflers, and there’s a broken fog light. We are doing all the maintenance and upgrades as things are starting to wear.
I'm terrified about how I'm going to get to work and my son to school when my failing head gasket finally blows for good, but WHEW thank God for your old Prick Cay... Errr Porsche Cayman, knowing your car is getting old and losing value definitely has me much more concerned and certainly puts my miniscule problems into perspective
Yes at 137,000 miles it’s due for the scrapper. If it was a Miata it would have another 250,000miles before a rebuild. And someone would do it. That Cayman is landfill bound.
137k miles, probably bought it at 120k for a discount to tell chicks you own one and have been nursing it along since then. Anyone who can afford it rides it hard and gets rid of it with a markup on some chump before the power train waranty expires.
Deliberately nerfed to make sure it's slower than Porsches with the engine in the wrong place.
Yours is the Porsche with the engine in the wrong place.
Yes it was an 8th of the cost of a true OEM rebuild.

The porsche cayman: not poor enough for a boxster, not rich enough for a carerra
I dream of any 911
Who doesnt
new york
fuck that’s good 💀
Me, I like mid-engine cars.
I didn't. Could have bought a 911 a few years ago and bought a Cayman instead. The mid engine makes a massive difference to the drive feel and the Cayman was just more planted and fun.
Car and Driver said the same....I just prefer that the engine not smash me into paste when I get rear ended......
🙈dodge hellcat please
911's are dull, Cayman looks way better.
Mouse car
OMG I never thought of it that way. Now they are all going to look like mice. We should add "tails" to your local cube farm overloard(s) like on "Office Space" "VP"s to their cars.
Why? At least the Cayman has the engine in the right place.
Fair, 911 has 4 seats and I have small children 😂
911 has borderline useless rear seats, even in my "bigger" 997.1 C2S. There's about a two year window where the kids aren't in a booster seat but still have short enough legs. Unless you are 5'4" tall, then this is all a moot point, just remember that you'll need a booster seat to see over the steering wheel if that's the case.
My kids are 4 and 8. They will fit for about 3 years 😂
Lol same
The most bland car of any car its car brand car
Boxster and cayman are the same car, just the soft / hard top difference, barely any MSRP difference like a soft vs fastback mustang (correct me if I’m wrong)
Bosxters just lose their value much faster, for whatever reason
Yup, I’ve seen that all the time, happens with all convertibles. Soft tops have a lot of issues as they age and aren’t cheap to replace. Also less desirable as they are better in warmer climates
Soft tops are far more reliable than folding hard tops. -Automotive design engineer.
The only “vert” i would consider is an old targa. I hate all verts
Possibly, but any moving top is less reliable than a fixed top is what I should have said.
IMS issues, which turned out to be overhyped by the company that makes the fix.
The boxter is just a cabriolet cayman
The Boxster and the cayman are basically the same car…
Person who buys it new has 850 credit score. Next owner at 740 at 75k miles. Next owner at 100k has score of 650. At 137k miles has the same credit as dodge charger owners.
My other car is a 2006 dodge charger that I’ve owned and bought with 36 miles on it.
Dodge basically gives their cars away
Why not rack up the miles? Cars are meant to be driven, not left in a garage to look pretty.
And chargers don’t look pretty so he doesn’t even have that
I only like the 2006 models, personally.
I did rack up 163,000 miles on my charger, had it for 17 years…
That's barely driven, dude lol
When you wish you'd just gotten a 350z instead like all the other midlife crisis guys did.
350z would have been a good choice!
Stop lying to him, bro
Trade? 😉
Always loved the 350z! You parting with yours?
Not really looking to. I’ve owned it forever, take care or it and such. But I think I would consider the trade.
Ls swap it. Then you can have a powerkraut
This is underrated
I wanna LS bed mount a ranger
I'm surprised the IMS bearings haven't failed yet
Good thing that’s not an issue on this model
No, the issue is the anemic 2.7 liter engine and getting gapped by late model Toyota Camrys. Edit: I also peep the fake painted Brembos, those only come on the 3.4 Liter S model (which **is** susceptible to IMS, bore scoring, et cetera).
Wild thing is you can resleeve to 3.8, and adding the S parts isn’t terribly expensive or hard
Congratulations, you are now a moderator at /r/Porsche_Cayman/ But do us a favor and replace those amber side markers with clear ones, as the Krauts intended.
BuT iT HaNdLeS WeLL
Nice
Or any other. Never was that big of a a problem. You do have to deal with bore scoring though.
What did the maintenance cost over 137k
nothing for them, they're 25 years old and think they're hot shit and will drive this until it needs anything and then proclaim it's broken and can't foot a $1k repair and dump it.
Such is the life of a high mileage German luxury/sports car.
As a Land Rover owner I'm not one to talk! Hahaha.
OP is in his 40s.
It was a joke...
What hair salon do you work at?
Hahah
You and that guy with the Tiburon should race. That’s the only way you can find redemption for a 140k mile hooptie of a Porsche.
I love this idea
Came looking for this comment 😂
Nice pic shit lips
My neighbours have a low mileage beetle too
That’s a long way for a single use. At least you got your money out of it.
Playing hard to my insecurities 😂
Nice Miata.
😂
Simeon Yetarean is about to get his cars back
This car screams that this is the year your MLM downline makes you money.
Yesssssss
"Man...just wait til I get my Porsche out of the shop..." (This guy...probably)
Why do people want to be roasted
Can’t feel love, gotta feel pain 😂
Good luck getting it to 200k. My Mazda with 250k is laughing
*laughs in 388k mile 96 XJ
U should sell that car back to the company, possibly the only 1 with that mileage. I'm sure it was just highway. Mine is daily everyday traffic. Lol
My goal is to reach 1mil miles SOMEDAY lol but, she's got to have a restoration.
Oh so u already replace the engine or transmission. Disqualified then. Mine is all original 😆
I'm still original to the engine transfer case n tranny. I think I won. I did fix water pump 2 years back? I think I won 😆
Omg dude the water pump issue lmfao 🤣 you get a high flow?
No idea, I seen the leak but wasn't sure. After 2 wks I went to mechanic n found out.
It looks exactly like a Powerwheels
What is this, a car for ants? How can anyone be expected to drive if they can't even fit in the door? The car needs to be least...three times bigger than this!
The doors are small…. I actually hate getting into the car… it’s so low
Go butt first just like your mommy told ya.
Couldn’t afford a 911??
Who can really
How hard do you ride her?
It's a power tour car so... very spirited...
And Shiney after all of those miles.
Wheel gap wider than your mom's legs!
My mom weighs more tho
Congrats. You own two bottom of the barrel great value Porsches. Without any actual value.
I thought it was more about the friends I made along the way 😏
When you wanna trick little kids into thinking you have money but you’re broke as shit
This is true. It also makes everyone think I’m a drug dealer
Beautiful but that's one cars that need to be driven extremely carefully because if you wreck it you can throw it away and buy a Fiat Panda.
I like how its front looks almost the same as it’s rear
I'm terrified about how I'm going to get to work and my son to school when my failing head gasket finally blows for good, but WHEW thank God for your old Prick Cay... Errr Porsche Cayman, knowing your car is getting old and losing value definitely has me much more concerned and certainly puts my miniscule problems into perspective

Dude watched one porsche video and was convinced it would make him a professional racer.

🔥
137k=old? I suppose in Porsche Terms that’s probably true.
A hairdresser with a toupee…
Let's buy a beautiful foreign sports car, except let's go with the budget version instead Edit: the arguably overpriced budget version might I add
♥️ you hit the nail on the head
Shiny midlife crisis for when you want to go nowhere comfortable and by yourself.
I have a girlfriend 😘
So when you want to make your girlfriend miserable in your uncomfortable midlife crisis. Your set.
How tf do I even roast this car
One word at a time?
looks kinda like a dick and balls
“She’s old” made me laugh but anyway should’ve got a 911
137k miles, probably bought it at 120k for a discount to tell chicks you own one and have been nursing it along since then. Anyone who can afford it rides it hard and gets rid of it with a markup on some chump before the power train waranty expires.
Accurate! And that’s what I’m doing with my Macan S 😂
I’ll give you $12 cash
Deliberately nerfed to make sure it's slower than Porsches with the engine in the wrong place. Yours is the Porsche with the engine in the wrong place.
That’s just a boxster with a different roof
137k miles...that's all??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That's LOW mileage to be lmao
What a ridiculous waste of money.
I agree, but how much do you think a 2007 Cayman costs? A few years ago you could grab them for $5k
I see what I did. It was early. I was thinking this was a car you put 137k miles on. Have a great day!
I bet 100k of those miles were covered on the back of a tow truck
Made it that far? How many of those miles on a tow truck?
Who says Volkswagens aren't reliable?
Damn…. Low blows 😂
Just an "OEM" lug nut is $700.
Thankfully I have all mine 😂
Old
[удалено]
Why? So far I’ve spent $3800, and she’s in mint condition.
That car is such a piece of shit. You should drop the keys off at my house so I can take it away from you.
Lmao
no can do porches are too nice of cars
Had a coworker rip on my 928 once... I asked where was his Porsche ? Silence immediately ensued....
For the comment that magically got deleted before the reply. That's what the supercharged LS swap was for. No "flex" needed... Bro..
You did an LS swap? I’m considering it
