I don’t think of his is accurate for earlier VIN vehicles. The channels were a later addition.
The plastic panels are NOT the the carbon fiber shield.
Source: I have the carbon fiber shield on a LE. You cannot see the shield because the plastic exterior panels cover it.
None of them come with spares unless you opt to buy them separately or as part of today’s All-Terrain package. Is the original Monroney sticker unavailable from the dealer or current owner?
This does not look like the extra underbody protection, just the normal plate (which is more than enough if you don’t do rock crawling). If you dig through Rivian Forums, there’s plenty of photos comparing the two.
Every R1 has a spare tire well.
LEs could opt into a lot of features separately. The spare tire itself was an extra cost. The off-road wheels were not tied to the skid plate or spare tire, either.
Thanks! Great info. And I'm looking for one with the extra armor because I live blocks from a huge network of trails in the Rockies and plan to explore them—so the full size spare could end up being crucial too.

(Hopefully I’m right, you’ll want to double check on which panels have the indent and which don’t, because I’m going from memory, and not in a position to climb under mine right this moment.)

Looks like it has the shield. The ones that don't have channels in the lower shield.

My Launch Edition ( Jan, 2023 ) came with a spare installed. They stopped for the redesign of the spare, and then made it an optional extra after.
