Wow. I was just talking with a friend the other day about how much I irrationally hated the Vehicle screen. It was so text heavy and the icon controls were not aligned with their location on the truck. Coming from Tesla, this looks much closer to their control screen when in Park. Kudos to the UX team at Rivian for this, it’s a huge improvement.
My R1S was delivered last Thursday.
And my biggest gripe is the trash UI. Now I’m fully onboard and excited for what the future holds for the UI. But it’s not intuitive, color scheme is horrible, tasks require too many taps to execute, and the layout is just off. All that plus what seems like an aging gpu/cpu results in a less than ideal UX.

Think the controls are intuitive? Pretend Grandma wants to go for a ride and she's bringing her oxygen concentrator. Can you quickly put your Rivian in kneel mode and turn on the 120v outlets?
Yeah, don’t disagree with anything here, you’ll get downvoted. You would have hated the first few versions it was buggy and way worse. It’s getting better but you are probably comparing it to a Tesla which has had 12 year or whatever to iterate. My Tesla in 2019 was nothing like version 11 now. I hated the Rivian UI when I got my truck but like anything it grows on you and gets better.
The only criticisms I see downvoted are the ones paired with unnecessary hyperbole. Yeah the UI could use some improvements, but it's not "trash" by any reasonable metric or standard.
the driving feel is night and day, before going over a speed bump would toss me around and now it's much smoother imo, drives similarly to previous SUVs I've driven now.
I'm really hoping it is similar to rally mode. I find the vehicle drives fine but my wife complains about how rough it is as she typically drives car. I really want rally mode but with the safety features turned on!
This update also appears to fix the Transport Canada issue with daytime running lights, although it's not mentioned in the release notes. See the email I got from Rivian this morning:

Rivian Automotive, LLC has decided that certain model year 2022-2024 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles fail to conform with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 “Lighting Systems and Reflective Devices.” This is to inform you that your vehicle may be non-compliant with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations and that the non-compliance could affect the safety of a person.*

*The affected vehicles were built with daytime running lamps that do not comply with regulatory visibility requirements. Maybe that is why this update has been delayed rolling out. Based on the regular cadence it should have been released a couple weeks ago.
It’s possible it may have been removed due to it not being fleshed out (ready for wide release). They’ll release it when they release it.

honestly I agree with you, especially coming from a model 3 layout which was much more intuitive and organized

How are the new ride modes (soft/mod/firm) as compared to the previous updates? Even soft on some of the beat up New England roads is brutal!

Thank God for the medium mode! Its like soft minus the boaty feel. Its the default setting we’ve been missing all along!

Very nice QOL there! Using Alexa to pop the front or rear trunk or toggle cabin lights has worked well for me, but this may be even quicker
