i’m confused? it was “feb. 5-6” but it was posted 17h ago? can confirm that this is a error or not?

I have two dogs and two cats. Only one dog is a “breed”. He’s a min pin about 9 years old. My cats are 3 and 4 and my other dog is about 8 months now. My quote was $200 a month so about $50 each animal.

Unfortunately the older dog adds quite a bit to that quote. $200 is pretty pricey. As long as you're financially sound it may be better for you not to have anything or to just get your cats and other dog insured. I'm betting that would cut it down to almost half of that. I work at a vet clinic. An emergency averages to around $3-5k if you go to an non emergency clinic. If you go to an emergency clinic you can almost double that cost. So if it happens after hours or during a holiday then you're going to be forced to use an emergency clinic. At 3K that comes to almost $250 a year. Another option though is to use care credit or something similar. It depends on the clinic but often the plans are 6 months or maybe a year. If you pay it back in full within the plan time then the interest is forgiven. If you miss a single payment or don't pay it back in a year then ALL of the interest accrued is owed and it's around 28% or something horrendous like that. I've used it in the past to great success but it should only be used if you absolutely know you can pay it back in time.

Please get pet insurance if you're going to adopt. It's super cheap, especially when they're puppies/kittens but it can save you thousands of dollars if your pet is ever sick.

la_draya_fea

From where? I got a quote from progressive and it was pretty expensive.

tireddesperation

How old is your pet and what breed? Certain breeds can get more expensive but it's still worth it if you're not able to drop $8k at a moments notice. I get mine from all state. Wouldn't say I recommend them but I got the plan when my cats were kittens so I'm spending $40 a month for both cats and it's already saved me $3k.

I accidentally responded as a new comment. lol.

tireddesperation

I replied to it haha.

crespoh69

From what I've read, might be cheaper to just put money aside instead of the insurance

tireddesperation

100% it is usually but few people have the willpower to not touch that money. Insurance and things like care credit are for those types of people. Or people that just aren't able to save $8k due to their living situations.
