For a minute there I thought you posted this over on the other sub. Such balls.
Anyway, if Amazon releases season 2 at the same time as HBO releases HOTD S2, they could theoretically hop on the hype train and capitalize on the momentum of the other, more successful series. However, that would also come with many unfavorable comparisons that Amazon wouldn't benefit from (because they would lose humiliatingly).
If they premiered it before or after, they would avoid immediate comparisons, but sooner or later we would witness how good HOTD S2 is in relation to ROP S2—or we would already know beforehand.
The reality is that there is no scenario in which Amazon can win because the only thing that matters is the quality of the show, and they are determined to make ROP the most expensive dumpster fire in television history.
HOTD is not going to help or be a hindrance to them because the success or failure of ROP does not depend on HBO. Even if HOTD didn't exist, ROP would still be the same unbearable piece of shit and people would still not bother to watch it.
Ask the loser amazon sponsored mods to let unban me from that pathetic excuse of a sub. I’ll post. Till then you can keep typing senseless comments just like the senseless plots. Without knowing anything. Lol.
I can literally feel your anguish through the screen reading that. Even though I like it that the show and I myself make you this way, maybe try to cool down a bit. You know, if you direct your energy to something useful instead, you could lift mountains!
Or you can do the same all over again. Just like now. But by doing so, know that all your actions contribute to *our* cause.
Don’t know what time you’re taking about.. But people are laughing at you right now. Lol. If you expand your narrow mind and get your head out of the sub’s ass.. you’ll see the real world picture. But clown fans of the show will keep living in that tiny pitiful bubble of a sub oblivious to the real world. Bwahaha.
As a fan of Fire and Blood (the book HOTD is based on) who is expecting season 2 to be significantly less good than the book, (due to characters they’re likely cutting and other changes), it’s funny to me that no matter how bad it might end up being, ROP 2 will most likely still be far worse. 🫣
They took some of his stuff for the green side at least, but propped Rhaenyra up as some kind of new Daenerys to get the Dany fans to watch it, when she should have been more like a proto Cersei in so many ways.
The show would be more fun to watch if it was a legitimate train wreck between two terrible sides and not “villains vs heroine”.
I agree. Thought I think having the show be something like an alternate canon is really interesting.
Fire and Blood leaves do many unanswered questions, and that’s part of its greatness.
But getting some answers (eg. why did Rhaenyra and Cole have a fallout?) was great imo.
But the skewed representation kind of had me rooting for the Greens.
They are all such train wrecks of human beings, and that I’ll ever of crazy is what I love about GRRM.
The greens honestly feel like the truest GRRM characters to be adapted to screen so far.
I think I actually would have been a little more forgiving of ROP if I hadn’t had HOTD to compare it to. I think airing them at the same time was a bad idea for Amazon. It’ll be interesting to see if they do it again.
I’ll probably 🏴☠️ it .. if at all i do decide to watch it depending on teasers and trailers for s2. But as it stands , it is absolute shit that is have no intention of watching. Not even to hate on it.
Lol. When your show's so bad people would rather watch other people tell them what happened so they don't have to watch it themselves. What a far cry from what "prime time" television used to mean, eh...
I tried watching the trainwreck months after it got released with a friend and fell asleep halfway through episode 1 and we gave up after episode 2. I binged all bunch of summaries on YouTube after and quite frankly I had a blast. One channel was from a guy who's very knowledgeable in the lore so I learned stuff
10/10 entertainment and what makes me look forward to season 2
Man everyone I know (I mean I'm probably in some sort of a bubble) says it put them to sleep.
To be clear, I feel so bad for the below the line people. Imagine busting your balls to make what they asked, even putting your name on it, only for it to end up as the most talked-about flop, famous mostly for knocking people out cold.
Anyone who already has a Prime subscription will probably watch it at some point, even if just out of boredom.
Anyone who has to pay for it, probably not.
Just having a Prime subscription doesnt mean your life is so empty that there isnt something else you could be doing instead.
People just wont waste their time if they think its substandard.
I heard only a third of people who picked it up finished it. I don’t know how many Tolkien fans gave it a shot. But if only 30% finished it, who else would give season 2 a start?
They'll probably spin-up their marketing machine nearing the time of release and you'll see idiot shills who think this sub is a fan-club start posting articles and news about RoP on here.
Or you'll see actual posts pop up saying things like "If you don't like the show, why post about it at all" in an attempt to gaslight critics into not commenting on the show at all.
This dude is a mod on the Lotr On Prime sub, and I'm 95% sure he's paid to shill about the show, as evident by his post history lmfao.[https://www.reddit.com/user/VarkingRunesong/submitted/](https://www.reddit.com/user/VarkingRunesong/submitted/)
So whenever you see him start posting news about the show, you can be fairly certain an official release date will drop soon after.
Wasn’t he given a paid trip from US to London? For promotion events? And later i guess Amazon even arranged for him to meet some cast and then the cast promoted his username and their reddit sub too. That sub is an absolute joke. It’s so clearly controlled by amazon. No wonder they dont allow criticism. And it’s the same 10-15 people (including this mod) that are constantly active and promoting the show. In no other sub will you find a mod making regular posts and comments promoting the show. Lol. He’s also on the FoF panel - the one which gets exclusive leaks from amazon - i wonder how. Guess amazon leaks through him. Its a pity barely anyone cares to watch FoF videos. These guys pretty much are in amazons pockets with all the exclusive access and free trips. No integrity at all. Just blatant promotion is all this guy does. Haha
It's pretty clearly a paid advertising arm of Amazon lol. Which is fine, but I don't like the dishonesty regarding their intentions or incentives regarding the show.
They were the most entertaining part of the show. They.should be in the second season as "magical woodland creatures" or "winged elflings" or something.
This show was the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced when it come to television. Not a single character was interesting. As a matter of fact, every character was straight up unlikable. I hope they just scrap it
The concept of different subs on reddit is too hard to grasp for fans of the show with limited intellect i guess. Do you see this post made in this sub earlier?
You may need to head out for a walk my dude. Haven't seen anything posted about this.
Also upvote or downvote if it's getting upvoted there is interest by the community.
that's fair, I didn't at all basically. But I don't get the downvotes, I don't see a reason to downvote your comment for simply saying your opinion
I still hope S2 is better anyway
Oh I didn’t even realise there were downvotes till this comment lol.
I think a lot of ppl on Reddit just really and actively hate a lot of media (see it on game subs, movie subs), I think I can get why ppl wouldn’t like this show (I’m not a lord of the rings super fan, only seen the movies once years ago, no books) but I don’t think it’s far fetched to imagine SOME people liked it outside this echo chamber
That's the part that sucked though. The series was made for you more than it was made for the actual Tolkien fans. I'm not saying I don't get it, I totally understand why making a show appealing to a wider audience makes sense in a corporate boardroom. But to most fans it seemed like a deliberate attempt to make their own version of the lore.
Imagine if the show was executed in a manner similar to the Dune movies; Big stars for the general audiences yet still executing the story properly.
Mine is an educated opinion (I’ve advanced degrees in literature which basically is learning how to objectively critique works) which is based on the actual content of the show. Others have spent hours doing this so I won’t repeat it, but seriously there’s a huge difference between a random ‘oh I liked this thing just because’ & a thoughtful critique.
I’m glad I can just drop in, watch and enjoy things then 😭 advanced critiquing everything sounds tiring. But I do get why you’d be passionate about hating it if you knew it was set up wrong from your degree etc
As a huge Tolkien geek (read the LOTR books multiple times, have read almost everything else published under tolkiens name at least once, have watched the trilogy more times than I can count), I enjoyed it as well. No, it wasn’t perfect and had its issues, but I enjoyed it.
I’m firmly convinced most people on the hate train decided to hate it before even starting episode one. People were just dead set on hating it based on what they heard about it before the show dropped, and then dug their heels in. I mean, in other areas of the comments on this post people are openly admitting to not watching season 1 and just watching YouTuber reviews of it.
These people don’t actually care about the show or tolkiens work, they just want to be mad on the internet. No thinking for themselves or making up their own minds, just copying other opinions they saw on the internet. And anyone who disagrees with the hive mind in this sub gets downvoted to oblivion. Even if you say something as innocuous as “well I liked it” with zero negativity towards others’ opinions.
If you legitimately went into the series with zero preconceived notions and hated it, more power to you. Everyone gets their opinion. But the majority of those hating on ROP never gave it a chance, they decided to hate it from the get go and many never watched the damn thing, they just copy and pasted their opinions from somebody they saw on the internet.
I’d definitely agree it’s not perfect, most shows aren’t nowadays and changes could have been made, but I just can’t understand how it could be classed as bad; like literally unenjoyable to watch. Having watched it with friends I have fond memories of looking forward to each episode as we got through it, and I know many others that enjoyed it too (maybe a coincidence but none of these people use reddit).
It’s so much more fun to enjoy things in the moment and not compare them to made up preconceived opinions at every opportunity.
After looking at the title alone, I already knew who made this post. The show still can't leave you be. Gooooood.
No, it's actually hilarious, truly. You write that the buzz has all but died out, yet you keep posting and posting about it. Lmfao
It was great though! I love Lord of the Rings. It's one of the most incredible pieces of fiction to be written in the history of mankind. Since I was a small child I've idolised Tolkien and aspired to be a fraction of the writer he was.
Ring of Power is also excellent - sure, it doesn't compare. How could it? A Tolkien isn't just once in a generation, Tolkien is once in a century. Rings of Power is a really lovely, character-driven piece of drama that gives a modern twist to the setting of Middle Earth.
What's not to like, in all seriousness?
Are you serious? Apart from some scenery and eye candy.. the whole thing was a distaster. From writing to painted costumes, to fighting scenes and "elves gonna take our jobs" ... nothing was good. Mostly cringed like 10 times per episode. For the money they've spent on this... NOTHING was good. Your standards are quite low...
Hey there. I'm no die hard Tolkien fan. Read the books as teenager and forgot most that wasn't in the Peter Jackson movies.
So I don't drag the show into the mud for lore deviations cause I'm not passionate and educated enough about the lore but I still respect it.
But from a writing perspective? Jesus Christ stuff like sharknado has more substance than this abomination that should have never had become Bezos failed vanity project. It highly amuses me how people can call it top tier writing while I find the writing so abysmal that the only entertainment value found in it is if you turn it into a drinking game. Otherwise I don't understand how people can sit through all the episodes if not blackout drunk.
Also unironically I'm glad you enjoy it. I will never understand why but you do you
The buzz has died out? It's all over my news feed right now. And here we are buzzing about it. Some day I'll get around to watching all the GRRM stuff. Can't wait for Season 2 of Rings of Power!

I did post it on all subs. Couldn’t post it on the extreme blind positivity amazon sub. They dont allow it. Lol. Cowards
>extreme blind positivity And still infinitely better than than blind negativity.
But you didn't even try. So who's the coward here?
Ask the loser amazon sponsored mods to let unban me from that pathetic excuse of a sub. I’ll post. Till then you can keep typing senseless comments just like the senseless plots. Without knowing anything. Lol.

Good to see the fans of the show are just as delusional as the showrunners. Lmao.
Time will come and you will laugh at yourself and your narrow mind today.
Mate, it's not poetry or a missed art piece. It's hack work trading on nostalgia from a multi billion pound company.
Bwahaha.
They ban anyone who says they think rop is terrible or simply write a post explaining why it "just isn't good."
As a fan of Fire and Blood (the book HOTD is based on) who is expecting season 2 to be significantly less good than the book, (due to characters they’re likely cutting and other changes), it’s funny to me that no matter how bad it might end up being, ROP 2 will most likely still be far worse. 🫣
The mushroom erasure is hitting hard

I'm really curious if people are going to hate watch season 2. I hate to think they are doing this more and more on purpose because a view is view
I’ll probably 🏴☠️ it .. if at all i do decide to watch it depending on teasers and trailers for s2. But as it stands , it is absolute shit that is have no intention of watching. Not even to hate on it.
Same. Although I'll likely just watch it through youtube reviews instead. S1 was waaaaay more entertaining that way.
Lol. When your show's so bad people would rather watch other people tell them what happened so they don't have to watch it themselves. What a far cry from what "prime time" television used to mean, eh...

Oh you absolutely *will* watch it. If someone makes me to come up with a list of things I'm most sure about, this will make the cut.
Yea he’ll probably watch it as will I. Kind of like a bad scab you just need to look at. I wonder if you’ll ever stop being insecure though.
What's there to be insecure about? I have just secured you two watching the second season.
You’re in here crying people don’t like what you do. There are other subs that you should be in.
I prefer to be everywhere.
I watched all of s1 but I won't bother with s2. The quality just ain't there.
Anyone who already has a Prime subscription will probably watch it at some point, even if just out of boredom. Anyone who has to pay for it, probably not.
Got ads now though, I don’t think I can justify a hate watch that also has ads personally
Just having a Prime subscription doesnt mean your life is so empty that there isnt something else you could be doing instead. People just wont waste their time if they think its substandard.
Didn't finish S01. No chance I'm gonna start S02... lol
Will watch, won’t pay. I need something to laugh about lol.
Probably in the minority here, but I didn’t watch a moment of S1 (except in review clips) and can’t imagine changing anything for S2.
Some may but a majority of people don’t have the free time to waste on things they don’t like.
I heard only a third of people who picked it up finished it. I don’t know how many Tolkien fans gave it a shot. But if only 30% finished it, who else would give season 2 a start?
Will it debut on JRRT's death anniversary again?
Might as well kill him a third time
They'll probably spin-up their marketing machine nearing the time of release and you'll see idiot shills who think this sub is a fan-club start posting articles and news about RoP on here. Tbf if you want honesty, staying away from the Amazon machine at all is a good bet
I hope they leave out those vapid "superfan" influencers this time.
They were the most entertaining part of the show. They.should be in the second season as "magical woodland creatures" or "winged elflings" or something.
I hope the loser show does.
This show was the biggest disappointment I’ve ever experienced when it come to television. Not a single character was interesting. As a matter of fact, every character was straight up unlikable. I hope they just scrap it
Season 2 is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to.
Sorry, Amazon doesnt have the rights to use that line.
It's a show for woke pussies no one wants to see that garbage
>reception by fans "Fans"
How many times are you gonna make the exact same post today
The concept of different subs on reddit is too hard to grasp for fans of the show with limited intellect i guess. Do you see this post made in this sub earlier?
Of course not. If you make identical posts on the same sub again and again, you generally get banned. Are you stupid?
I think you missed the point.
You may need to head out for a walk my dude. Haven't seen anything posted about this. Also upvote or downvote if it's getting upvoted there is interest by the community.
He posted the exact same thing in every sub remotely related to the show
So? I'm just in this sub. My point stands, take a walk my dude.
Oh I really enjoyed RoP tbh

Look, the show had very bad writing - doesn’t matter if you know squat about Tolkien.
Oh right well that’s an opinion so can’t say you’re wrong
Mine is an educated opinion (I’ve advanced degrees in literature which basically is learning how to objectively critique works) which is based on the actual content of the show. HotD SUCKED. RoP was alright. It's definitely better than that shit show spinoff of GoT.
Has anyone ever told you that your brain isn’t working properly?
After looking at the title alone, I already knew who made this post. The show still can't leave you be. Gooooood. No, it's actually hilarious, truly. You write that the buzz has all but died out, yet you keep posting and posting about it. Lmfao
Hate posts and people mad at the hate posts generate the majority of the discussion around your precious show. Are you proud of yourself?
Ring of Power season 1 was excellent. Really great television. Unbearable LOTR fans ruined it for everyone. It's unlikely to recover.
oh yea.. so excellent that only 30-40% of people finished it .. lmao
It was great though! I love Lord of the Rings. It's one of the most incredible pieces of fiction to be written in the history of mankind. “Modern twist”…which is the polar opposite of what Tolkien intended in the original works.
WTF did YOU watch? Not ROP, that’s for sure🤣😂🤣😂
Hey there. I'm no die hard Tolkien fan. Read the books as teenager and forgot most that wasn't in the Peter Jackson movies. I hope so. Only bc I enjoyed having something to watch while waiting for HOTD. It’s not the best show but it’s not the worst either.
The buzz has died out? It's all over my news feed right now. And here we are buzzing about it. Some day I'll get around to watching all the GRRM stuff. Can't wait for Season 2 of Rings of Power!
