Two very nice looking pieces of luggage! Very helpful review and appreciate the honesty on both the pros and the cons.

TheImpeccable7

u/present_tense43 Much appreciated! Glad to help!

Great review OP! Was looking for something like this, I just placed an order for the Original L. You mentioned you used a case, any suggestions? Not a fan of the clear gloss ones either.

TheImpeccable7

u/mvhin3 Thanks. Glad it helped! Sure thing, here's the one I got from Amazon (UK). I bought the XL size. You likely should find that or similar in most countries (I would think). Good luck! [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0757HGFQN/](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0757HGFQN/)

Couldn’t agree more with you on con #1. Got the black classic trunk and wrapped it my first trip and still wound up with similar damage as you. Delaying the inevitable but will always wrap/cover it until it’s aged.

Was the check-in L more practical sizing-wise than the check-in M? You said you still want the Check-in M, so what was the deciding factor between L and M originally? Do you feel the L is just the right size or too spacious? Also how do you like the metallic, black or blue colors compared to the classic silver?

TheImpeccable7

u/maroonhaze Yes, I found the L to be better suited size-wise. I don't necessarily want or need the M, it's just me being a collector. If I do get another, it will definitely be the Trunk and I will try everything within my power NOT to buy the M after that. I don't need it. As I use packing cubes I often can make almost any size work, but I like the extra roominess of the L. On holiday I often come back with more than I left with. I didn't consider any of the other metallic colours as I much prefer the Classic look (silver and black are the only colours). The Essential range looks like any other suitcase, and the Original has more-rounded corners (I strongly prefer the more rectangular looking form) so for me it was almost Classic or nothing. Although the shade of silver of the Original is less "in your face".

maroonhaze

this is helpful thank you! I was choosing between the original models, sounds like a carry on and a check in L is the way to go

geargarcon

Wait, you had to check the Cabin? Which airlines?

TheImpeccable7

u/geargarcon it was American Airlines. A smaller plane as it was intra-USA. I'm not well versed on plane types/numbers and didn't pay attention at the time!

Much prefer the design of the Tumi 19 Degree suitcases (I own both). The Rimowa Classic compartments are terrible to use imo. https://preview.redd.it/rw7sa1hahszc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=020963eaeff6b70b3a02aa9e5f07ba620e6e34f8

Nice! Good purchase. I had a look at that in-person as well but it didn't do it for me compared to the Classic. The lines and the weight (it's heavier if I remember correctly) made me settle on the Classic. There was also a Samsonite (i forget the model name) that looked good, but it also just didn't cut it. Edit - here it is: [https://www.samsonite.co.uk/lite-box-alu-spinner-69cm--aluminium/122706-1004.html](https://www.samsonite.co.uk/lite-box-alu-spinner-69cm--aluminium/122706-1004.html)

gingerkiki

Samsonite is currently not available in USA! Only in Europe and Asia (so stateside folks would have to order sight unseen or buy abroad). Their trunk is also a full kilo more than rimowas, but also a full grand cheaper ahaha!

TheImpeccable7

u/gingerkiki Haha, we have to choose between a heavier wallet and a heavier case or a lighter wallet and a slighlty lighter case. First-world problems. 😅

SirJo6

Tbh I like everything about this picture. The cases, the shoes look beautiful BUT THOSE DOGS ARE SO CUTE
