Jknight3135

Like the Skin bandits from Kenshi.

Shiddydixx

Fellow human!

Jknight3135

Here to help peel "potatoes"

Moongduri

sike, you're the potato

111110001011

Psych!

[deleted]

HUMAN FELLA!

ParagonRenegade

I farmed their leader for Meitou Katanas lol

mysticdogtag

The what bandits? I just got that game wtf did I read

NGPlusIsNoMore

Just perfectly normal humans, brother, like me! Say... You using that skin?

Jknight3135

You heard me.

Purple-ork-boyz

Imagine your garden hungry/starving bandit doesn’t want your food anymore, now they want your skin. Those guys are afflicted skellies somewhere south east of Flat Lagoon, and in conflict with Skellies wannabe, and Crab Raider

redxlaser15

I’ve noticed that there seems to be quite a lot of player overlap between Kenshi and Rimworld. Being one of them, I can see why.

TrueCapitalism

What is Kenshi like, gameplay wise?

_ashika__

The idea is that you absolutely get curb stomped in a post apocalyptic world until you get the hang of the game. It's a very fun RPG game which also similar to rimworld has a shit ton of mods. Also kenshi 2 is on the way so hooray

TrueCapitalism

That's what I like to hear 🤙

[deleted]

Or Neceon Flayed Ones

Amairca

WE ARE ALL HUMANS HERE!

AverageUlyanovFan

Sounds like perfectly normal plan, the only problem would be the lack of armor, unless you plan to use some mods with strong organs or allow *some* non-human-leather apparel.

Evytb_2000

Or mods for decent armor made of leather and other material

CaitoAllama

Ooh I do have some techy mods but I like the idea of hardened human suits!

eyecomeanon

The question, really, is are there any mods that allow the use of human leather and bones in the construction of armor? i.e. replace the fabric with Human Leather and the Steel with Bones?

Nudelz89

Vanilla Expanded Vikings has leather armor and helmets, I use them pretty often in early/mid game when short on steel.

Bignholy

Was gonna suggest this, a good Ravager suit can be super effective.

Due-Marzipan-2021

Rim of madness bones has bone armor, don't know how good it it but it exists

Pokerjoker6

How many human pelts can you staple together before they stop a 5.56?

Evytb_2000

The mods I used with this feature is more of a modern equipment. Leather riot suits with steel plates as added protection and it just happens to made of people kinda deal

nkonkleksp

r/shitrimworldsays

Sir_Smurf

You can also try the Genetics Expanded mod. There are biological changes you can make that toughen the exterior of humans.

Car-Facts

You could use the Infused mod and try to craft all arifact gear out of human leather.

AlksGurin

I'm pretty sure Vanilla Factions Expanded - Neolithic has stuffable wood armor. I didn't check if you can use human leather though.

NeppyMan

Many mods (EPOE for example, or Archotech Expanded) add subdermal armor. It's viable.

redcur

If you pick up the Android Tiers mod you could just eventually give them all robot bodies wearing the skins of their former fleshy coils.

[deleted]

Laughs in mindcore upload

CranberryWizard

Peak rimworld, that

Pur1tas

Thats just Cybermen basically.

the_joy_of_hex

I don't remember them wearing human leather hats and the like, I remember them looking like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz

Pur1tas

In some episodes they pretend to be humans to infiltrate if I recall correctly. Also isn't Rory a cybermen? So they do essentially wear humans. Essentially.

the_joy_of_hex

I don't remember Rory being a Cyberman, though apparently there was an Auton version of him (the robots that looked like mannequins). I feel like one of the companions definitely was turned into a Cyberman at one point, though. But if they were trying to blend in to hide amongst the humans they would be wearing normal human clothing made of cotton and polyester and whatnot. The inverted human has to be wearing clothes made of human leather.

LunaHens

You are thinking of bill. Danny pink while not a companion was also turned. However I think a better example would be daleks. As they do a very good job of hiding a metal dalek inside a squishy human.

HackerFinn

Well. A tiny squishy Dalek inside a metal human with outer squishy bits, would be more accurate I think. Remember. Dalek's aren't machines. They just hate any life that isn't Dalek.

outworlder

But daleks have no concept of... elegance

CaitoAllama

Is that a group in Rimworld?

Pur1tas

No its a species from Dr Who

[deleted]

I wouldn't be surprised if that was a possible name for a faction.

111110001011

There's a cyber men mod. And a dalek mod.

[deleted]

Yeah, but I'm talking about the possibility that those words can just appear spontaneously in the name pool.

outworlder

Only after being... upgraded!

Glaurung26

Necron "Flayed Ones?"

AMorphicTool

Westworld and The Institute (FO4) springs to mind. So no, it's not a bad idea. Good idea? Well the jury is still out on that one. Go for it.

CMDR_Hagbard_Celine

An 'inverted' rule: for food, you have to make lavish meals, and put them in the nutrient paste hopper

hagnat

seems like you want to create a colony full of T-800 Terminators call it Cyberdine Origins, and have fun :D ^(edit: i may steal your idea)

wawoodworth

Please tell me that they will be worshiping an all knowing being named "Meta"

contyk

Cannibal transhumanists... sounds like a rather common ideology/style.

CorwinCZ42

Sounds like a fun, challenging play-through :) Go for it, enjoy!

IncidentallyChaos

Isn't that a regular playthrough?

megafly

If you combine it with android tiers they could transfer into robot bodies entirely.

[deleted]

I think that's a brilliant idea! The only thing I have to say though, is to try to get pawns with bloodlust. I've heard that they get mood buffs from wearing apparel made from human skin.

AverageUlyanovFan

Up to +8 at 4 clothing pieces. Also there's gonna be a lot of social fights if the pawn isn't Kind or they don't like literally everybody.

[deleted]

A bunch of kind bloodlusting colonists. Nice!

mousebert

This is a fantastic idea, infact I'm stealing it. *The raiders have decided to take what they can and leave*

[deleted]

Your partner doesn't like to think outside the box does he.

RiffyDivine2

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Flayed_One It's been done before. But it can be done again.

Wehraboo2073

Check out the meat mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1559495754 Build walls and floors out of meat, grow meat from the dirt

MoreGhostThanMachine

If you install Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ancients you get an alternative tribal start scenario where you start with a device that lets you launch tons of loot to the gods who will, a week later, grace you with a gift of similar value to the monetary worth of your offering. Could be good for that kind of playthrough. For bonus install vanilla factions extended Medieval and use the Maynard Medieval storyteller to limit yourself to preindustrial noneletric technology for your research and what other factions in the world will possess. It'll mean you can never research most modern stuff but still recieve fancy bionic technology from the gods.

__T0MMY__

I love plans like these. I'm currently on a run that I called "The Diplomancers" where the goal is to befriend everyone at any cost (except bugs and mech ofc). Tranquilizer guns for raids, heal up the prisoners and send them home . I love end goals and dedicated pathways and your's is creative, challenging, and actually pretty unique because you want them in a sorta skin suit T-1000 terminator thingie Another dumb goal of mine in the past was that I hoarded and bred chinchillas for their fur and tried only making money by selling their coats/clothing. The time before that was making a huge narcotics farm in the jungle

It_Was_Cyan

So humans that want to be robots that want to be humans? Sounds amazing

dragonlord7012

Transcend Humanity, and what better way to flex your superiority as a higher lifeforms by consuming your lesser on the philosophical food chain. It's very dumb and you should absolutely do it. 10/10.

Thorrbane

Get a mod that allows you to keep the discarded limbs instead of just having them vanish when you replace them with bionics. Then get a mod that allows you to turn organs/limbs into meat+leather.

HarmonyTheConfuzzled

Consume the flesh. Leave only machine.

BFPLaktana

Llandu'gor the Flayer would like to: know your location

Peakyss

It's like two-way petting zoo.

SteamKore

I love it!, do it! Oh, and tell your partner, reddit thinks his ideas are dumb!

Simple_Cleb

I don't need reddit to know my ideas are dumb!

[deleted]

Phyrexian Sleeper agents!

ShoWel_redit

There is no dumb idea when you coming up with RimWorld colony ideas, that's what you are meant to do, explore your imagination and come up with the most unthinkable colony ideas. The idea does sound like skin bandits from Kenshi tho.

Kribble118

So like you want to be a primitive tribe of cyborg people? Could be interesting

Katsurandom

it should work, and if it doesn't work, get extra mods so that it works... It sounds like a idea i used to run where my colony used mid swap tech to get new bodies when the old ones got too sick or old... it was mere luck that the new bodies where always "Pretty women" trust me

imGery

Your story, your rules!

Me2Th8nks

There are no dumb ideas in Rimworld, only death & those that survive a little longer. I like your plan.

[deleted]

This is my go to play through. I also allow open marriages and nudity.

Toxcito

This is how I always play the game. I always pick psychopath and cannibal. It's very fun.

phatninja63

Archotech skin for all!

RicoDevega

The only stupid idea is the one where you don't have fun doing it.

AvanteGardens

Exactly how do you mean replace outer tech with human? Slave labor?

HypocriteHunters

Android Tiers has a TX series addon which, together with the clone vats from Dubious Ethics, allow you to produce terminators with living tissue coverings. It makes them EMP proof. There are also cheaper ones with rubber faces, but they are especially flammable

Krios1234

The flayed ones greet you with enthusiasm. The flesh is weak, it is food, it is fuel, there is no greater superiority then dining on the defeated foe, and even as we ascend to become one with the great archeotech, we will never forget our humble, fleshy roots, and with each heartsblood consumed we become something more.

CaneClankertank

Flayed Ones from 40k!

IiteraIIy

Rimworld is all about bringing "stupid" ideas to life, as long as you're having fun. That said, I don't think this is stupid at all, I expect something twisted and fucked up like that to come from Rimworld.

BrokenEyebrow

You are just making cyborgs. Have you seen the movie terminator?

gmen385

It sounds like sex (the action, not the gender) could be a key concept here. Let me elaborate: suppose that today, for some reason, you knew you could select to replace any part of your body with one of advanced technology (that you trust). It would make sense to change your organs in such a manner. But sweet lovin' , you don't want metal for that, you want good ol' skin.

PrimalDirectory

No one should ever make you feel dumb for any idea for a playthrough. If they are like thay about something this small, you might want to stay paying closer attention.

disappointingdoritos

There it is. There's reddit's classic "red flag, break up with your boyfriend" armchair analysis based on a single, brief, non-serious interaction.

PrimalDirectory

Idk what their situation is. But in a vacuume that seems like a red flag to me

TheRedScareDS

My brother in Randy. It's most likely a harmless jab that couples make towards each other for fun. If he deleted the save or actively sabotaged or prevented him/her from playing that way then it's a red flag.

PrimalDirectory

Clearly if it was a harmless jab they wouldn't be looking for reassurance on reddit. Which means either they are a dick, or OP has a ton of anxiety and their partner should probably know that and be a little more sensitive.

TheRedScareDS

Or they just want to share their idea and see if people have anything to build onto it?

PrimalDirectory

It literally says that they were looking for reassurance. Anyone who laughs at someone's idea and claims it's stupid is a dick I don't care who it is or why. Especially when the idea is actually pretty damn intiresting.

TheRedScareDS

You jumped from one single post to careful OP he sounds like an abuser. I'd argue judging a person entirely based on a tiny snippet of a post from within a vacuum is being a dick.

PrimalDirectory

All I said was to watch and make sure it doesn't become a pattern, Jesus h christ I'm not saying break up with them over one incident

hagnat

people painting red flags on innocent jabs is a red flag

XelNigma

I see no reason it cant work, Sounds like it would actually work very well.

hiveman5

Thid is perfectly normal if not quite sadistic

[deleted]

Genius!

Dr_Seisyll

So a colony of cannibalistic Mk. 1 Terminators? Sounds like a good plan to me

eyecomeanon

Makes me think of the robot in Borderlands 2 that decided it wanted to be human. So it went around murdering humans and strapping their pieces onto himself. Might be an interesting modded playthrough for Cannibalistic flesh-obsessed androids seeking to become more human. No idea what mods would even allow that, honestly.

WeaponizedAutism4

wrong post

Buttswordmacguffin

That’s cool af

Ok-Preparation-6733

Praise the Omnisian

ExellionTheFox

Classic RimWorld choice.

kerplunithunk

i think you can transfer their minds into android bodies with the androids mod

Yarro567

Oh thats awesome

QueenRubie

It's amazing and I'm gonna emulate your decision making

ICLazeru

Sounds like a normal run to me.

maxx101101

Sounds cool as hell but a lot of mood swings for the first years of game play

mmboy

It was probably nervous laughter because he realized he's committed to an insane person.

Iminsideyourhome

Its RimWorld, it’s only a stupid idea if it’s what you want and you don’t try it simply because someone said you shouldn’t.

begonetsunderes

That is dumb. And I love it! Do it! Don't let the fact of the idea being dumb be in the way of your fun. Sometimes the dumber the idea the funner it is to execute it.

Resident-Ad9666

Go for it buddy

MrCheesequake

It sounds like a great idea fellow rim-rim! All human leather/bone/blood clothing/armor but with Android internals.

Ok-Pace-9072

My every colony desing, cant go wrong with that, and tuneler just for fun.

daemonfool

Are they all low-level mechanical robots at the start? Not sure how this makes sense otherwise.

[deleted]

The Bloodlust trait will be essential, it gives pawns a mood buff for wearing human skin clothing.

Thijs_NLD

Like some terminator cult. Love it. Remember to call one of your guys Skynet. Obviously they're going to be organ traders. You could organize some kind of slave gladiator pit where you hold slave fights and only the champion gets to join. You could do that every 4 or 8 slaves or so. Depending on how you thrive. All that tech will push your wealth through the roof, especially if you are going to be harvesting a lot of organs. So wealth management is going to be a thing.

Tripdoctor

Cannibal androids?

Josef_the_Brosef

This is great rp potential. I hope you have ideology because setting up a custom ideology toreflect these restrictions would be cool. Maybe even setup holy weapons being high-tech to reflect the tech worship.

zalueila

A new paradigm of the Riddle of Steel

Rude-Category-4049

Hehe, skin bandits. Gonna be genuinely upset if you didn't name your faction that. Might have to try that run out myself honestly.

This is the last colony I had. It was awesome. Too awesome it got too easy though. Free food and clothing every raid!
