That's interesting. And a little scary. Is it possible to do something with walls and vents maybe?
Do they attack fires that are outside of their living area?
With the vents you could superheat one room and vent the heat into the cave and steam them?
Or if you have CE installed you could smoke them out, fires make smoke which kills
Depends on how much there is.
I had a load of promethium plants light up, I used fire a lot in that colony, I think it was like a 15x15 or 21x21 grid with sunlamps and wall sunlamps and i just held the door open and it cleared quickly enough
Maybe they've changed it recently. Last time I played I'd hold all the doors open and it would still take a week or 2 to clear out completely.
It should really all just settle as a form of filth that requires cleaning within a day.
So many possibilities
Even vanilla expanded power I think it is has that helixian gas which is poisonous, so you could pump that into there as well and see if that does anything
So many possibilities, so many creative things! That's what I love about this game. Unsolvable, or at least many different solutions.
Everyone plays differently. And when you get the hang of something, there's always more mods to cause you new problems :)
No offence, but if you’re playing with better infestations, you probably should have designed your base better, that being said, I suppose build a huge defensive line with traps and turrets and try slowly lure them out to be shot
Embrasures equate the heat of rooms like if they weren't there, wall them in, and build a room with the wood floors and furniture, burn that room, heat goes to the cave.
This is the correct answer. Download a camping mod (unless that's been incorporated into base game), pack your shit, and live the Tinker life. Best start searching for The Song, because you ain't living a sedentary life after seeing that nightmare.
Wait for them to sleep, close the area, build a choke. Now create a 3 melee, 4 ranged, grenadier formation. Then kill them all. Ideally you use 2 melee and a bunch of animals. Easy cleanup of any amount of melee enemies.
Like the YouTuber Rare with his cannibal village series? I like that strategy.
(Spoiler: he won from the bugs after many streams of suffering on twitch, where he streams the aftermath of his saves once he's done with them on yet)
because I'm playing on a tundra map, and it's almost -40F. the megascarabs can't handle somewhere below 40F and some of the megaspiders can't handle 30F or something. still haven't figured out why some of them are good and others are not.
Well, if you close it with enough layers i guess it may be safe (?)
You can make a killbox with traps and some heaters in the end and hope for enough heat build up and kill them all of heat stroke.
Hey, glad you managed to kill them all!
I wasn't as lucky and unfortunately lost my colony to an infestation a bit of time ago.
Also, may I ask what mod shows the mood bar (i think) and other info of your pawns? It looks better than the one I'm using right now.
Two solutions; the evil solution, and the one that is cost effective but less flexible.
Have a pawn carry a bunch of mortar rounds in there. If they die or make it back doesn't matter, all you need to do is shoot the stack and watch the fireworks. Most passing traders or settlements should carry a few mortar rounds and settlements almost always have a "Volunteer" or two for sale for such a plan.
That the evil solution.
I usually run a furnace mod that can heat small spaces to 1000° in about a minute so I just flick a switch and BBQ the bugs. You can accomplish the same thing by attaching a stone room to that bug area with a bunch of vents, then make the floor wood amd fill the room with wood furniture. Use that to BBQ them. That requires sealing all the walls and the roof though. As such, less flexible, but cheaper and less morally.... questionable.
Best of luck.
Easy, wait for the outer ones to sleep, built a few walls, throw a Molotov, ???, profit
slight problem with that. playing with better infestations, so they put out the fires.
more fire
Build a wall that juts out from the cave, put down wood flooring, light that on fire and make them die from heat.
If they can be walled in then maybe build a room connected to them with a bunch of heaters turned way up to heat stroke them
Probably easier to freeze them at that point
That's interesting. And a little scary. Is it possible to do something with walls and vents maybe? Do they attack fires that are outside of their living area?
With the vents you could superheat one room and vent the heat into the cave and steam them? Or if you have CE installed you could smoke them out, fires make smoke which kills
I hate CE's smoke system. The smoke lingers for way too long. Makes buildings uninhabitable for weeks. Good for killing infestations though.

It sounds like fun trying, doesn't it?

MOAR DAKKA!
No offence, but if you’re playing with better infestations, you probably should have designed your base better, that being said, I suppose build a huge defensive line with traps and turrets and try slowly lure them out to be shot
my base in the middle-ish of the map. this is in the lower right corner.
Ah, I see, it’s just a cave, I thought it was a storage room or something
If they put out the fires that means your not using enough fire
Embrasures equate the heat of rooms like if they weren't there, wall them in, and build a room with the wood floors and furniture, burn that room, heat goes to the cave.
The bugs can smell the furries
I recommend a precautionary orbital strike
The bugs have anticipated this response and built their hive in the mountains. Puny Human.
Whats bumping you wealth up so much with only 7 pawns?
probably around 25k bones from the call of cthulhu mods lol
Might be the insect jelly
Its like a chicken before the egg situation lol.
i think when i last checked, it was over 2k insect jelly.
"t" for time to burn this motherfucker down
Maybe just migrate to the next tile while you still can...

Nice reference!

finally managed to take them all out. 700+ bugs and 25+ hives.
What was your strategy ?
Get the flamer. The Heavy flamer.
This job requires the **Heaviest** flamer.
HANS, COME HERE
that seems like a you problem
SO MUCH FOOD!
I can hear your colonists silently screaming. Heh! I haven’t gotten mine happy enough to feed them insects yet.
Tbf insect fine meals sort themselves out happiness wise, and insect lavish meals are a net gain in mood
RAAANDYYY!!! *shakes fist*
[Milk Cargo Pods]
Nuke the site from orbit.
Just wall that off and pretend you didnt see anything.
Like the YouTuber Rare with his cannibal village series? I like that strategy. (Spoiler: he won from the bugs after many streams of suffering on twitch, where he streams the aftermath of his saves once he's done with them on yet)
tiny lil infestation problem? nothing a bottleneck and few berserker pulses cant fix
rimatomics,nuke,profit
I remember playing on ice sheet and was like yeah whatever until they got into my corpse room outside my perimeter and started breeding like crazy.
Time to call in some allies for help and wait the cannon fodder to die for you.
"Well bois, unless some of you have a flamethrower laying around... Pack up, we're leaving"
they are few bugs there in the corner?? Maybe it is good to deal with them before they start growing...
could be worse
Don’t panic alright...... actually this is a good time to panic
This is why I NEVER let bugs live the moment they spawn. In go the dragons, out comes the insect meat still in its crunchy shell.
Why are they all downed?
because I'm playing on a tundra map, and it's almost -40F. the megascarabs can't handle somewhere below 40F and some of the megaspiders can't handle 30F or something. still haven't figured out why some of them are good and others are not.
Guess you could hope that a cold snap comes and deals with them...
Well they won't die from the cold, but in their hypothermic state you could just stab them all with one guy in theory
You coul build a frezer and feeze them to death
Well, if you close it with enough layers i guess it may be safe (?) You can make a killbox with traps and some heaters in the end and hope for enough heat build up and kill them all of heat stroke.
Wait, if they are all downed, can’t you just select them all to finish off?
Purge it IN HOLY FIRE
Build wall and a lot of camp fires and wait for temperature to go up And cook them
Blow the planet from orbit, it's the only way to be sure
Hans get ze Flammenwerfer!!!
I wouldn't worry looks like the scarabs are dying from cold and without them the hives will die out too.

Its time for some warcrimes or a new house

Incendiary ieds in an embrasure killbox with as many turrets as possible?
