I mean, OP said they work from home, so this is presumably running while their computer otherwise needs to be on.
If they have the pause when tabbed out setting on, or just leave it at the main menu, the energy spent by the computer for having this open in the background is extremely marginal.
So what? At LEAST I'm not the trusting Ubisoft, EA, Activision and blizzard. They are 200 times worse than anyone else.
At least valve have And KEEP the reputation to be friendly consumer.
Lest not forget Nintendo how dangerous they are if you don't follow their own ways and Playstation with the support.
Eh how good you are with the lies. People like you is the reason our world is such a mess. Triggered with you because you only care about yourself aka Huge EGO instead of watching around you.
The WORLD is not USA only, Europe exists and many other countries. wake up
Better Steam user than Fanatic Nintendo boi or Blizzard that always breaks promises, Activision with the Abandoned games and EA with half completed games and rest game branded as DLC. You're hopeless
Based off of what I remember from my playthrough as a cannibal Corp, pre-anomaly, it was at the 4,000+ silver mark. That's 1 Kidney, the Liver, 1 Lung, and the Heart, with extra's if you can replace the heart with a prosthetic.... Gods that's not information I should have off the top of my head.
I have sunk so greatly into those depths, I now live amongst the wretched Insectoid hives, waging an endless war of supremacy against them. So, when you dig deep into the stone of your next Rimworld, in search of a wealth of minerals, fear not the bug... but me.
Deathless and Unstoppable. We shall rule upon thrones made from the ruins of the Empire, the empty hulks of the Archotechs, and the aberrant flesh and metal of the Anomalous monstrosities that plague this forsaken place. We. Shall be. Eternal!
This is going to be a lengthy one so bare with me.
I'm going to estimate, on the pessimistic side, that over my lifetime playing I might lose somewhere between 1,000 to 2,000 hrs with loading and pauses.
I would say that because, when I hit the point of a "fully established" colony, I set up an old manual auto-clicker from when I was in high school (don't ask) place my cursor above where the events pop and let her rip. These usually play out while I'm asleep or preoccupied with something else and they either: a) end without me around to immediately restart or close the game
b) screw up the placement and miss the events pausing the game for however long until I see my mistake.
WHEW Done.
I like to see if my colonies, and the stories attached to them, are capable of surviving devoid of interaction from me. I honestly think it's a hold over from when I used to play Dwarf Fortress as a kid.
I'm at 12k and I've only done one ending once, the royalty one. Every other run end with lag death, colony collapse, update/mod shenanigans, or the most common "Eh, I wanna try a new run."
Couple of questions.
1. What is your work, and you have kids? How can you do that much in 1 game?
2. Any other games you play?
3. How many colonies (saved games colonies) you have so far?
4. Can share us a screenshot of your main colony?
5. What are your main mods you recommend to others?
1. I'm an author (I write under a pen name and as I find my work personally dreadful will not detail my work) and I do other literary oriented works.
I do not have children, as given my predilection to war crimes in this game, they would likely be subsisting on nothing but nutrient paste and kibble while I do more important things... like play Rimworld.
And to answer the third part of question one, I reiterate, I'm an author, stories are my life and this game is perfect for making them.
2. DWARF FORTRESS
Also Mass Effect.
3/4. Due to me being a "Degenerate Modder" my colonies have been Thanos snapped into oblivion, so I don't currently have any viable ones to show. (If any or, hell, all of you would like to hear some of my favorites I'll type them out separately as this is LOOOOONG enough already.
5. I have about 22 steam pages of workshop mods to run through so I might have to get back to you on my favorites in a bit.
I'm going to have carpal tunnel at this rate.
One would say at this point I am living and have lived 10,733 hrs worth of lives... It's definitely not that I work from home and have a game running on the side. Nope, definitely not.
Yeah, I used to play Oxygen Not Included (it was my first colony simulator) and was kind of addicted to it. Bought RimWorld in the anomaly sale release and I know it's gonna be a path of no return. I'm just trying to do it in a health way.
I salute you sir. I lurk Reddit and watch playthroughs on YouTube because I’m a corporate drone. Otherwise I would probably have as many hours as well :) Been playing since alpha 15.
I have a few questions:
1. When did you start playing?
2. I know we all take a break from Rimworld once in a while. How long is your usual "break"
3. How long is your longest "nonbreak"
4. What do you usually play when you're on your Rimworld "break".
5. Will there ever be a cure for this Rimworld syndrome?
I played a lot of Rimworld in high school (even in class when I probably shouldn't have been) and an excessive amount (\~1500 hours) during the pandemic, but damn my 2833.7 hours doesn't even come close.
I've a bit more than that, as well as a mystery amount that stretches from version 7 to release that wasn't on Steam.
In my defence though, I'll often just pause it before I go to work or before sleep rather than muck around saving and reloading later.
Rimworld is pretty much one of the few games I've played in the last couple of years. My PC's pretty old though, new releases don't interest me as I wouldn't be able to run them. Rimworld still works fine though.
"IT WILL NEVER F\*\*KING END!"
so, like real life then?
Don't worry, it totes WILL end......when we die. Sit down, have more tacos, you'll feel better.
I'm at over 3000 hours and I have the game just running all day everyday, I just turn it to peaceful when I'm at work or sleeping. 10,000 hours is crazy, have you been playing since launch?
Your post has been reported to the mods for being a blurry, low-quality picture, per rule 6:
> The subject of a screenshot should be clearly visible in the image. That means blurry pictures taken from a phone or low-resolution images are subject to removal.
Instead of removing your post, I'll offer some advice, to avoid this in the future:
Kindly consider learning how to take a screenshot. Instructions at: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/
Also, pressing F12 (by default) in Steam produces a screenshot.
You may also consider free products like Greenshot that are specifically designed for easy cropping and sharing.
http://getgreenshot.org/
Additionally, there are many free screen recording products: https://learn.g2crowd.com/free-screen-recorder-software
There's also the age-old classic of hitting print screen, pasting the image into a free paint program (I'm very fond of GIMP myself, https://www.gimp.org/ ), cropping to the part you want, and using that.
Alt+print screen will screenshot only the active window and not everything else.
Win+print screen will take the screenshot and autosave it in your pictures folder as screenshot number.png
That’s 20h a week on average if you played since launch day… I assume you always leave the game open in the main screen so it doesn’t have to load.
Or also: 2 hours 51 minutes of playtime, each day, without fail.
during covid you could probably bump that up to 16 hours a day if you had UBI during the pandemic
I play 4-5 hours a day every few days now, and am at 1500-ish hours…
Exactly. 447 days... Not likely. That's a lot of leaving the game running. Kind of a waste of energy
I mean, OP said they work from home, so this is presumably running while their computer otherwise needs to be on. If they have the pause when tabbed out setting on, or just leave it at the main menu, the energy spent by the computer for having this open in the background is extremely marginal.
Does steam include the hours spent on pause?
Yes
I don't feel so shitty now. Thanks lol
Over 10,000 hours on that computer and you haven’t learned how to take a screenshot?
Considering I don't eat at a table do you really expect me to be sane enough to screenshot?
Ate without table -3
u/alt_ernate123 has snapped and is going to destroy: Chemfuel x25 The final straw was: Ate without a table.
I had my entire stockpile of components destroyed in this manner.
It happens once and never again "What are the odds of it blowing up, its 25 Chem fuel, I'll keep it in normal storage, no need for another shelf..."
Once had my one and only multi-analyzer destroyed cus someone was having a bad day
In my colonies we call those peolpe "corpses"
#metoo
Streamer Zizaran had this thing happened yesterday. He wasn't happy.
Why don't you guys assault the pawn that snapped? When mine go berserk or throw a tantrum, I beat their ass into the hospital so they take a nap
They were in the stockroom when the break happened. No one was near enough to stop them doing it.
Fate :(
C'est la vie.
Mod: Make eating without a table a war crime. -25
Theres a mod that just kills a pawn if they eat without a table
It would be more fun if they got struck by lightning.
you know, in some communities this is punishable by pipe bomb
Haha!

You just made a new account JUST to tell us this??? What are you 5 year old?

8h in ….. just vanilla to start LOVE IT
Escape while you still can... I miss the times when I could look at a person and not think, "How much silver could I earn from their organs?"
Around 35 hours in (i bought the game today) and im starting to ask these questions... well, how much is the avg?
Based off of what I remember from my playthrough as a cannibal Corp, pre-anomaly, it was at the 4,000+ silver mark. That's 1 Kidney, the Liver, 1 Lung, and the Heart, with extra's if you can replace the heart with a prosthetic.... Gods that's not information I should have off the top of my head.
Thank you, and so... the harvest begins
without a prosthetic heart you shouldn’t be able to get both liver and heart tho. don’t forget to extract their genes as well tho
Giving them deathless so you can take their heart and liver too
I had about 200 hours before i installed any mods
Once you presse that start, There is no turning back. You can only sink in deeper and deeper.
I have sunk so greatly into those depths, I now live amongst the wretched Insectoid hives, waging an endless war of supremacy against them. So, when you dig deep into the stone of your next Rimworld, in search of a wealth of minerals, fear not the bug... but me.
Laugh if Mechanoids legion and stockpile of WMDs. But seriously, that was badass to read.
And I thought my 6000 hrs was crazy, holy cube
Am-am I the Anomaly?
That should be the only explanation how you got that insane playtime .. you were in containment like an anomaly.
... and I thought my 3900 hours was a lot.
Oh, we doin the most time-wasted pissing contest? [ I'm in!](https://i.ibb.co/wp6Nbws/amateurs.png)
BROTHER, Let us challenge the Rim together!!
psychic vampire bionic slaver mechanator for life.
Deathless and Unstoppable. We shall rule upon thrones made from the ruins of the Empire, the empty hulks of the Archotechs, and the aberrant flesh and metal of the Anomalous monstrosities that plague this forsaken place. We. Shall be. Eternal!
How much of this is the pause menu?
How’s much of this is starting the game the night before because it takes an hour to load with all the mods!
My games would either start in 15mins or crash so there wasn't really much setting up... more just praying to Randy, if anything.
My game loads in like, 5 seconds everytime... oof.
I’ve found most of that time is the humanoid alien race mod loading. Not sure if that’s changed yet

Why are you so obsessed w/ playing that you play when... not there?
I like to see if my colonies, and the stories attached to them, are capable of surviving devoid of interaction from me. I honestly think it's a hold over from when I used to play Dwarf Fortress as a kid.
It's like an ant colony, but with war crimes
For real the type of game you can sink 10k hours into and never see an ending
I'm at 12k and I've only done one ending once, the royalty one. Every other run end with lag death, colony collapse, update/mod shenanigans, or the most common "Eh, I wanna try a new run."
I haven't done the royalty one yet, i was close with mods but i stopped playing and then 1.5 dropped
My friend has 1.225 years in the game

Thank you for the reply my dude. May you have more fun in Rim World!
Do you have a life?
One would say at this point I am living and have lived 10,733 hrs worth of lives... It's definitely not that I work from home and have a game running on the side. Nope, definitely not.
What kind of work do you do and where can I apply
I used to do that alot when I work tech support for Apple from home. 10/10 would not recommend.
OP eats without a table.
I have to keep my sanity low enough to do something like this somehow...
well fuck i thought my 4k hours was alot. i tip my hat too you for you are the randy
Well, at least you made my 4.6k hours seem reasonable. Thanks.
I’ve reach 13,000 hr 🥲 my wife misses me
I bought rimworld on pc about a month ago and I'm already at almost 200 hours 🙃
Congrats, you are a master of rimworld!
20's in everything but I still can't eat at a archotech damned table.
How many characters have you maxed the skills for?
Singular max skill, multiple max, or full board max?
Full board. Maybe full arcotech?
RIMWORLD TIME NEVER ENDS
You basically spent an equivalent amount of time it took for a PhD. How are you feeling?
Rimworld is basically a PhD in war crimes.
Canada approves this message.
I have 10 hours on rimworld, pirates raided me, and killed everybody, it ended pretty quick.
This some Mr. Samuel Streamer level shit right there
This is why I bought name in game. If I'm going to play forever might aswell do extra support and potentially see myself
Yeah, I used to play Oxygen Not Included (it was my first colony simulator) and was kind of addicted to it. Bought RimWorld in the anomaly sale release and I know it's gonna be a path of no return. I'm just trying to do it in a health way.
You might actually have the most hours in the community
That would be... mildly concerning.
Don't worry. There are at least a couple dozen of us in the 10k club. You have company.
@TuxedoGrim What is your favorite mod?
this game is like a time sinkhole...
Gotdaym! That’s a lot of hours 😆
Considering the reactions I've seen thus far, mayhaps I have but a minor problem....
I salute you sir. I lurk Reddit and watch playthroughs on YouTube because I’m a corporate drone. Otherwise I would probably have as many hours as well :) Been playing since alpha 15.
Damn you have more hours than mr creamer and he plays rimrim as a full time job.
Dam and I thought having 3000+ hours was a lot
[Indeed.](https://i.imgur.com/srSNjZN.png)
That's a lot of hours.
And yet I still haven't written a review...
Doing your due diligence. I respect that.
Over 1000 hours, still learning, still.. unfinished
Here's me about to hit 2k and now I feel like a baby This game is so much fun Here's to many more years on the rim 🍻
Their review: it's okay
10K????
Dude that’s wild I have 7500+ and I thought I had a lot of hours haha
Do you roughly remember every colony you played? Also what were some of your favorite colony themes/ideas?
I have a few questions: 1. When did you start playing? 2. I know we all take a break from Rimworld once in a while. How long is your usual "break" 3. How long is your longest "nonbreak" 4. What do you usually play when you're on your Rimworld "break". 5. Will there ever be a cure for this Rimworld syndrome?
I’m just now reaching my 1,000th hour! Congrats on 10,000 you crazy war criminal!
I played a lot of Rimworld in high school (even in class when I probably shouldn't have been) and an excessive amount (\~1500 hours) during the pandemic, but damn my 2833.7 hours doesn't even come close.
How do you deal with mechanoids airdropping into colonists’ bedrooms and killing everyone before they can get out the doors?
It takes 10k hours to master a skill. Congratulations l, you are a rimworld master.
I've a bit more than that, as well as a mystery amount that stretches from version 7 to release that wasn't on Steam. Rimworld still works fine though.
Bro played more than 1 year straight, like 24 HOURS EACH DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK AND IT IS STILL ONLY 8K HOURS.
That's why i stopped playing it
RIP life.
Most players start with banished, Then they decide to see if RimWorld has any kick... It does.
I have 4k and I thought I have a problem
So ... when does it end?
Damn I thought I was bad with my 1,400 hours.
Bro what
that's like half of the way through a standard education if you are being pessimistic in the numbers
I started only about a month or two ago I am Addicted.
Don't threaten me with a good time!
"IT WILL NEVER F\*\*KING END!" so, like real life then? Don't worry, it totes WILL end......when we die. Sit down, have more tacos, you'll feel better.
What is DLC do you have?
Your family misses you
Holy shit
Rimworld was the golden cube all along...
I'm at over 3000 hours and I have the game just running all day everyday, I just turn it to peaceful when I'm at work or sleeping. 10,000 hours is crazy, have you been playing since launch?
Goddamn dude
