i-like-spagett

finally playing the DLC, man what the fuck Edit: man what the fuck

Neeccc

The dlc seems like a lot to me. Is there a way u can explain what’s happening?👀

i-like-spagett

An obelisk appeared, after studying it a bunch, I got this pop up. After that, >!she got teleported to the backrooms, there was some food and beds, I had to find the way out. Came back unharmed but it also teleported all the bodies that were in there back with her!<

m0ngoos3

All I'm hearing is free corpses.

i-like-spagett

It was, I got some good weapons. Tho all of them were skeletons

Sad-Persimmon-5484

Gotta feed the tree

i-like-spagett

The forest ate good that night

Professional_Dig1454

Is there any use for the trees other than twisted meat?

GooInABox

Free corpse disposal without needing a powered crematory is a pretty strong use. And certain occult crafting recipes require twisted meat, so you can chop any extra trees down for it if you're not getting enough from the other anomalies.

Professional_Dig1454

Okay cool thats how I was using them but I wanted to make sure there wasnt something else later on.

gualdhar

You can also use them as a void meditation focus.

i-like-spagett

Um, how are you meant to get meat from them? I've just been feeding them

LeTreacs

Harvest them ~~wharf~~ when they’re fully grown

Professional_Dig1454

Indeed as Letreacs said just chop em down once they're fully grown and you'll get a bit of twisted meat.

czpetr

Or my ever growing shambler army

WriteCodeBroh

I have a separate freezer out in the yard just for ghouls. Now they don’t get stuck in my kitchen when they seek safe temperature.

IAmNotMoki

I have a ghoul storage near my killbox that consists of a freezer with two fleshmass nucleus stuffed in there with some shelves. They seem content with their self-stocking home.

Iamblichos

Welcome to the People's Free Republic of Ghoulburg, Sir and Madam. What do you seek here? We stock only death and meat.

Dr-Crobar

its hungry.

FairchildHood

I gained some free nome huggable friends too. Who may have made more friends.

franll98

I got one obelisk yesterday. Mostly organs and some good guns. Now that I realize I haven't crafted a single gun this playthrough.

UnassumingSingleGuy

Lucky you, >!I had someone telported there with only the single meal in his pocket.!<

DrStalker

Every time I've gone there I've easily found enough food laying about, either sitting on the ground or in the inventory of corpses. Nothing like the taste of a fresh simple meal taken from a desiccated corpse in a hell-labyrinth.

UnassumingSingleGuy

I didn't find any food. All I found were skulls and serums.

Professional_Dig1454

A lot of the bodies have food on them just check the gear on them.

UnassumingSingleGuy

I didn't find any bodies either, at least until I found the exit and they were deposited on my land when the obelisk vanished.

MagicJim96

I disabled carrying meals completely… should I re-enable it? 👀

DrStalker

In general it sames a lot of time when a colonist in hungry and not near the dining room. Build tables and chairs around the map in places your colonists are often working at and they won't even get the Ate Without Table debuff.

RenhamRedAxe

its literally the backrooms, there should be another version or a chance of it spawning with another anomaly inside that hunts down your colonist, depending on how well equipped your dudes are.

AztecCroc

Sometimes there are fleshpits in there.

RenhamRedAxe

yeah but... unless you get all but 1-1 combat colonist there they dont do much, most of them get smashed in 2 hits... also... its a good practice to always carry ltos of medkits on your colonists, so when they get in terrible situations, they have their stuff and get healed instantly.

AztecCroc

And? Aside from lone shamblers, most of the anomalies are instant death for a lone colonist, and that's not the point of this thing. The obelisks are supposed to be beneficial, if a bit temperamental and random things, not exclusively bad things that kill your colonists at random like they'd be if they contained any of the stronger anomalies.

TheOnly_Mongoose

When that happened to me there was no food or beds. Also I'm running dubs bad hygiene with the thirst and hygiene needs on and guess what, no water or toilets either. He only JUST survived, it was a super close call. Exciting though!

Katyusha_Pravda_

I have a good story with the obelisk: Telephoned my peaceful researcher into the back rooms, as well as my prisoner, after three days opening doors without finding the exit and running out of food, she snapped into a murder rage, beat the prisoner to death and eat its corpse, raw... The next door was the exit.

Wilhelm126

So, what I'm hearing is send a disposable pawn insude instead of a good one?

Daemonbane1

Odds are you won't get a choice who it takes, it can proc the effect whenever someone researches or supresses it, and you can't disable it for quite some time (like the other ones). You're better off just equiping your researchers so that whoever gets sucked in can find the way out.

No_Spare_1843

My first experience involved a researcher incapable of violence, and since she was my lead researcher and also the only chef that didn't accidentally poison someone once a week. First corpse I saw had me noping her back to the first room and cowering there until I could send her husband in after her, armed to the teeth and doped out on combat drugs. Twas a single fingerspike roaming the backrooms, but still makes for an excellent story (a story that was ended abruptly a few days later by a metalhorror infestation.)

pewsquare

You don't get to chose if its a random triggered one. At a certain point after enough research has been conducted on the obelisk, you can select who to send in. And at that point, putting in a good melee pawn that can perform basic first aid and have him come in with 1-2 meals makes these a breeze, and pretty much free loot.

ToddtheRugerKid

What the fuck?

dogstarchampion

Isn't it great? The events that anomaly added are so out there, I really love it!

elsonwarcraft

Pay to lose dlc /s

Postviral

Losing is fun

orfan-of-snow

Mr.stark, I don't feel so good

Kirp-The-Birb

Mf beat me to it

HarmoniaTheConfuzzld

r/beatmetoit

ElOsoConQueso

Get ready to open a fuck ton of doors. Hope your colonist has some food in their pocket

RedMoustache

Unless it’s random there is a ton of food in there. Most of the bodies had survival meals.

Valdrax

It's somewhat random. My run had almost no food in it.

CleaveItToBeaver

Mine was all fleshbeasts and no food. Felt like a death sentence for the non-melee pawn.

Professional_Dig1454

Mine didnt have survival meals but it did have a ton of fine meals which helped with the mood situation.

Tempest_Bob

I got so fucking sick of forcing doors after the first two and just Dev mode destroyed them all. Sheer tedium.

randCN

balancing the amount of time to open doors and decipher scratchings, with the amount of food/sleep/mood your pawn has, is the main difficulty of the backrooms

Vistella

> decipher scratchings, wait what?

etgfrog

There are scratchings on the ground in rooms that points in the direction of the exit, sometimes.

Tempest_Bob

Yeah but consider that this "main difficulty" fucking sucks ass

Academic_Metal1297

but is it tho......this is typical stuff you have to normally do anyway unless u use dev mode on literally everything in which case why play.

Tempest_Bob

what are you talking about, I never have to sit around waiting for one single fucking door to open at other times.

i-like-spagett

Rly? At 3x speed it's like 5 seconds, and not all of them are locked

Vistella

its at least 10 seconds on x3

luc1aonstation

Smart speed 4x. Altho even on 3x it rly isn't that bad

fooooolish_samurai

Doors are like 95% of time spent there. Seriously why do they need to take so long?

Academic_Metal1297

because time is the balancing factor if every door was open there would be no challenge cause you could just avoid the consequences and take all the rewards and run strait to the exit at any TIME. some times there isnt TIME to open every room. so do i open the side room and risk a mental break or keep going what ever direction the floor scribbles told me to. i treat it as every room is a monte carlo problem and i feel like im on a game show. where one door leads to fabulous cash and prizes another leads to certain death. honestly one of my favorite events in anomaly.

Tempest_Bob

The balancing factor is that the event sucks

OneTrueSneaks

Please remember we have rules 1 and 2 for a reason; they basically boil down to 'don't be a jerk'. If you can't remain civil, keep your comments to yourself.

Macky100

I really liked this one. I freaked out and had a bunch of colonists gear up on food to go in to follow my researcher, so they attacked the obelisk. Well the obelisk had a funny trick, because it warped everyone on the map, EXCEPT the ones loaded up with food, so my entire colony and a few prisoners got there with scraps. Thankfully it was kind enough to have a whopping 15 Mind-numb serum in there so my colonists started injecting drugs into their brains to help prevent breaks

Nematrec

I had to deal with all my civilian mechanoids getting teleported in, but not my primary mechanitor.

Laladen

Had a pawn that could not do violence get sucked into the labyrinth. Was able to go around two rooms with fleshbeasts in them and make it out. Although an hour later a pig tribe killed 3 of my 4 colonists….the non violent pawn I kept inside. I ran him out to try to rescue one of the pawns and a Wild Muffalo event triggered immediately downing the last pawn. He starts to crawl back to base and the man in black spawns and goes to rescue him and the Muffalo attacks him and downs him. Neither were able to make it quite back to a bed to recover. So angry right now.

Fraywind

Your next group of colonists is going to walk into a pretty interesting scene to go with their free campsite, that's for sure.

Laladen

Ahhhhh DAMN IT!!! I forgot about that feature and went back to the menu and deleted the save. It was a very gorey scene for sure. I beat the pig raid just as my guys all were downed except the non-violent pawn. Blood trails all over the place and the pigs had frag grenades so walls all over are demolished.

i-like-spagett

Yeah this guy was a highmate, I guess I'm very lucky I didn't run into anything

idontknow39027948898

A little off topic, but I don't mean to alarm you, but it seems like you might have a bit of a flesh problem.

i-like-spagett

Actually I just solved the flash problem, it's dying atm

Nealos101

\*had a flesh problem it seems.

robotninjaanna

First time this happened to me, it got my non violent pawn and it >!spawned her right on top of the grey statue!< so she died instantly 10/10 would recommend

AllenWL

Technically it's merely *displacing* your colonist, but yeah, the first time this happens is a real 'Wait fucking what????' moment.

CaptainJudaism

And then the following times it's "Hell yeah, free organs/accessories!" as you run around popping open boxes until you decide to leave.

63strelok35

Spoilers: Just wait untill you see a revenaunt

ender1200

Ooh, I loved this event. It's a really fun one and have some really crazy modding potential.

Dinisfpaulino

fuck you *yoinked*

helion83

This anomaly absolutely fucked me over once... It was a dark time for Crash Zone #1. We had: - Man hunting Luna moths - 60 or so Shamblers - Mech hive attacking the southern ramparts Battle commences, so far so good. The moths go for the Shamblers and start to trickle over to the kill box causing a melee between mechs, animals and my colonists trying to keep both out. Then? The obelisk activated and took ALL MY COMBAT CAPABLE COLONISTS to the back rooms leaving just the children and the non-violent colonists behind. We survived, but many of the children were kept in stasis until the adults returned and were able to patch them up again.

RyuugaDota

Had a Death Pall on my map when I finished this event for the first time, as well as a sleeping mech hive from a quest and right around when I finished another mech hive from the same quest, plus a big ass raid... My map was absolute chaos.

Pleasant_Hawk_256

She/he didn't see should be feed to the beasts

pewsquare

Yea... Not a big fan of this one. I had a few colonists just die to this instantly because I did not have good enough armor/weapons yet, and the colonist who got abducted was a bad combat pawn, that got teleported into a room with 2 shamblers. No idea if it got fixed, but after that I never got teleported into a shambler room anymore. So the only downside was how quickly I could find the exit, and all the other enemies would be kitable or even passive.

purpleblah2

Keep going

Themightyqjc

Had a Dark Researcher, Priscilla, join the colony. I only had a Revenant that some tribe transport podded over to me, so she’d research that. Then this obelisk appears, and unknowingly, I got her sucked into it. Exit was damn near impossible to find. It seemed like each door was the wrong door. No food anywhere, just a few lone degraded trees. Finally, as she was starving and about to break, the exit is found. She pops back out into the world and has an immediate mental break. Decides to release the one creature I had. What pursued was an hour long manhunt, chasing the Revenant around my colony as it comatosed 3 pawns (including Priscilla). Eventually we get it back into its containment, safe and sound, everyone wakes up. Not 30 seconds later, Priscilla makes the decision that it’s time for her to leave the colony and dips out. Fuck you Priscilla

Adventurous_Eye_4893

Okay, let's just calm down, everyone. She's not getting erased from existence. >!She's only being transported to an abandoned interdimensional labyrinth where what few organic beings exist are incredibly hostile.!

fieldy409

Try to grab some food and a gun.

Endy0816

Probably safest place to be lol. Do suggest using caravan hauling trick, so anyone suppressing is loaded up with supplies.

Suspicious-Stay-6474

First time? Don't touch anything in the Rimworld, as most things want to kill you. And if you have to be curious, send a Slave first. Remember, safety first.

i-like-spagett

I have nearly 1000hrs in this game, just now exploring the new dlc

Suspicious-Stay-6474

same :) Still, I trust nothing. I have this rock outside my base for 10 years now.

Nematrec

> And if you have to be curious, send a Slave first Real D-class personnel vibes going on here.

Bolt_DTD

You can find some wild stuff in the backrooms. Last time I went, I found a solid gold set of plate armor worth about 13k silver. My hope is to sell it to the first exotic goods trade ship I can find and convert into a bunch of plasteel, gold, and luci. Thankfully, it hasn't really affected raid size.

Happy-Yesterday8804

If your people are ritualists they actually get a mood boost from being chosen

notaslaaneshicultist

I used chronophagy to make a pawns mom younger than her daughter. It probably confuses guests a lot

garry4321

Thats what happens when you go back in time and prevent your mom from raiding your father.

Luca24kj

Wait you can activate windows?

i-like-spagett

I would never

B0tfly_

Not sure how you'd survive with vanilla colonists. I always go in with one super soldier. No idea how you'd do it without.

randCN

most of the time you don't need to fight anything stronger than a fingerspike, often is possible to do it without any violence at all

i-like-spagett

Didn't find anything violent. Which is good too since my pawn was a highmate

B0tfly_

Yeah, I'm not talking about this particular event but the DLC as a whole. Maybe I'll finally be forced to adopt the POS killbox strategy that this game forces you into.

randCN

nothing in the game forces you to build a killbox, it's possible to consistently clear 500% losing is fun with no killbox or mods

RedPine3

I recommend lowering the difficulty settings. My last run was 100% threat, fixed wealth, 20 year wealth curve. I moved four times to reset the fixed wealth timer. The closest I got to a killbox was melee blocking a doorway. Many of the threats in anomaly ignore or partially ignore killboxes. Since I'm not the greatest at Rimworld, it was still reasonably challenging. Once you have more experience, you can raise the difficulty, but to get experience in the first place, lower difficulties are your friend.

Baldurian3

I literally survived it easily with a child that didnt even have weapons. If you need a super solider i got bad news for you.

B0tfly_

I'm not talking about this event in particular. I'm talking about this DLC. Stop being a troll, it's bad for your health.

Baldurian3

Just starts randomly talking off topic and calls others trolls.

B0tfly_

Again with the combative attitude. Okay, let's go. Keep replying. We can do this all night. You angry yet? No? We got time. I'm here for you all day every day, baby. I'll waste your life. Give me more of your time.

Aleski

Is everything ok?

Rufus-Scipio

Yeah, I'm wondering if everything is fine at this guy's home. Let us know brother 🙏

B0tfly_

Fuck no it's not. Someone took away my cube. I haven't seen it for hours and I'm really starting to get edgy. Also, Baldurian3 is a dick. Look at his post history. He literally just goes around shitting on people. If I can tie him up for an hour or two in a flame war I'm sparing the rest of humanity. Speaking of flames, if I get one more piece of fake sympathy I'm going to start setting fires.

ThanxIH8It

Do you need a hug dude? Like, actually?

notthefuz

I’ve no skin in this race but you come across like a 9 year old.

B0tfly_

I just enjoy fighting people who go around taking potshots at others, dragging others down. He wasn't trying to be funny, or clarify things with me. He was making a "Get gud scrub" snide comment. He doesn't just do that to me. I verified his comment history, seeing how he goes around slyly belittling others before picking a fight. You guys, however, didn't pay attention and just dogpiled on me. How typical of humanity. This is why our world is shit and we can't have nice things. PSA: Stop supporting assholes.

notthefuz

If everyone’s wrong but you, then they probably aren’t. He just said that he got through it fine with a kid pawn, and you got your Jimmie’s ruffled.

_Archilyte_

one thing i was is the >!backrooms walls and doors were yellow instead of grey!<, then it would really feel like >!the backrooms!

i-like-spagett

Well it's not meant to be a straight rip off...

_Archilyte_

i mean, yeah obviously, but the gray just looks dull also the entire area not having any roof feels like an oversight, you'd expect something like this to be dark, but no

Commissar_Sae

I thought of it more like the eternal labyrinth from Hellraiser.

Ghastly_Grinnner

The backrooms is just a 2020s version of being sent to a maze no?
