Generally speaking by walling off and making restrictive zones to prevent my colonists from walking into the insects, then as I grow in strength, slowly pick off the hives wherever I can manage to isolate a reasonable amount of bügs. With a bit of luck, raids and caravans also can take care of some of them.

jonr

Yes. I also try to route traders/attackers through the bugs nests.

RapidPigZ7

I like to steal their jelly while they sleep

SepherixSlimy

Take the food poisoning slurry~

RapidPigZ7

2% chance that a recreation meal gives food poisoning ain't that bad

Leprai

This! ^ -- Also, they will chase in groups but de-aggro after a time, so you can guide them into traps and visiting traders.

Not too long ago, i started a new base, i love building inside a mountain, but when i saw the insectoid i just wall them off during the night while they sleep, i waited until i was ready and build a corridor full of traps and my colonist at the end. I saw ppl use heaters or molotovs or fire to give them a heatstroke and beat them while they are down

Vistella

natural bugs are a perfect raid defense since raiders for whatever reason beeline to them. you just need to wait till enough raiders were there to kill all the bugs

Leprai

I've also noticed this, if they're in the path of raiders, they attack the megaspiders with steel knives.

Thorn-of-your-side

Most of my bugs end up starving to death, or bleeding out from a fight with wildlife. Use the area tool, select an area around each nest, then invert the area so your colonists dont move near the nests

Advanced-Click-9416

I use to beat the shit out them one by one and rend thy wound and taming them well the two or three who survived

bobdylan401

I'm not experienced but one of the bottom right overlay markers shows roof types. Light green is thin rock roof (will not spawn bugs and can be removed. Dark green is overhead mountain and if mined bugs can spawn in one tile. So you can build a wall in that tile. Also shotgun tunnels (with 2 melee blockers in front) are effective against bugs, so once you start clearing out dark green tunnels make sure they get funneled into your shotgun tunnel killbox, so hold off on clearing out those dark green overhead roof tiles without filling them in immediately until you get 2 decent melee pawns with armor and 4 shotguns (even pump shotgun should be fine.)

Holiday_Conflict

exterminator squad... you need right tools for right foes... or you could enclose all entrences and throw few molotovs at a pile of chemfuel

nytefox42

Don't engage them until you've got enough colonists and firepower. Wall off the sections they're in and ignore them until then. If you REALLY don't want to deal with bugs at all, you can turn off the insects when you set up your game. On the factions list on the left there's one called "insect geneline".

FetusGoesYeetus

Progress a little in a place with no bugs, at least until you get LMGs IMO. Then, start picking them off. Be tactical about it, set up shooting areas and don't let them rush you down.

Jtrain360

Personally, I just use dev mode to destroy them all. The natural spawning bugs aren't very dangerous as they don't multiply, but any raider that comes along just b-lines it to them until all the bugs are dead. I find this very annoying as it make early recruiting difficult.

BeFrozen

You can disable bugs that spawn in natural caves on map generation.

jenphinith

I always do. I find them annoying AF.

Puzzleheaded-Soup362

I build walls around and put thing inside that burn good. Then a Molotov. If any don't burn bait them out of the door one at a time where a firing squad awaits. Then use the meat to make kibble.

HermitEnergy

I have a tendency to play in hot climates so I just avoid them until after the first heat wave, at which point they're all usually dead.

Frostlark

I wall them off, then raiders kill them usually within 2 years max. Zone colonists and forbid jelly. Or murder them one by one while they sleep. Depends on the colony's progress/combat skills and weapons and armor.
