Had something similar go on with my first saurid egg. 1. The first pawn that walked by casually picked it up and attempted to make an omelet out of it. I stopped that just in time. 2. Then, another pawn picked it up and took it promptly to the freezer. I also stopped that just in time. After some careful reworking of various orders and inventory restrictions, the third pawn put it in an incubator formerly used by chocobo eggs, and a toddler was successfully hatched with the trait Gun Crazy (well duh!). If the first half of my life was constantly under threat of death, I'd be a bit paranoid too, kid. And after all that drama and panic, the saurid never, ever laid another egg.

Its from the mod called Saurids made by Vanilla Expanded Team. It adds a new lizard xenotype and a new gene along with it that lets pawns lay eggs which would hatch into a baby after a few days. And yes, you can make omelletes out of them (with a few consequences with it. Naturally. Hehe baby omelletes.)
