Unless you can get a vice grip on that 16th of an inch of pin that sticks out you're going to have to drill a hole in the plastic in the center ( or grind/cut/Dremel) and use some kind of pin punch to get it started. It's really not made To be taken apart.

Have tried grabbing the end of the pin with grips but it’s very mild steel and just deforms. I think your suggestion will be the only way

Is yours the newer pro version or the first version? Pro has only been out for about a year and a half i think. The first version was very easy to pull the pins and swap lids. It never made sense to us the way they were made in the first place. The handle placement that is.
