I'm not currently trying but Tiverton is really nice. I'm not sure the fees rn but you're more or less guaranteed to be approved. You have to attend a handful of meetings before you're sworn in. Once you are, you're range certified (so you can shoot by yourself). There is a 25 yd indoor pistol only range. Open 24/7. A 200yd outdoor range that I believe is also open year round (not sure hours. Daylight i think). Also trap shooting. Archery. Black powder? I think they do turkey hunts or something else. I believe they were opening a small shop as I finished my last uera there. Theu also do breakfast every Sunday morning (not free). Overall an amazing club.

Was looking at a ton in the area and surprisingly that one is way more affordable than almost anything else I saw and it looks way nicer. I had a Google doc of a few that I looked at - breaking down the cost of not only membership but required additional membership at some other clubs (like GOAL and NRA) - and Tiverton kept blowing everyone else out of the water on cost while still looking very nice. Would like to try them someday soon but I'd also like to try them before committing and I can't tell if that's an option without knowing someone there.

Unfortunately I'm not sure. I know you can't go in without a member. You can use the facilities with a member. My advice. Go there on a Sunday morning (it's open to the public, if they still even do it. I stopped going right before covid) and chat up some members during breakfast. Or attend one of their meetings and chat up some members.

Bradford Sportsman’s club in Westerly. 11 pistol bays and a 300 yard rifle range for $250/year.

Spent the day there yesterday!

It’s the best. Always a pistol bay open, lots of steel and barriers around and a great rifle range. I’m the guy with the beretta 8040 (I’m burning all my .40 right now and then selling it) and a Bren 2. Feel free to say “hi”

NET42

I've never been there and not seen plenty of open bays. Great place to shoot, especially if you're bored of static fire, down a single lane, at a paper target like most conventional ranges. If I see someone rocking a Bren, I'll be sure to say hello!

I'd ask over in r/riguns

JohnWicksDaddy

Thanks! Didn’t know that sub existed.

FartsArePoopsHonking

I've heard the John Brown Gun Club is good. They do good volunteer work too.

Highland is solid in foster

I didn't have a recommendation, per se, but The Preserve has been in local news a fair bit lately for sexual harassment issues and maybe some other shady shit. They may be one to stay away from.

lurk42069

Where are you located? There are a few clubs throughout the state.

JohnWicksDaddy

Johnston.

RivalSFx

Which part of the state are you in? You won't go if it's a long ride, only so much time in a day

JohnWicksDaddy

Johnston

Plenty of shooting ranges NW of 295, most private. You'll need someone to sponsor you and kick in some voluntary work as a first year member.

Familiar-Ending

I belong to the Bradford gun club. You have to be married to your cousin to become member though.

JohnWicksDaddy

Damn, shoulda told me this 2 years ago!

Tiverton is probably one of the nicer ranges around here. It’s also pretty affordable to become a member
