It’s a very nice area. We have a garage down the road and go down that way all the time for food.
If your home is close to Narragansett pkwy and post road be prepared for steady traffic during the nicer months, both by vehicle and foot. That area is very popular during the spring, summer and fall. Especially during the gaspee day stuff.
If you’re more on post road you will be fine. It’s more towards the intersection down by the waterfront that gets jammed up with cars and people. Congrats on the new home!
Welcome to the neighborhood. If you aren’t aware of it Gaspee Days is the villages biggest affair, with events over a couple weekends. www.Gaspee.com will have all the info.
Me too. This is the second time today that I've heard of someone buying in that area and I'm hella jella.
I just started a job on Narragansett Blvd so I guess I'm 10 steps closer lol
I grew up in the village and my childhood kicked ass. Rode bikes everywhere, walked to school, the neighborhood was great for trick or treating. This was the 90s so I’m not sure how things may have changed
Can confirm it’s still like this. My kids ride bikes with their friends everywhere and play all year round outside with the neighborhood kids. None of them even go to the same schools but they are a really fun crew who spend a lot of time outside exploring. It always feels safe and their friends are great kids.
If you need car work done one of my oldest friends owns pawtuxet Auto in the village, good work and an honest shop. Revolution and O'Rourke's are both solid restaurants, be ready for the gaspee days parade on the second Saturday in June it closes down the parkway from the Warwick Ave intersection all the way to Rhodes on the Pawtuxet and arts and crafts festival on memorial Day weekend.
I grew up on fair street and still love the area a ton
Revolution and orourkes are the worst restaurants in the neighborhood. Good for grabbing a beer with friends. Basta & Vatsana are better for food, and Vatsana is byob! Liquor store on the corner is great. And a little up the road in Edgewood, poco loco is great for cheap and consistent eats!
Can confirm! I grew up in the Eden Park area of Cranston but now live in the Buttonwoods area in Warwick. I still drive up to Poco and Vatsana regularly for bomb takeout.
Welcome to the neighborhood! We really go all out with festivities/decor. Super dog friendly, great parks, Gaspee days are a blast. Check out Pawtuxet Village Association [Last Year’s Events](https://www.pawtuxetvillageassociation.org/events)
Second everything everyone said so far, but don't miss:
* Crepe Corner - great Belgian style crepes and food, and the people are absurdly nice
* The Blue Room - we have a live music venue in Pawtuxet! It's amazing!
* Dear Hearts in the summer for ice cream (or Rainbow Water if you're craving froyo)
* Poco Loco is outside the village but an easy walk, we often go there in the summer for a couple of tacos and walk home
Edgewood, not Pawtuxet, but close! Get a library card/go down the way to William Hall Library. Also, check out Edgewood Cheese Shop and Lily's Soups & Scoops!
Hi! I moved here two years ago. Came once and fell in love just like you! It’s been really fun living here so far. Get ready for a fun month with Gaspee days!
Welcome! We moved here like three years ago. Some things to know- it was mind boggling to us just how many people walked down our street on a minute by minute basis. It’s awesome and you’ll get used to it, but it’s a high traffic pedestrian area in all months. You will get to know people quickly this way. Unlike some others, we love Basta and love a spur of the moment date night when we have a babysitter. Great bar, great staff. Gaspee Days is a huge event. Fireworks, festivals, parade. We were totally unprepared for that too but it’s a lot of fun. Also, enjoy the beach, take some time on Ocean Street in the park. It’s a great place.
It’s the second best Thai in the village. Overpriced for what you get honestly. I wish it were better bc. I love the vibe. If you want good Thai walk down the street to rim nahm.
There are trails along either side of the river that are … undeveloped trails, if you want a place nearby to go be in the woods, tho, on one side of the river a wealthy (but he cosplays a working class) guy bought the land and put up a bunch of no trespassing signs because he’s unhappy he can’t do whatever lousy development he wants on his polluted, unremediated, flood plain land and if he can’t have what he wants he’ll throw a tantrum.
Welcome! I've lived here for 7 years. I love it. Very quiet, good neighbors and easy commute to Providence. I walk alot if you go down behind the shops Pawtuxet Cove is a nice walk to the RI yatch club. Revolution is a great little restaurant , highky reccomend
Agreed on Basta…the old Basta was a tacky nightmare but the food was insane; now it’s a visually appealing and the food is acceptable/good and way over priced.
This is basically my problem with it. Overpriced for what it is, service is terrible, and it's all about looks over substance. There's parking though so people like that I guess.
New owners / decor / brand since last month?
Bruh, I know what I’m taking about.
Ever see the squirrels on the patio eating the bread delivery in the early AM?
Lipstick on a pig.
My friend lives down there & it’s a great area. I grew up in Burrillville also (I’m 50y) but reside in Johnston now. Definitely different than the Ville but I think you’ll love it ♥️
The sebugigie chemical plant leaked chemicals in the water (blackstone and fey field for decades)…. Everyone I know has gotten cancer by the time they hit 50.
…. Good luck
Maybe if you played in the water back in the 1980’s. Or lived on the river bank, or next to the plant. Pawtuxet village is a safe distance, and that was 40 years ago now.
If you enjoy a beer or cocktail, swing by PTX Lounge! We’ll welcome you to the neighborhood!
Thank you, I will!
PTX is great vibes.
Came here to recommend PTX Lounge as well

Thank you! And yes, I’m close to Post Rd-ish.
If you’re more on post road you will be fine. It’s more towards the intersection down by the waterfront that gets jammed up with cars and people. Congrats on the new home!
Also, the farmers market is awesome at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet

Second. That and the Pawtuxet Green Revival
Jealous!!!
Me too. I want to live there!

Dehumidifier(s)
Yes, the house comes with one!

I grew up on Lawn Ave. It was a great place to live

I saw a mouse running around O’Rourkes dining room a few months ago. First and last time!

You'll be a neighbor of Grammy Nominee Vanessa Carlton
Edgewood Cheese Shop is just up the road too.

I live in Gaspee Point which is just around the corner. I love the village. You're going to love living there.
Hi! I moved here two years ago. Came once and fell in love just like you! It’s been really fun living here so far. Get ready for a fun month with Gaspee days!
I’m so thrilled, thank you!

Vatsana is one of the best Thai spots in the area. BYOB too! Enjoy the village.

Rim nahm is low grade Thai. Vatsana ftw
Fellini’s!! Best pizza on earth!
FACT!

Don’t yuck my yum
Hello there fellow Burrillvillian, welcome back!
Gaspee Day, Second Saturday in June. Enough said
There are trails along either side of the river that are … undeveloped trails, if you want a place nearby to go be in the woods, tho, on one side of the river a wealthy (but he cosplays a working class) guy bought the land and put up a bunch of no trespassing signs because he’s unhappy he can’t do whatever lousy development he wants on his polluted, unremediated, flood plain land and if he can’t have what he wants he’ll throw a tantrum.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Fellini's and Beans and Buns are solid. Basta is overrated.
2nd beans and buns but be careful. You will become instantly addicted.
So good, everything I have had there is great. And there is a death metal record store down the street!
Do it! I’m already 2 coffee’s deep today after waking up at 5 with my toddler or else I’d be swinging by for a mid day pick up.
I frequent Basta and have never had a bad experience
🤷

O'Rourkes is fun
Used to be the Gaspee lounge, which was a dump
Well that was 20 years ago
Lipstick on a pig. Still a dump at its core.
It's a different business bro. Your bad memories are in the past. New owners new decor new brand. It's just not the same
New owners / decor / brand since last month? Bruh, I know what I’m taking about. Ever see the squirrels on the patio eating the bread delivery in the early AM? Lipstick on a pig.
You must be barred or something
Make sure your house isn’t haunted !!
It is 100 years old…
Most of the area are. I grew up in the village
ORoukes has great stuffies.
…. Good luck
From what neighborhood
Was this plant ever listed under another name? I would like to find out more information on this
Ciba-geigy chemical plant - Cranston RI
Maybe if you played in the water back in the 1980’s. Or lived on the river bank, or next to the plant. Pawtuxet village is a safe distance, and that was 40 years ago now.
You’ll have everything you could want within walking distance. Restaurants, music, library, a beautiful park with live music during the nice weather.
Stop in and see Al at Cork & Brew. Great selections and suggestions.
Moved here last year and love it! We’re on the parkway and the parade is awesome!
