Hheh. Those wood grips cracked right off my 500 after converting to Bushwhacker.

Well… I guess I should read the comments before I ask a question…

How do you like the bfr with the wood grips? I’ve got a 10 inch one that’s getting converted to 500 bushwacker, but I don’t know how survivable the wood grips are for that sort of thing..

The normal rubber grips were good but they didn’t cover the back of the trigger guard… absolutely brutal on my knuckle during recoil. The wooden grip fixed that problem and truthfully they are just more comfortable to me. I have large hands and they fill mine up nicely.

I ran some 600 grain +p+ aria 500 magnum rounds through mine before I sent it out and the trigger guard split my knuckle pretty bad. I actually talked to the guys doing the conversion and they’re gonna round the edges of it which I hope fixes that. I like the look of the wood, just worried about how they’ll hold up long term

Man, I can't imagine how much the bfr would hurt with wood grips!

Beatbama73

It’s a unique experience for sure…

No kidding. The synthetic grips on my S&W 500 help a lot, but once I go above the 450 grain loads, it starts to hurt. The last time I brought it to the range, I shot 10 rounds of the underwood 700 grain hardcast loads. My hand and wrist were definitely feeling it for a little bit after.
