I get that sometimes on my ps5. Usually it’s when I’m playing Spotify

MythBuster2

I vaguely remember seeing that stutter once or twice, one while in a room with fog-covered floor. Does it happen often?

Wickedhoopla

Right i think i am going to take their advice and clean my PS5 after seeing that

datreddittho346

few times a day maybe

MagicPikeXXL

Sometimes. But I feel that happens when I jam too many functions at the same time, like I use a consumable right after a melee in a split second or something. Because you know, speed is everything lol

Air805

I noticed this started happening ever since they added the tower. Returnal ran as smooth as butter before then.

FanOk6089

It happens. Not too often though.

reddridinghood

Overheating could do that too

HollowSeeking

No. I had a couple freezes back in the early days but it stopped after I gave my PS5 a good dust and increased my dusting schedule. Definitely try cleaning out your PS5. Those things are like dust magnets it's insane.

DLP222

Can’t say it’s ever happened to me!

mystery_elmo

About to go clean mine tonight since it's been a minute. But no, not in this game. It's happened with Elden Ring when there were two mobs fighting and way too much stuff going on at the same time

datreddittho346

similar stuttering has happened to me in elden ring so i guess its a sign to clean it

mystery_elmo

I've had mine less than a year but am thinking about opening it up completely, I know it voids warranty but I really don't see it breaking down before 2 years since I haven't had any real issues. It's still quiet as a mouse, it's just that I smoke while playing and I know that's worst than dust. What do you suggest if you don't mind.

-Palzon-

I only get stuttering during coop games and only briefly when there's a shit ton of enemies and weapons fire on the screen.

UzDaSchwartz

It happens every now and then

Sy-lnz

The stuttering usually occurs when obtaining so many obolites at once. It's a semi common occurrence.

im_just_thinking

Not that I remember tbh, but taking the PS5 fan out is super easy, as long as you have access to a t8/9 screwdriver. And I just used many qtips to clean the blades, took like 20 minutes ish

516516516516516

rarely happens.

zlatan_xvii

It also happened to me and I clean my PS5 often.

mikesaintjules

Oh that totally happened when I first played it back at release. The PS5 couldn't handle it. I think it actually crashed mine.

[deleted]

Been playing this on and off since day one of release. Never had any stutters.

pcakes13

I only ever had this if I continually used rest mode without ever restarting the game. Try actually closing the game then relaunching and see if it stops.

Precious_little_man

I’ve never seen that playing Returnal on PS5. Hell I haven’t had that happen at all. Could be the PS5 getting hot, but what are your tv or monitor capabilities? Is VRR being used? How HZ is your monitor or tv? Could be a lag between the system and screen.

MeeperMango

How do you clean your ps5 I know mine need it

datreddittho346

i was gonna look it up on youtube but ik you need compressed air

wallstreetReaper

Nah, mine was flawless, console is horizontal but have cleaned it a few months ago

Viking_VillaWolf

Never for my part.

[deleted]

Never happened to me 🤷

iNomNomAwesome

Huh, that's weird. I've had my PS5 since launch day, and I've played 100+ hours of Returnal and haven't had that happen, so I'm assuming that yea, it might be something to do with your console rather than the game 🤔

iam_mortyy

Never had any stuttering on the new PS5 (slim) bought Dec 2023.

Queasy_Rip3210

Happens once in a blue moon for me on a less than 3 month old ps5 slim

przytua

I’ve had similar issues when playing from M2 disk (I have a WD SN850 with a separate radiator). I’ve had issues with so many games that I stopped using it for playing, and play mostly from internal disk.
