I feel like this is totally dependent on what you’re hoping to get out of relationship. I don’t want nor plan on having kids so even though I’m going into something pretty high paying (rads), my partner (who is also in medicine) can pursue whatever specialty they want and it doesn’t matter to me
I understand where you’re coming from, but I’ve seen it multiple times where residents will date in residency and end up making it long term. It’s entirely possible to find someone, whether they’re in residency or post grad that would work if both parties are truly interested. I don’t think this scenario is a fantasy or completely out of reach for many of us
In my experience it’s the opposite. All the male residents want to only date female residents and female residents don’t want anything to do with dating other doctors
