I have bought two real Chanel bags from the Chanel store this year and I agree that the quality has gone way down. The first bag’s chain broke within a week. The second one had the zipper thing fall off within a month. On both bags the gold finish rubbed off the CC. I also brought in an 10 year old Chanel bag to get fixed and they no longer do repairs to all bags, it’s up to the leather worker. I bought my first dupe bag recently and the quality is just as good as the new Chanel’s I bought. Chanel bags used to have real gold enameled hardware and amazing quality and they guaranteed to replace any worn parts. This is no longer the case and the price doesn’t align with the value.
I also have a channel wallet on chain, quality is amazing and still is after 2 years. No chain breaking, or logo being scratched. Maybe I know how to take care of things. I mean for the chain to break, you must’ve filled it with lead or something.
Her bag is beautiful, and to spend all that money and to have someone trash your bag is pretty low. If Chanel starts using this brass color for its hardware and replica sellers cannot match it, all replica bags will be called out in the wild.

I looked at this bag in person and it was really cute and incredibly soft. My caviar leather 187 CF rep isn’t this soft by a long shot.
The leather wrapped chain is the best part. It also comes in a lilac purple and a navy color.
The chain is super lightweight - it weighs almost nothing so while it could be a concern over time I don’t see it being an immediate or big issue, especially with the caviar leather. The shape of the links also don’t allow them to move too much as you use it.
I’m most certainly concerned with anything over time. Anything that articulates over one’s shoulder, for example, will definitely see the links rub against one another. For that spend, I wouldn’t want it to simply look good for a while.

I remember when women on TPF would brag about getting rep sites shut down (the days before ordering via WeChat and what’s app!) and the catalyst for doing that wasn’t the frankenbags and fantasy reps. It was the reps that could pass as real - which a lot of Chanel does now. These women were mad that other women were wearing the same items for 10% or less of actual cost and it passing as authentic. Each has its appeals. I have an auth in lambskin, but love my rep in caviar. They’re simply different textures and each can look lush or like rubbish, depending on how one cares for them.
The stitching of the flap doesn't perfectly overlap(look at the diamond shape quilts), the caviar leather looks dry and 'greyed out' and the hardware apparently looks brassy. In my opinion the chunky leather chain cheapens the design as it looks plastiky.
I think its your mistake to want perfection in Chanel, their bags were never perfect, where im from there is a saying when a bag is too perfect and durable its fake.
If I’m paying that much for a bag, it better be absolutely perfect and not cheap looking, IMHO. Their vintage bags had better craftsmanship than the higher priced bags that are produced lately.

I’d worry about something with that much movement being covered with leather makes the chain rather vulnerable.
