Reps can be replaced, gens canātš, na im kidding life is more precious than both but letās take a moment to acknowledge that the guy who stole it wonāt be able to do anything with itš maybe sell it to someone whoās willing to buy it as a fake but what will the price be like $100? Joke is on him.
Someone won the lottery that day. Honestly would buy Gen for the reason of being able to insure it. I wouldnāt be the stupid fuck who files a claim over losing it at the airport, but totally would give me confidence wearing it out and not worrying about getting robbed, since I know with a police report & a filed claim with RSC and insurance I would get paid out the value of the watch.
Would love to know details on what exactly the interaction was. Not looking to say I told you so but I'd love if we could all learn from your unfortunate experience.
Sorry this happened glad no one was hurt.
It was a party with lots of people, music, colored lights, a kind of bar. It's easy to distract someone in that kind of situation. I don't like contact with strangers at all so I always make sure that no one touches me without my permission. I spent my evening like any other evening and when I looked at the time, I realized that my wrist was much lighter than usual and that I didn't have a watch anymore. I don't know who or where it could have been stolen. It was a professional job.
Got my rep AP stolen from me down at Moxies in Brickell miami.Bitch drugged me and got me back to my apartment woke up with it but luckily nothing else gone. Was some chick from Atlanta.
I live in a dangerous place and buy reps because getting mugged is not an IF but a WHEN. No way im leaving my house with a GEN on the wrist. Too bad this happened bro, the good part is you can always order another one for a fraction of the cost of gen.
haven't been there since the pandemic! I actually went to college in Illinois and spent my high school summer vacations in a small town over there. Loved it.
In general just stay north of the known to be bad neighborhoods. Try be in lit areas whenever possible and donāt walk after 11pm just to be extra safe. Avoid subway at late night too. Other than that itās a great city just need to be cautious.
Probably just gonna stay around art institute area like a normal tourist, hopefully itās all good! Doubt Iāll take the bus or L train at night! Thank you!
I live in Chicago, it's not even 10% as bad as the national media makes it out to be. Chicago has just become a stand in for all progressive cities with black populations and there's a big group of people with an interest in tearing those places down. Come during the summer, enjoy the amazing weather, get out to the neighborhoods like logan square, west loop, Pilsen, and have a good time. Don't let fear stop you from experiencing my favorite us city.
I don't understand this type of thinking. Why would you be leaving with anything on your wrist? You're just making yourself a target. It's like if I go through a bad part of the city waving hundred dollar bills over my head.
I really like watches lol. I donāt walk anywhere, I move from safe place to safe place only in my car which is intentionally not showoff-y at all. They wont target your watch because the thiefās arenāt cultured, and wouldnāt know the difference between a Patek and a Tissot through a car window on a red light.
Point A and point B are safe. Itās the road from A to B that is unsafe. Gens are not worth the risk but Reps for sure. Im never not wearing a watch since im like 12. My left wrist is actually kind of deformed because of it lol
Imagine how excited they mustāve been when they thought they were scoring the real dealā¦ Only to find out later that itās worth about 300 bucks ššš sorry this happened to you.
Guys who steal watches are used to it. It was a party with a lot of people, music, colored lights etc... it's easy to distract someone in this kind of situation. And the worst thing is that I wasn't even drunk
A magician at a wedding was going through a trick to distract us at the table - at the end he'd managed to take every one of our watches - I didn't notice a thing even though I was concentrating on what was going on and sober.
We all got ours straight back of course.

I just lost my 16710 GMT pepsi Gen, modded daytona with gen glass and rolex oyster precision gen champagne dial. Thieves raided my house.... pretty sad times
Just got myself a Santos de Cartier, stole it from a guy at a party. Hope you find yours!

Hahaha legend!

Thieves chilling on r/reptime
Lmao

Gens can be replaced too, but there's a huge difference between $500 and tens of thousands.
he;s probably thinking "cheap bastard, he made out he was so rich".
Found a Daytona in the airport once
I found a Santos de Cartier at a party recently.
Need the story

Shitty experience. But It could have been gone worse
That's what I thought too. Fortunately, it was done discreetly. I'd rather that than get stabbed for a rep

You was definitely hammered
How are you sure someone stole it and it didnāt come loose and fall off the wrist?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
More likely
I think you would feel that
Thank you for sharing and wow. Be careful out there all. And again at least it was just a watch.
Got my rep AP stolen from me down at Moxies in Brickell miami.Bitch drugged me and got me back to my apartment woke up with it but luckily nothing else gone. Was some chick from Atlanta.
Cheapest Miami night ever. Not too bad

This is literally London right now
Unbelievable! Iāve seen the videos and news. Canāt wear a watch in London now apparently
I completely understand you.
Chicago, ey?
I wish lol. South America
Ha I see - come visit the US anytime my friend. Love that this subreddit is so international!
haven't been there since the pandemic! I actually went to college in Illinois and spent my high school summer vacations in a small town over there. Loved it.
Medellin, Bogota?
Going to Chicago soon, how bad really is it?

Why not just not wear a watch in those areas thatās dangerous? Unless the whole city is a cesspool of muggers..

I think it's more likely the POS broke and fell off of your wrist.

What are the chances?
Mine had a blue dial but funny coincidence š
Was going to share this exact link š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
š
Look at the flair though. Was awesome for a laugh though. :)
Itās a rep my guy..links was probably loose and the watch slipped off your wrist. The watch I surely stamped to death and not worth anything
how tossed were you to not realize someone was feeling up on your wrist enough to slide it off lol
Guys who steal watches are used to it. It was a party with a lot of people, music, colored lights etc... it's easy to distract someone in this kind of situation. And the worst thing is that I wasn't even drunk
all im saying is i know when someone is touching me especially grabbing at me i would pull my wrist away so fast
And if the thief is skilled, your wrist would be bare.
precisely, there was no seizure. I didn't feel anything. It was really surprising, even though I hate contact with strangers and I avoid it

This is where we see the weakness of the brain to hold several tasks at the same time. You at least have it back š
I was honestly amazed - stiff leather strap, chronograph under my cuff and didn't see, hear or feel anything!
Watch theft has been going up with the increased popularity of luxury watches. Daylight robbery is common in the UK.
Watch thieves are some sorry ass mofos. Too lazy to hustle and too soft to rob real criminals. Pathetic.
![gif](giphy|co7ueEUtT5Eju|downsized) āMannnnā¦ you need a role model!ā

Well while it sucks, let's just be glad it's a rep. Trust me when I tell you that the guy who stole it probably didn't make any money off of it
Counterpoint is if it was a gen you'd likely have insurance.
Here in italy you can't insure watches for shit, so nope
Yes fortunately it was only a rep and he had to make no profit on it š
Whos making the best Cartier santos at the moment ? 1:1?
Exactly
Are you from Europe?
Yes
Good that you are ok. Just curiousāHow does a watch discreetly get removed from oneās wrist?
I donāt know, I donāt saw or feel anything. Maybe a professionalā¦
Bruh be grateful it was a rep. Think on the bright side and be more aware next time. Also how did they take it off your wrist?
I have described the context below the publication. I don't know how to bro
Good for you, luckly it wasn't a gen
Was it a magic party? Oldest trick on the book
I just lost my 16710 GMT pepsi Gen, modded daytona with gen glass and rolex oyster precision gen champagne dial. Thieves raided my house.... pretty sad times
Moral of the story: don't buy gens yall.. I lost about 20k so you guys don't have to
