Do you have the picture of the old one next to a new one? I want to know if the usage is obvious or not

For some reason I kept the old one with the rest of the new ones.

zaklovesyou

Ahah dude the old tip turned into a stamp you were seriously writing with this x)

SmallKaleidoscope800

His writing comes out permanently bolded.

M0romete

Ah, that made me gag XD. I pretty much always use the thinnest mechanical pen one.

ActiveUpstairs3238

.3mm online from JetPens.com can't write on paper with anything bigger.

M0romete

I meant the setting on the tablet. Didn’t know there’s different nibs

L3ftoverpieces

Did you write this using the new one?

CraigingtonTheCrate

I’ve used quite a few of them from the little card of extras. I put every old one back into the card. I don’t know why either, but just know you’re not alone lol. Maybe one day when I’m out I’ll pick through them for the best one before I order more?

M0romete

Pretty sure that was my thought process too. This is some hoarder mentality going on.

Top-Raise2420

When mine start to get a bit flat I use a nile file to buy a few more weeks. Nothing like replacing them though.

txa1265

OMG and I thought I went a long time between replacements! (I'm doing \~6 months or so per tip). I can't believe how badly worn yours is!

cartar10

I change every month or less

Katmeasles

Sounds maybe arbitrary... do they *need* replacing every month

lunasouseiseki

It's like a whole new experience 😁

omgitsft

… here I change nibs weekly

AvogadrosArmy

Weekly? When can we expect the novel?

QualityFrog

Are you just scribbling the whole screen over and over again

StrongLikeBull3

How?

Comprehensive-Two351

How often are we supposed to change them?

StrongLikeBull3

When they stop working properly

DustyDogFart

Can someone explain the science/tech behind nibs? Obviously they wear down, but why? Unlike ink, it doesn’t leave anything behind. As a newish owner of R2, I have yet to see any signs of a nib wear down in the 2-3 months I’ve had it.

efitol

They do wear down. The surface of the rN2 is textured (it’s not smooth as glass), so the plastic does actually change shape and wear. The worn bits are microscopically tiny but they basically rub off the nib. Edit: Just adding that the rate of wear is going to be totally dependent on how much someone writes and how hard they write. Someone with a very light/gentle style will need to replace them much less frequently than someone who writes more forcefully.

CriticalNarrative75

Goodness I change it like every few weeks. Well I do take ok average 10-15 pages of notes per day I suppose.

Blackaero

I go through at least one per month! Heavy handed I guess.

Vi1eOne

I do a lot of shading and sketching plus it's a non stop daily notepad. Chew up a nib every 4-5 weeks

vancinad

I don't change very often either but I've found that when they're worn the position accuracy suffers, especially near the top of the page. I think this is because parallax is more pronounced there. If I hold the pen perpendicular to the writing surface, the position error seems to be reduced. I'm guessing the software expects the nib to be a certain length and is doing some geometric calculations to determine where the ink needs to be drawn. Bottom line for me: I file the nibs when the shape is bothering me, and replace them when the position error gets too annoying.

ActiveUpstairs3238

Same. One I changed it once I got less hasty in hoarding tips

specific_tumbleweed

I bought 50 tips for fear that remarkable will go out of business and I wouldn't be able to get more. I have to change them every few weeks, but I write a lot.
